I am experiencing this issue too:

$ sudo dmidecode -s system-product-name
MacBookPro5,2

$ lsb_release -r
Release:11.04

I have tried everything previously discussed in the comments. The only
thing that works reliably is making sure that I boot OS X and then
restart to Linux.

This is still a problem in Hardy Beta for me.  I'm using a Macbook and a
bluetooth mouse.
