[Bug 1239578] Re: No wireless support for Realtek RTL8192EE [10ec:818b]
PS. Just to check, I set up the wireless with no authentication, with the same results, apart from the line about WEP. If I turn off/on wireless networking, I can connect to the wifi again briefly. However, afterwards it does not even appear in the menu (probably thinks it's out of range) unless I turn off/on wifi again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1239578 Title: No wireless support for Realtek RTL8192EE [10ec:818b] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hwe-next/+bug/1239578/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 842947] Re: [SB-XFi - Creative X-Fi, recording] No sound at all
Hi Jarno, here are two screen-shots of my alsamixer UI for steps 2 and 3 from http://fixedproblem.blogspot.fi/2012/03/creative-x-fi-xtrememusic-ubuntu-1110.html And also screen-shots of my sound settings for output and input. Don't know if they'll help at all. Seems like Dell has installed a sound card from hell... :-/ If you have any further ideas for things I could try, let me know. I'll give them a shot once I'm back at work on Monday. Have a nice weekend! Christos On 14/06/13 17:55, Jarno Suni wrote: > Please note that pressing M toggles muted and unmuted state. Re: [Bug 842947] Re: [SB-XFi - Creative X-Fi, recording] No sound at all
Dear Jarno, thank you for looking into this! Unfortunately, I still have the same problem. For some reason I think that the microphone jack is recognised as an output instead of an input. I've tried installing hda-jack-retask but this one doesn't work with my sound card. Indeed, on the page you've sent me, at step 2, it says: 2. alsamixer will open in the terminal. Use your arrow keys to move over to "Digit-IO". Press the "M" key and you should hear sound from your mic. Now arrow left to "Mic" and hold the down arrow key until the levels go to 0. When I press the M key I hear nothing. My current OS (System details) is: ubuntu 12.04 LTS, 64 bit uname -a Linux sloane 3.5.0-18-generic #29-Ubuntu SMP Thu Oct 25 07:26:14 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux No longer remember how to produce the full system info dump that I had submitted - would be more than glad to resubmit the info if I remembered the command... All the best and thanks again for the effort! [Bug 945006] Re: Screen flickers heavily after upgrading to 12.04 beta 1
Hi, after reading comment #27, I upgraded again from 11.10 to 12.04 and the problem has disappeared almost completely. Now there is no flickering during regular use of the laptop. There is a small nuisance left though, don't know if it is worth fixing. Short flickering appears during logging in: 1. Boot laptop 2. Enter the password and press enter 3. [Bug 915030] [NEW] Emacs23 23.3+1-1ubuntu4 and UTF-8 files - doesn't seem to work
Public bug reported: I've been trying to edit UTF-8 files with emacs (emacs23 23.3+1-1ubuntu4) but it doesn't seem to work. The UTF-8 characters don't appear (I get boxes) and emacs doesn't want to save the file in utf-8, asking me instead to choose a different format. I can view the files with less without any problems (before I attempt to edit them with emacs - once emacs tries to save them back they seem to be damaged). I've also tested it with the UTF-8 sampler page found here (same results): http://www.columbia.edu/~fdc/utf8/ Xemacs seems to be having the same problems too (xemacs21-mule 21.4.22-3.1ubuntu1).
