[Bug 990260] Re: Latest kernel makes Sentelic touchpad misbehave
The attached archive contains versions of sentelic.c and sentelic.h that are drop-in replacements for the versions provided in the standard kernel. This version of the driver, for me at least, works far better than the one currently in teh standard kernel. I have attempted to reduce the delta between my version and the standard one as much as possible, however the core packet processing and initialisation routines are too different to be reconciled easily. I'm not sure where Ubuntu's version of the driver came from, but it seems to have been substantially rewritten from the version I obtained from saaros/sentelic on githut a few months ago. ** Attachment added: "sentelic.tar.gz" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/990260/+attachment/3114395/+files/sentelic.tar.gz -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/990260 Title: Latest kernel makes Sentelic touchpad misbehave To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/990260/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I have a version of the driver that works perfectly, however the delta between my sentelic.c and the one in the linux-source-3.2.0 package is quite large, as it's not based on the in-tree version of the Sentelic driver. [Bug 311869] Re: Add driver for Sentelic Touch pad
It's interesting that Sentelic's engineer said that. I am finding that in absolute mode the touchpad is not very accurate and a bid jittery - not so in relative mode. Perhaps this is symptomatic of what he is describing. I'm not aware of any roadmap - my first goal was just to get absolute mode working with two finger scrolling, which I consider the absolute minimum to make it usable. My test hardware is currently out of the country so I won't be able to do much on this for the next 2 weeks until it comes back. My changes were mainly to get things working on kernel 3.0. I haven't tested against 3.2, but Oskari's original version didn't work for me on 3.0. I took a look at the Elantech driver source to get some ideas on how to make it work - this appears to have paid off. My next step was to fix the two finger scrolling as the left and right finger packets arrive separately (same as the Elantech). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/311869 Title: Add driver for Sentelic Touch pad To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/oem-priority/+bug/311869/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 311869] Re: Add driver for Sentelic Touch pad
Thanks for your fantastic work Oskari! You beat me to it - I was getting close to getting absolute positioning working but hadn't worked out the correct registers yet. I applied your changes to the stock Oneiric kernel. Scrolling works as you stated, however cursor movement is jumpy to the point of being unusable. I compiled the driver with debug output enabled, and it looks like the driver is receiving a smooth stream of absolute packets from the hardware. It reports >50 packets per second and the timestamps look right as well. But the way the cursor behaves it seems like only about 1-3 packets per second are actually being received by X. [Bug 300181] [NEW] Problems after installing "Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid"
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: synaptic After installing "Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid" I have lost access to among others, repositories, visual effects, and to most of my kde4 applications. The directory (/usr/lib/kde4/bin) has been wipe clean except for (ksysguardd) file, but the synaptic package manager is showing the applications as being installed with 0 Bits on the "Download" column. e.g.: Error Could not launch application Failed to execute child process "/usr/lib/kde4/bin/(application name)" (No such file or directory). [Bug 222588] [NEW] usb port will not run mouse in hardy
Public bug reported: I am using a Sony Vaio VGN-N250E laptop, running Gutsy Gibbon until 2 days ago. Upon trying the live CD for 8.04 LTS my usb microsoft optical mouse stopped working properly in it's usb port (i would always plug it into the rearmost of the two usb ports). It started lagging behind the actual mouse movements so as to become unusable, without any change to the touch pad. I installed 8.04 in spite of this error and then my mouse quit altogether. but only on that rearmost port, upon moving it to the forward port there have been no problems, and i have since used the rearmost port for a flash drive and an ipod without any difficulties. I am having no trouble working around this bug, but I thought I should point it out. I did not see an existing bug report with these symptoms, hopefully I didn't miss an existing report. Please let me know of there are any logs etc. that i can post to assist if someone would like more info. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- usb port will not run mouse in hardy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/222588 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 191137] Re: [Hardy] ACPI Embedded Controller (EC) stops boot when kernel boot 'quiet' option is enabled or AC power is connected
I can confirm this bug in the 8.04 LTS release on my Sony Vaio VGN- N250E. But removing the 'quiet splash' from the kernel line in /boot/grob/menu.lst seems to have solved the problem for now. thanks a bunch! -- [Hardy] ACPI Embedded Controller (EC) stops boot when kernel boot 'quiet' option is enabled or AC power is connected https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/191137 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
