[Bug 1630063] Re: specific USB devices disconnect and don't reconnect

2016-12-27 Thread Cody Smith
latest update is looking good, this bug hasn't surfaced since I rebooted
about 15 minutes ago (and the bug always appeared well before that,
within 5 minutes if that)

[Bug 1630063] Re: specific USB devices disconnect and don't reconnect

2016-10-06 Thread Cody Smith
Okay, spoke too soon, and found what might be the device causing all
this headache: my USB headset that works just fine with kernels before
this, but on 4.8 seems to cause issues with ohci-pci. The minute I plug
the headset in (or seconds afterwards), ohci-pci dies, so I'm thinking
it may be a driver issue.

[Bug 1630063] Re: specific USB devices disconnect and don't reconnect

2016-10-06 Thread Cody Smith
Alright, results of that kernel aren't good, it doesn't even boot on my
system, it just hangs just after grub hands over. But there was a new
update for the 4.8 series, and for the meantime the usb bug doesn't seem
to have hit yet, we'll see if it does before the end of tomorrow.

[Bug 1630063] Re: specific USB devices disconnect and don't reconnect

2016-10-06 Thread Cody Smith
Sorry about the wait, had a drive mysteriously stop working (pinned the
issue to a faulty SATA cable, still took out a good portion of my
install), gonna try that here in a few minutes (meaning when I get the
packages installed). I'll report back with the results.

** Tags added: apport-collected yakkety

** Description changed:

2 USB ports randomly disconnect and don't reconnect (it's always the
same two), and in dmesg all I get is

hardware failure will only stick to one OS and one branch of the kernel for
that OS. (these USB ports don't randomly die on Windows or BSD, I've tested
that in the past couple of days)

[Bug 1222586] [NEW] Gnome Online Accounts and Empathy don't connect to Facebook

2013-09-08 Thread Cody Smith
Public bug reported:

I have been experiencing this bug for a few months now in Ubuntu Gnome
12.10 and Ubuntu 12.04 (via Ubuntu Online Accounts) where when I add a
FB account, it looks okay UNTIL I try and connect to it with, well,
anything even the GOA itself, I tried 13.10 (like I usually do with
alpha/beta releases) and this bug is still present, what's more is this
bug is present in OTHER distros (I'm filing a bug on the Gnome bugzilla
as I type), reason I'm filing this here is I'm making sure it's not
something in Ubuntu that isn't playing nice (doubtful since Arch doesn't
inherit the patches from Ubuntu)

What I expected to happen: Facebook to work with GOA and Empathy,
What actually happened: GOA looked like it tried to connect to FB, but gets an
authorization error, I double and triple checked the details I entered, even
resorted to copy/paste.

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10

[Bug 1169984] Re: 3.8.0-18 HDMI audio regression: Either oops or opening device fails with -ENODEV

2013-05-03 Thread Cody Smith
the reason they don't go to 3.9 (this is my assumption) is that FGLRX
doesn't support it yet, and possibly not Nvidia's drivers, and very
possibly other proprietary drivers. They want Ubuntu to be usable by as
wide an audience as possible, and going to 3.9 when many drivers don't
support it is a big step backwards in that area. remember: Ubuntu isn't
just about you, but EVERYBODY who uses it and works on it.

[Bug 1169984] Re: 3.8.0-18 HDMI audio regression: Either oops or opening device fails with -ENODEV

2013-05-03 Thread Cody Smith
@ giacof, true, true, patches are a different beast than just upgrading
the kernel, I wasn't even saying that patches should be applied.

@ Cleber, the latest upstream AMD Drivers (13.4) only JUST got support
for 3.8, nothing on 3.9 so I myself would be out a working video card
(the open-source AMD driver doesn't work with my AMD Radeon HD 6670,
kernel panic soon after boot) so I'd have to use my onboard AMD card,
with is inferior to the PCI one.

2013-05-03 Thread Cody Smith
yeah, one of several reasons I'm considering picking up a new PSU and
Nvidia GPU to replace my Radeon 6670, a better power supply would be
needed, or I'd run into trouble, as my power supply is relatively low.

2013-04-18 Thread Cody Smith
Public bug reported:

HDMI Video works fine, but can't get any sound, no matter what version
of FGLRX I try (the ones in the repository or directly from AMD) or
whether I add radeon.audio=1 to GRUB.

Package Version: 2:9.010-0ubuntu2
Ubuntu Version: Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail (Development Branch)

What I expected to happen: Sound to work with HDMI
What actually happened: HDMI didn't even appear in the sound settings

** Affects: fglrx-installer-updates (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Attachment added: Verbose Pulseaudio Log, in case it's needed

Just thought I'd add that the USC is unuseable (crashes shortly after
starting) and that is possibly related. as this is the USC getting the
catalogue update.

[Bug 946730] Re: Ubiquity crashes when selecting manual disk setup in 12.04

2012-03-06 Thread Cody Smith
It did not give the opportunity, just booted me straight to the Live
session, saying it was doing so so I could retry. and I don't have the
logs, running 11.10, I'll try 12.04 tomorrow and see if I can get it to
spit out a log.
