@Ajunne Unfortunately that doesn't work for me. [Bug 880049] Re: 100% CPU usage in init if /dev/console is not available
I totally agree the proper fix would be that OpenVZ provides a /dev/console. My patch is rather a workaround. Concerning jobs specifying console access, they already fallback to CONSOLE_NONE in job_process_spawn so they are working (maybe not exactly with the same behaviour though). Concerning jobs specifying console ownership, they will fail indeed, but those jobs (rcS, mountall-shell, ...) really can't be used in a OpenVZ environment anyway. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/880049 Title: 100% CPU usage in init if /dev/console is not available To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/upstart/+bug/880049/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 880049] [NEW] 100% CPU usage in init if /dev/console is not available
Public bug reported: When /dev/console is not available (for example when running as an OpenVZ guest), init consumes 100% time of one CPU core. Here is what happens : - in init's main function, system_setup_console(CONSOLE_OUTPUT) fails, leaving file descriptors 0 and 1 uninitialized - nih_main_loop_init eventually get called, initializing its interrupt_pipe on file descriptors 0 and 1 - we end up calling system_setup_console(CONSOLE_NONE), resetting file descriptors 0 and 1 to /dev/null - in nih_main_loop, select is called on 0 (/dev/null instead of the pipe) which repeatedly appears to have changed I'm attaching a small patch which fixes this. ** Affects: upstart (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/880049 Title: 100% CPU usage in init if /dev/console is not available To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/upstart/+bug/880049/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I can confirm this bug on my Dell Vostro 1710 running Jaunty (2.6.28-11-{generic,server}). It occurs only once on every boot, when GDM starts (and thus does its prefetch), provoking a ~30s blank screen with heavy disk activity before the login screen. Re: [Bug 72711] Re: Cannot build against 2.6.19 (missing config.h)
This is not an issue anymore for me but I've not tried to build rt2x00-source with recent kernels, as rt2x00 drivers are now part of linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.22 2007/9/6, Lionel Le Folgoc [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Re: [Bug 134354] Re: /etc/ldap.conf removed
Yes, I had libpam-ldap and libnss-ldap previously installed and working. I then manually installed ldap-auth-client (I can't remember if libpam-ldap and libnss-ldap got upgraded at the same time), answering NO to the local root question. BTW it is easily retriggerable by dpkg-reconfiguring ldap-auth-config and answering NO to the local root question. 2007/9/4, Rick Clark [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Actually, I think I misunderstood the bug. Had you installed a previous libpam_ldap package and ldap-auth-client was installed as a prereq during an upgrade? If so, ldap.conf should not preexist. I'm pretty sure this must be a use case I missed, I just need to narrow down exactly what you are doing. -- /etc/ldap.conf removed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/134354 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. -- /etc/ldap.conf removed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/134354 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 129183] [Gutsy] System freeze when bringing up rt2500pci interface
Public bug reported: With latest rt2500pci driver (from linux-ubuntu- modules-2.6.22_2.6.22-9.22), the system freeze after enabling CTS protection on the interface I've tracked down the problem to this upstream (git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/ivd/rt2x00.git) commit : c69ad028b683289fba89ce4a8aa34dddbcf32ce2 Reverting those changes fix the freeze and the system is working properly. [Bug 127699] Various problems in 3.1.0-0ubuntu10
Public bug reported: I've identified various problems in latest xen-3.1 source package : - FTBFS in pbuilder because of trailing debian/files file. - /etc/init.d/xendomains fails because of bad LOCKFILE and XENDOM_CONFIG paths. - pygrub fails because of missing /usr/lib/fs/*/fsimage.so - PVFB fails because of missing /usr/lib/xen/bin/xen-*fb - xen-vncfb uses wrong path for accessing keypmaps (/usr/share/xen/qemu instead of /usr/share/xen-ioemu-3.1/qemu) A patch will follow. ** Affects: xen-3.1 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Various problems in 3.1.0-0ubuntu10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/127699 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 127405] Re: xen kernel is compiled with PAE support, but xen-3.1 without
This seems fixed by now, but IMHO there is a problem with providing only one kind of hypervisor/kernel : it will break many setups where (non-PAE) domUs don't share the kernel image with dom0. (PAE domO cannot boot non-PAE domU, and vice-versa). Rebuilding those kernels with PAE may not be easy, and maybe impossible (third-party kernel images, pygrub images). -- xen kernel is compiled with PAE support, but xen-3.1 without https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/127405 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
