[Bug 1906741] Re: Firefox sometimes causes garbled audio

2021-01-27 Thread chris m
For me many videos have garbled audio, today it's https://octopus.com/,
some others, e.g. a cloud guru, tedx weren't working before, but are
now. Perhaps it's not related to the video format.

Ubuntu 20.04 and FF 84.0.2

[Bug 1166765] Re: unity showing only blank desktop, no dash nor decorations

2015-01-02 Thread Chris M
Thanks!

A couple of the things above were required to get mine working. This is
what did it (run from the terminal along side of the broken desktop):

Ctrl>Alt>F1
# Login
export DISPLAY=:0
cd /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/
sudo mv libglx.so libglx.so.xorg
sudo cp libglx.so.340.32 libglx.so
gsettings reset org.compiz.core:/org/compiz/profiles/unity/plugins/core/
active-plugins
sudo reboot

[Bug 775425] Re: software center works only if started from terminal with "sudo"

2011-05-27 Thread Chris M
I am also suffering from this bug. Software Center and Update Manager
initially worked but now exhibit these exact same symptoms. I can't pin
down an exact change that may have caused this.

I am willing to provide any detail or debugging steps necessary to
troubleshoot this issue.

[Bug 441941] Re: grub fails after running Windows

2010-01-09 Thread Chris M
Dell Studio 1747, Windows 7 (with Dell Data Storage and MacAffee),
Kubuntu 9.10, same issue...

1) Several Anti-Virus and Recovery/Backup system were mention above. In
Windows, I could life on the windows side without the Dell software, but
would feel a bit unsafe without any anti-virus. Which software is now
causing the issue, i.e. need to be deactivated? Any final conclusions?

2) I feel this issue needs to be solved at Grubs on the long run. All
those workarounds are too complicated for non-experts. It seems that
many systems are effected, finding that issue is scary (not being able
to boot any OS anymore...), and resolving it is close to impossible for
newbies. Are there any efforts to fix it? Personally, I will wait for an
update before reinstalling Kubunt 9.10.

[Bug 469992] [NEW] Wireless disabled in BIOS on shutdown on Eee PC 900A

2009-11-01 Thread Chris M
Public bug reported:

I have an Eee PC 900a. I have been running the 9.04 netbook remix
without problems since release. I decided to install the 9.10 netbook
remix. I did a clean install.

Upon the 1st boot after installing the OS wifi did not work. I
discovered that it was disabled in the BIOS (a change I did not make).
Once enabled it worked fine, until the next reboot. Wireless also stops
working after resuming from a suspend. It appears that the wireless is
getting disabled in the BIOS upon shutdown or suspend. I have to
manually enable wifi in the BIOS upon every boot now.
