[Bug 1873746] Re: kmail in Kubuntu 20.04 beta cannot connect to dovecot IMAP server
The solution (for me) was to modify /etc/ssl/openssl.cnf after the line: oid_section = new_oids by adding: openssl_conf = default_conf [default_conf] ssl_conf = ssl_sect [ssl_sect] system_default = system_default_sect [system_default_sect] MinProtocol = TLSv1.2 CipherString = DEFAULT@SECLEVEL=1 This is obviously not a Kubuntu or KDE bug so I'll close this now. ** Changed in: kdepim (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1873746 Title: kmail in Kubuntu 20.04 beta cannot connect to dovecot IMAP server To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdepim/+bug/1873746/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1873746] Re: kmail in Kubuntu 20.04 beta cannot connect to dovecot IMAP server
Hi there, I have a strong suspicion that this is SSL related. I've found that this does not work: openssl s_client -connect example.com:993 [...] 139765775537472:error:141A318A:SSL routines:tls_process_ske_dhe:dh key too small:../ssl/statem/statem_clnt.c:2149: [...] but this does (found here: https://imlc.me/dh-key-too-small ): openssl s_client -connect example.com:993 --cipher 'DEFAULT:!DH' Now the received wisdom is that this is because of OpenSSL configuration and you can fix it by adding this to /etc/ssl/openssl.cnf: [system_default_sect] MinProtocol = TLSv1.2 CipherString = DEFAULT@SECLEVEL=2 However, that does not seem to work, either for the OpenSSL command line or for Akonadi. [Bug 1266200] [NEW] Kubuntu installer should offer btrfs RAID options when presented with two identical mount points
Public bug reported: When I was trying to install Kubuntu on my test system I thought I'd try and see if it would let me configure a RAID-1 btrfs as the root filesystem from the installer. So I configured two btrfs filesystems on different devices and set them both with the same mount point ( / ) hoping that it would consider that as a clue that I wanted it as RAID (and hopefully RAID-1). But instead it rejected the option, saying I had to choose a different mount point name for the second. It would be *really* nice if the installer could spot you picking the same mount point for multiple btrfs partitions on different devices and offer to built the filesystem as btrfs RAID-1 (or RAID-0 if you really don't like your data). [Bug 1266190] [NEW] partman fails to overwrite an already existing filesystem with btrfs
Public bug reported: When trying the current daily install image for Kubuntu 14.04 I found that when I tried to overwrite an old install that had ext4 on /dev/sda6 with a new one with btrfs on /dev/sda6 it would keep telling me that the creation of /dev/sda6 had failed. [Bug 1099371] Re: make-kpkg strips modules when CONFIG_MODULE_SIG is set, breaking crypto sigs
** Description changed: - Problem: + After doing a module install make-kpkg runs objcopy on the modules to + copy out the debug sections for a debug package. [Bug 1096497] Re: Disabling lock debugging due to kernel taint with no apparent cause
Hi there, Thanks for finding my patch on LKML, two points: 1) The updated reporting has been incorporated upstream for 3.9 by Rusty in commit 64748a2c9062da0c32b59c1b368a86fc4613b1e1. 2) Rusty additionally changed the code so that loading an unsigned module no longer disables lockdep checking in commit 373d4d099761cb1f637bed488ab3871945882273. The cause of the issue is that *after* doing the module install make- kpkg runs objcopy on the modules to copy out the debug sections for a debug package and then uses objcopy to remove the same debug sections (along with the crypto signatures) from the ones in the main package. :-(I've reported that as Ubuntu bug #1099371 (though my initial diagnosis was incorrect, I've updated it in the comments and will correct the description now). So until that's fixed all Raring kernels will be tainted on boot due to loading unsigned kernel modules (unless Ubuntu disables CONFIG_MODULE_SIG). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1096497 Title: Disabling lock debugging due to kernel taint with no apparent cause To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1096497/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1099371] Re: make-kpkg strips modules when CONFIG_MODULE_SIG is set, breaking crypto sigs
Please note that after I logged this bug I realised that the issue is not actually INSTALL_MOD_STRIP as the kernel signs the modules *after* they are stripped, so the signatures should be OK. I believe the issue is that *after* doing the module install make-kpkg then runs objcopy on the modules to copy out the debug sections for a debug package and then uses objcopy to remove the same debug sections (along with the signature) from the ones in the main package. :-( So currently this is affecting Raring (13.04) kernels causing them to be always tainted (I'll open a separate report to record that), thus: chris@quad:~$ dmesg | grep -i taint [2.003424] Disabling lock debugging due to kernel taint chris@quad:~$ grep -w F /proc/modules | wc -l 46 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1099371 Title: make-kpkg strips modules when CONFIG_MODULE_SIG is set, breaking crypto sigs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kernel-package/+bug/1099371/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1039261] Re: Version Error loading touchpad kcm: Xinput extension is too old
The title and summary of this bug needs to be fixed, it's misleading. The problem isn't with the XInput version, which is fine, it's that the Python code doesn't cope correctly with the error it is getting (BadValue) which indicates that a previous XIQueryVersion() call was made with a higher XInput version number (2.1) than the one it sent (2.0). This first call appears to now happen when the Python code does: class SynaptiksApplication(KUniqueApplication): which is on line 246 of /usr/share/pyshared/synaptiks/kde/trayapplication.py. A temporary workaround would be to change line 146 of /usr/share/pyshared/synaptiks/x11/input.py from: matched, actual_version = xinput.query_version(display, (2, 0)) to: matched, actual_version = xinput.query_version(display, (2, 1)) which will make it work until the XInput version changes again (or if the user runs the code on an older system with XInput version 2.0). Not entirely sure what the right fix should be, but I suspect this needs to be reported back upstream to KDE. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1039261 Title: Version Error loading touchpad kcm: Xinput extension is too old To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/synaptiks/+bug/1039261/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1039261] Re: Xinput extension is too old
Looking at the diff between libXi 1.6.0 (used in 12.04) and libXi 1.6.1 (used in 12.10) shows this in the notes: + Consecutive calls to XIQueryVersion by the same client always return the + first returned major.minor version. Looking deeper at the xtrace I captured before this looks to be exactly what is happening: 000:<:0096: 8: XInputExtension-Request(131,47): XIQueryVersion major=2 minor=1 000:>:0096:32: Reply to XIQueryVersion: major=2 minor=1 [...] 000:<:0100: 8: XInputExtension-Request(131,47): XIQueryVersion major=2 minor=0 000:>:0100:Error 2=Value: major=131, minor=47, bad=2 X Error: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation) 2 Extension:131 (XInputExtension) Minor opcode: 47 () Resource id: 0x2 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to synaptiks in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1039261 Title: Xinput extension is too old To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/synaptiks/+bug/1039261/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1039261] Re: Xinput extension is too old
It appears to be an X11 issue, the check itself is being done in libXi via: state = libXi.XIQueryVersion(display, byref(major), byref(minor)) The libXi XIQueryVersion code is here: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/lib/libXi/tree/src/XIQueryVersion.c That code appears to result in either BadRequest in case of an internal error, BadImplementation if it's the correct version or Success if all is OK. However, the Python code only checks for success and assumes that any failure is a version problem (not that issue seems to be the cause here). Running synaptiks from a bash shell under xtrace shows: [...] 000:<:0100: 8: XInputExtension-Request(131,47): XIQueryVersion major=2 minor=0 000:>:0100:Error 2=Value: major=131, minor=47, bad=2 X Error: BadValue (integer parameter out of range for operation) 2 Extension:131 (XInputExtension) Minor opcode: 47 () Resource id: 0x2 [...] So the X server is rejecting the version comparison. Under 12.04 the transaction is different, in that the request is for a minor version of 1, not 0: 000:<:0096: 8: XInputExtension-Request(141,47): XIQueryVersion major=2 minor=1 000:>:0096:32: Reply to XIQueryVersion: major=2 minor=1 Hope this helps! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1039261 Title: Xinput extension is too old To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/synaptiks/+bug/1039261/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 219868] Re: Boot fails with "initrd extends beyond end of memory" after upgrade to Hardy
I can confirm that this is an upstream bug in the Linux kernel and still affects all kernels up to and including 2.6.38.*. A fix has now been merged into 2.6.39 but it's a very trivial single letter change. The git commit is 39b68976ac653cfdc7f872a293e8b7928de2dcc6 in Linus's mainline tree and H. Peter Anvin describes it as: # When we use BIOS function e801 to probe memory, we should use ax/bx # (or cx/dx) as a pair, not mix and match. This was a typo during the # translation from assembly code, and breaks at least one set of # machines in the field (which return cx = dx = 0). [Bug 596327] Re: Digikam imports images taken with Nikon Cameras extremely slow, takes a large amount of time processing exif data
Excellent work Joshua, the only change I had to make to your patch (in order to add it automatically to the build in the debian/patches directory) was to change the references from src/$file to a/src/$file for lines removed and b/src/$file for lines added. Look at exiv2-0.19/debian/patches/00_hyphens_used_as_minus.diff as an example. I also named it 01_nikon_exif.diff and added it to the series file in debian/patches to automate its application. After rebuilding (and installing) the exiv2 packages and then rebuilding kdegraphics and installing the new libkexiv2-*.deb packages I was able to fire up digikam, shot some random images of my office and downloaded the images from the SD card of my D90 - much much faster! [Bug 276943] Re: Resume from suspend doesn't not work on the Mobile 4 Series chipsets
I'm having the same issue with my new work Dell E4200 with Intel Mobile 4 Series integrated graphics; on resume from hibernate or suspend I get a black X screen with the mouse pointer locked solid. I can also confirm that the work around of taking CPU1 offline prior to hibernating fixes it (haven't tested suspend yet). Attached lspci - output, will attach dmesg and Xorg.0.log in subsequent comments. ** Attachment added: "sudo lspci -" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/20040356/lspci.txt -- Resume from suspend doesn't not work on the Mobile 4 Series chipsets https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/276943 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 262605] Re: [intrepid] X locks up or crashes when screensaver activates
I just ran into this same bug having upgraded to Intrepid from Hardy (Kubuntu) using do_release_upgrade. One thing I note is that in the KDE desktop effects (advanced options) section the "Use VSync" option was enabled, so I've disabled that now and will see if it reoccurs in case it's related to the VBLANK issue mentioned above. -- [intrepid] X locks up or crashes when screensaver activates https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/262605 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 202952] Re: Add native ZFS to Ubuntu
Can I suggest rather than ask here for ZFS support those who wish to see it included go and lobby Sun for a GPL compatible release of the full code base please ? As Alan Cox wrote in July when asked if the release of the GRUB code meant ZFS could now be implemented in the kernel: > No we can't. The GPL ZFS bits don't include the various methods that > would violate the patent so there is no grant. I've several times asked > Sun to simply give permission and they don't even answer. [Bug 243690] Re: kde4 logon failure...
This affects Intrepid, I just upgraded a laptop from Hardy to Intrepid with "do-release-upgrade -d" and have run into this. On the other hand it appears that run_parts is not a typo, but is a shell function defined in /etc/gdm/Xsession which isn't getting used in this case. Result - you cannot login from KDM. :-( -- kde4 logon failure... https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/243690 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
