Re: [Bug 55349] Re: Automount DVD's AMD64 Dapper and Dapper 368 and Dapper K7
Hi, no they were not recognized after inserting CD, but after a reboot sometimes they would be recongnized , or after inserting a few times without a reboot. I have since stopped using Ubuntu (I had to have this functionality) as a result of the issue so I'm sorry I can't execute the debugging exercise :( I can tell you under WinXp SP2 the drive works flawlessly (same hardware). Also while testing under KnoppMyth, it worked fine as well (!!although my testing wasn't extensive, I don't remember having the issue!!). If I return to Ubuntu later this year I will certainly let you know ! Thanks for getting back to me. [Bug 55349] AMD64 Dapper and Dapper 368 and Dapper K7
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: hal-device-manager Hi, I searched for an open/reported bug but could not find it, sorry if its been reported already. I have 2 PC's, this occured on only one and seemed to follow the DVD RW that I have. I confirmed it on 386 no updates applied, then installed k7 kernel same result. Then I built an AMD64 PC using this DVD writer drive, and AMD64 install, same result. Problem: Most of the time, insert DVD close door, no automount, no way to force mount of disc. Occasionally rebooting then opeinng and closing door, or inserting same DVD after boot the automount works. Light on DVD blinks a bunch of times as it reads it, then nothing. DVD burner is a Lite On , trying to force mount thru Nautilus, no media found. Tried with many DVD's that worked with my other DVD burner and even occasionally with this Lite On. I belive its model SHW160P6S04. CDR's are recognized all the time, Blank DVD-R's are recognized so far no problem, just movies, legit movies. And yes, I'm just watching them ;) Also, I have have tried with libdvdcss2 installed and without, no difference, this makes me think HAL or HAL device manager is involved ? I could be very very wrong. Let me know if its already reported or if you need more info, thanks. FYI I tried reinstalling a few packages, gnome-session etc, no success. ** Affects: hal (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed ** Summary changed: - AMD64 Dapper and Dapper 368 and Dapper K7 + Automount DVD's AMD64 Dapper and Dapper 368 and Dapper K7 -- Automount DVD's AMD64 Dapper and Dapper 368 and Dapper K7 https://launchpad.net/bugs/55349 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 15424] Re: Error while burning DVD-RWs: Input/output error
I can confirm that in Ubuntu 6.06 Dapper I get the same generic error with a NEC DVD burner and DVD-R , not RW , dics. Same dic in another system I have, but Kubuntu with NO updates installed, and k3b burns the disc. In Ubuntu I was able to burn DVD+R's but then installed the Friday June 16th updates (maybe on Saturday) , bunch of updates, and then cracked open a new 100 pacl of DVD-R media, they will not burn. CD-R's burn OK. I tried Nautilus and DVDDecryptor (in WINE) and that throws some DVDDecryptor I/O error, but the first post in this bug (Natilus) is the same thing I get with DVD-R media now in Ubuntu. Attached is lsmod and dmesg output with one of the blanks inserted into an up to date 6.06 Ubuntu. (correct how do I add attachment?) Also, let me know if you want me to try anything. I already went ahead and tried the latest version of dvd+rw-tools (6.* ?) .deb package from debian to no avail. ** Attachment added: Here is my dmesg http://librarian.launchpad.net/3094966/dmesg.txt ** Attachment added: Here is my lsmod http://librarian.launchpad.net/3094967/lsmod.txt -- Error while burning DVD-RWs: Input/output error https://launchpad.net/bugs/15424 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 26890] Re: I/O Error writing DVDs in Ubuntu
I added my data about this bug, although for me its DVD-R's in 6.06 Ubuntu with latest patches as of 6/16/2006. Before this time I only tried DVD+R's wihch worked. I get the same This disc doesn't have any tracks I recognize! in dmesg with a blank inserted. same blank in Kubuntu with NO patches burns. CD-R's also burn OK. -- I/O Error writing DVDs in Ubuntu https://launchpad.net/bugs/26890 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
