[Bug 1547286] Re: 16.04 installer can't get past "Force UEFI installation"

2016-09-08 Thread Chazall1
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1418706 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1418706

I have the same problems as everyone here on the daily Ubuntu-Gnome
16.10 as well as many of the past daily releases for the past week. The
installer has my non ssd drives 2. I followed #11 and got no further. I
have 3 other linux installs on my ssd. I have bios set up correctly I
have no boot issues to any OS including WIN on one drive. This is the
first time in many years that I have had this issue (very frustrating)
that I can NOT install another OS to test. I have tried both 32 and 64
.iso's . I have run parted -l and my ssd is not listed, same from my USB
installer, I select Something else to choose where I want to install, NO
SSD listed.

[Bug 260001] Re: ubiquity crashed with InstallStepError in configure_bootloader()

2008-10-26 Thread Chazall1
I reformatted the target partition with 128 byte inodes and ran the
installation again from the intrepid desktop CD, using manual
partitioning but preventing the root partition from being formatted
the install and all is functioning. This was my work around. I needed the 128
byte inodes in order to boot. I have a multi boot HD and the GRUB error is
from Intrepid E2fsprogs sett ing the inodes to 256.
I am using the RC Intrepid.

[Bug 160098] Volume Meter not functioning from apps list

2007-11-04 Thread Chazall1
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

When I choose the volume meter from my apps menu in Gutsy, it opens but will
not function.
I can however get the volume meter to function when I open, Audio Manager,
click on one of the active lines, click on properties, then I can click on the
box that indicates, Volume Meter. And it functions properly. This may be a
configuration problem with the volume meter!

[Bug 64123] Re: Superblock last write time is in the future

2007-04-16 Thread Chazall1
I have 2 IDE HD's, 1 WinXP and Ubuntu Feisty (Kernel 2.6.20-15.27 I am
still getting the Superblock Last Write Time was in the future. I was
testing on Edgy and hoped Feisty would fix this.

I have had an issue when the time change took effect in Edgy and now Feisty
(2.6.20-15-27)
I get a Superblock Last Write was in the future on both / and /home.
running zdump, here's my output:

/etc/localtime Sun Mar 11 06:59:59 2007 UTC = Sun Mar 11 01:59:59 2007 EST
isdst=0 gmtoff=-18000
/etc/localtime Sun Mar 11 07:00:00 2007 UTC = Sun Mar 11 03:00:00 2007 EDT
isdst=1 gmtoff=-14400
/etc/localtime Sun Nov 4 05:59:59 2007 UTC = Sun Nov 4 01:59:59 2007 EDT
isdst=1 gmtoff=-14400
/etc/localtime Sun Nov 4 06:00:00 2007 UTC = Sun Nov 4 01:00:00 2007 EST
isdst=0 gmtoff=-18000

1) 'ntpdate' is installed by default in Ubuntu [Edgy] and there appears to be
intent for it to run at boot; on the other hand 'ntpd' is not installed by
default;
2) there are many reports of 'ntpdate' not running at boot-time though it
appears it should; my own experience is the same, as was noted in a previous
post:

- ntpdate, normally a "component" of ntp, is installed by default when
Ubuntu is installed, and it has several files related to it in /etc/*.
The code in one of those files, /etc/network/if-up.d/ntpdate, directs
ntpdate to run when the network becomes available (presumably during
boot); however, I could find no evidence by examining logs or tracing
the code back through various files that ntpdate actually ever runs (it
also is absent from the list of services when sysv-rc-conf is run from
the command line). As a final step, just to be sure for purposes of this
discussion, I set my clock incorrectly (- 10 minutes) and then rebooted.
The clock was not corrected, so I can confirm that ntpdate is not run
during boot.

NOTE: I was able to update the clock after login by issuing this command:
Code:
sudo ntpdate -u ntp.ubuntu.com

I chose the "-u" option and the server, ntp.ubuntu.com, because they are
specified in /etc/default/ntpdate, and I wanted to be clear that these
could be used successfully to update the clock.

[Bug 68647] Re: [maybe initramfs-tools or usplash?] black screen during usplash. Ubuntu boots fine

2006-10-29 Thread Chazall1
I am having the identical problems with a P4, 1gb ram and a 17" display,
I have tried all the posts on how to fix the problem, to no avail. I
just get a black screen. HOWEVER, today when booting I can see my curser
blinking on the upper left of the screen, and it moves straight down 4
lines. No other things happening.
