[Bug 1072146] Re: [Lenovo Thinkpad X220, Conexant CX20590] No microphone input

2012-11-09 Thread Christian Stefanescu
This is highly irritating, because at some point after the fresh
installation the microphone worked perfectly fine, including Skype and
everything. Could it be that a reinstallation would help? I already
tried the 12.04 LTS Live-USB and it didn't seem to work there either.

Sorry, what I meant to say is that the trick with the L/R channel muting
did NOT work.

2012-11-04 Thread Christian Stefanescu
Unfortunately the trick with the L/R channel muting worked (on both
"Internal Microphone" and "Microphone" devices I can see in
pavucontrol). I tried to install the alsa-hda-dkms .deb provided in that
ticket, but it doesn't seem to install cleanly. I'm pasting the output
from dpkg -i and also the referenced make.log file

[Bug 710127] [NEW] Desktop notifications from Chromium can not be closed

2011-01-30 Thread Christian Stefanescu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: chromium-browser

Desktop notifications from Chromium can only be closed in the first few
seconds after appearing. After this time they remain open, hovering the
'x' for closing doesn't work and the only workaround is to disable and
re-enable compositing (in my case: metacity compositing).

[Bug 710125] [NEW] Chromium leaves trails when compositing is turned on

2011-01-30 Thread Christian Stefanescu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: chromium-browser

When resizing or moving Chromium the window leaves ugly trails on my
desktop. I can wipe them away by "scrubbing" backwards and forwards with
the window or if I disable and re-enable the built-in compositing of
Metacity.

The gconf-editor trick you mentioned earlier seemed to have worked for me.
Haven't had the problem since.

[Bug 521290] Re: keyboard layouts - no default layout for system

2010-04-25 Thread Christian Stefanescu
I have this issue too, I use two keyboard layouts: US and DE (German).
Although US is at the top of the list (I believe this is how the default
is set), sometimes the layout changes randomly to DE; usually when
switching apps (although "Separate layout for each window" is disabled).

I believe the older Gnome versions had a "default" checkbox for each
entry in the layout list.

[Bug 217668] Re: no battery detected

2009-01-12 Thread Christian Stefanescu
I just installed Fedora 10, which uses kernel 2.6.27.5-117.fc10.i686 and
it also can't find my battery. So it's either a kernel issue or a real
hardware one :(

[Bug 217668] Re: no battery detected

2008-11-26 Thread Christian Stefanescu
I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 with Ubuntu 8.10 and I also don't get my
battery detected (and thus, not charged).

Uname: Linux whatthedell 2.6.27-10-generic #1 SMP Fri Nov 21 12:00:22
UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux

#cat /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/info
present: no

#hal-find-by-capability --capability "battery"
[no output]

Should I try kernel 2.6.26? What other output do you need?

I'm bumping this improvement request, because I also believe it would
help a lot. Not only us ubuntu users, but also windows users considering
to switch. The simple ways of Synaptic are a huge argument.

[Bug 44983] Re: Random connection drops from the xserver

2006-06-18 Thread Christian Stefanescu
I'm experiencing exactly this bug when running either SwiftFox or
Firefox (both 1.5.0.4.). I'm surfing, and when I switch tabs or close a
tab, I get this error :

"The application 'Gecko' lost its connection to the display :0.0;
most likely the X server was shut down or you killed/destroyed
the application."

I run a dapper server install on which I installed Fluxbox 1.0rc
(compiled by me) running on Xorg 7.0.0-0ubuntu45.
