[Bug 351306] [NEW] akonadi causes high cpu usage
Public bug reported: I have some ical- and vcards-files configured in akonadi as resources. After I've updated from Intrepid to Jaunty, akonadi and dbus where causing a high cpu usage. The resource with id 12 (akonadi_ical_resource_12) is a simple ical file with only a few entries. No IMAP here! After restarting the akondi server this behaviour comes back. [Bug 350397] Re: [Dell Inc. Latitude D620] suspend/resume failure [non-free: nvidia]
Some further update on this problem. Resume fails even if the notebook is not docked at all (contrary to my previous comment). But suspend/resume works fine (even networking with network manager is up) when I use pm-suspend from the terminal. The downside with this method is that the KDE session is not locked after a resume (which should be, specially speaking about a notebook computer). So I will add kde-base to this bug report as probably power-devil is causing this problem (which would handle a suspend request via the power management plasma widget). ** Also affects: kdebase (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Summary changed: - [Dell Inc. [Bug 346678] [NEW] error messages from akonaditray after log in and high cpu usage
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kdepim After I've upgraded from Intrepid to Jaunty, I always get the following error message (11 times, for each my resources) after I log into KDE (or when I restart the akonadi server): "Unknown error. (Could not create collection)" Despite these error messages, akonadi seems to work as I can access my address books and calendars in Kontact. Nevertheless, there is a permanent high cpu usage from akonadiserver and akonadi_[ical|kcal|vcard]_resource, which sum up to about 20%. There was no high cpu usage on Intrepid. If I stop akonadiserver, the high cpu usage stops too. Furthermore, the akonadi resources and the akonadi mysql server are permanently writing to the disk (once per second) - I can see these processes on top of iotop all the time. [Bug 273323] Re: Regression: Intrepid - 2.6.27 hangs on resume
After adding the exit command as you suggested, nothing happened when pressing the sleep button as powerdevil (which didn't come with default profiles and didn't have the option to react on sleep button events until the latest version) wasn't configured to issue any action. When I set up powerdevil to suspend my computer if the sleep button is pressed, I did so, but the resume didn't work as before. I don't know what powerdevil does in the event of a sleep request - maybe it does more than just calling pm-suspend. Currently, running "sudo pm-suspend" from the terminal is the best way to have a working resume. I can live with that. BTW, after updating the the newest kernel version (2.6.27-5-generic) it seems that resume is faster than before - but maybe this is only because my computer is currently not docked into the docking station - will test that in the evening again. -- Regression: Intrepid - 2.6.27 hangs on resume https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/273323 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I meant that you blacklist it from suspend[1], which would mean that the driver is removed prior suspend and then loaded again. If you don't blacklist it, then the system tries to suspend the device, which can cause problems if the device and/or the driver do not properly support it. Thus removing it before suspend and loading it again afterwards can have a different behavior. [Bug 273323] Re: Regression: Intrepid - 2.6.27 hangs on resume
I've noticed that this problem is probably not directly caused by the kernel, thus I will add some other packages. I just managed to suspend/resume several times with "sudo pm-suspend" from the terminal - without any problem. But when I use the hotkeys of my notebook computer for standby, then it suspends, but crashes on resume. I can see from the log files that pm-suspend is called this way too - but there seem to be more programs involved in the process. What else tries to take care about suspension? I've powerdevil for KDE installed, but before I had kde-guidance - it crashed with either of them. In the past (at hardy times), I had problems at resume with kde- guidance as well, but I could use kpowersave, which worked without any problem. So what does e.g. powerdevil do (despite of lock kde session at resume), that makes the kernel crash? ** Also affects: powerdevil (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Regression: Intrepid - 2.6.27 hangs on resume https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/273323 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 273323] Re: Regression: Intrepid - 2.6.27 hangs on resume
Hi Chris, I've noticed this error message before and read the info in the sources too but it doesn't say anything to me. My computer is for sure not too slow, having a dual core CPU and 2GB of RAM. And it worked in the past without any problems. Hardy was the first time when I could suspend and resume countless times without any worries. Yesterday I did a suspend with pm-suspend from the console. I could resume after that without any problem. Doing a 2nd suspend, the kernel hard crashed (flashing lights) after resume. This time I used the hot keys on my laptop computer, but obviously pm-suspend is called this way too (according to the suspend logs). I will attach the new kern.log. [Bug 188373] Re: kde-guidance doesn't react on special hotkeys anymore
I'm re-opening this bug report again. Currently there is guidance-power-manager 4:4.1.0-0ubuntu3 installed. My laptop is a DELL Latitude D620, which has a hotkey for suspend, hibernate and battery status. Guidance power manager only reacts on the hibernate button with a suspend (it's called standby in the configuration). It doesn't react on the suspend, nor on the battery status button. If I press the suspend button, then I can see a event in "lshal -m", but there is obviously no event via hal for the hibernate and battery status button. I don't know if this is a guidance power manager problem or a hal problem, so I will include both packages in this bug report. BTW, kpowersave behaves as expected, so it's maybe still a guidance power manager problem. Pls advise how I can provide more debugging information. ** Changed in: kde-guidance (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => New ** Also affects: guidance-power-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: hal (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- kde-guidance doesn't react on special hotkeys anymore https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/188373 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 185471] Re: Problems with suspend
Hi Thomas, I can't see from the logs what is really causing the problems (maybe someone from the kernel team could), but maybe an update to intrepid of your full system would help. I'm running intrepid on my one and only laptop since months. Sure there where some problems sometimes, but now as the release is due soon, there are no big changes any more. But be warned, that an update could cause problems, so backup your data. E.g., pm-utils in intrepid has seen a lot of changes - just have a look at the changelog: http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/changelogs/pool/main/p /pm-utils/pm-utils_1.1.2.4-1ubuntu1/changelog If you want to stay with hardy for now you could have a look at uswsusp. Thomas, why don't you use the pm-utils? Try to suspend with "sudo pm- suspend". If this doesn't work either, have a look into the log files (/var/log/pm-suspend.log). In the log you attached on 1.2.2008 it says: [ 731.428381] Suspending console(s) [ 731.431397] suspend_device(): usb_suspend+0x0/0x30 [usbcore]() returns -32 [ 731.431468] Could not suspend device 3-2.1: error -32 [ 731.442525] Some devices failed to suspend So which usb device do you have which couldn't be suspended?
