On my mail server which is based onto an Ubuntu server 10.04 64 bit, I
found that randomly the mimedefang tool crashes giving the following
errors (from /var/log/mail.log)

Looking for the problem on other forums (not Ubuntu related) I've found that
there is an issue with versions after 2.67 of the mimedefang package and perl
5.10 on 64 bit platforms, when the mimedefang scripts run user embedded perl
code, as in my case.
The problem occurs randomly not appearing for several days, leaving everything
working.
As a first work-around I've increased the pool for slaves to 100, leaving 10
slaves running at any time. This seemed to have mitigated the issue, but this
week I am already at the second restart of mimedefang...
