[Bug 1441592] Re: Unity restart broken (Vivid)

[Bug 1079283] Re: Unity ignores Gnome privacy settings

2013-04-29 Thread Christian Dannie Storgaard
It also happens on my system for files that are not in a Shotwell
library (I don't use Shotwell and some files are text so shouldn't end
up in Shotwell anyway).

To me, it seems the recently-used.xbel file is read, but not filtered. I've
created a small Python script to filter the recently-used.xbel file according
to the Zeitgeist blacklist - something like this ought to be implemented in the
Dash.

[Bug 444950] Re: sound stops working with pulseaudio

2011-05-26 Thread Christian Dannie Storgaard
My sound card supports surround and I've noticed that if I switch the
output to that and back to stereo, the problem disappears for a while
(making me think it's a buffer issue). It also works with switching to
the sound card's digital output, but causes an audible pause in sound.

To do this for me when the sound starts crackling, I've added a launcher to
Unity that simply has this as its Exec line:
sh -c pactl set-card-profile 'alsa_card.pci-_00_14.2'
'output:analog-surround-40' ; pactl set-card-profile
'alsa_card.pci-_00_14.2' 'output:analog-stereo'

This of course only works on my computer due to the PCI address, but the
concept should work in general.

[Bug 520515] Re: Fonts in Java application are distorted

2010-03-29 Thread Christian Dannie Storgaard
Also, since Sun's Java was mentioned earlier, here's a more correct
way of installing it in Lucid:

sudo apt-add-repository 'deb http://archive.canonical.com/ lucid partner'
sudo apt-get update
sudo aptitude install sun-java6-jre

If you just want to run a single application in Sun's Java, you can run:

/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/bin/java -jar /path/to/program.jar

else, as Philipp Lies wrote, type:

sudo update-alternatives --config java

and select /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/bin/java (probably the
selection labeled 2)

[Bug 508846] [NEW] Key presses are not always registered

2010-01-17 Thread Christian Dannie Storgaard
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

Almost half the time I press either Ctrl+C to copy or Ctrl+X to cut (move) a
file, Nautilus fails to recognize it.
The same thing also happens when renaming files and using Ctrl+C to paste in
the new filename - if I press Enter to quickly after pasting, the file is not
renamed but the renaming process still completes.
I have tested this on several computers and versions of Ubuntu/Nautilus, so it
is not a keyboard or computer disfunction.

[Bug 508859] [NEW] Contents of clipboard disappears when cutting (moving) files

2010-01-17 Thread Christian Dannie Storgaard
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

To reproduce:
Copy some text from anywhere to the clipboard.
Cut a file in Nautilus (right-click a file and select cut or select a file and
click Ctrl+X)
Try pasting in any program other than Nautilus (preferably a program that
accepts text input, e.g. a text editor)
The filename of the cut file is inserted.

What was expected:
The original copied text should have been inserted.

Reasoning:
Since cutting a file is removing it from its destination and putting it
somewhere else, pasting in something else than a file manager does not yield
the expected operation.

Suggested fix:
Nautilus should keep a copy of the current contents of the clipboard when doing
a cut operation, check if the target of the paste is a file manager (or other
program that accepts a file as input) and continue the operation as it
functions now if it is, or the previous contents of the clipboard if it is not.
