I can't use nvidia.ko now because it crashes, and nv doesn't control my gpu fan (psu load goes up because of the fan being at full speed all the time) -- glxinfo + 185.18.14-0ubuntu1 on latest karmic = xserver crash https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/394801 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 394801] [NEW] glxinfo + 185.18.14-0ubuntu1 on latest karmic = xserver crash
Public bug reported: As soon as I type glxinfo, the xserver crashes. It also randomly crashes as soon as I activate compositing, and glx performance is somewhat bad (warzone for instance is sluggish in some cases). lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu karmic (development branch) Release:9.10 apt-cache policy nvidia-glx-180 nvidia-glx-180: Installé : 185.18.14-0ubuntu1 Candidat : 185.18.14-0ubuntu1 Table de version : *** 185.18.14-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com karmic/restricted Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status BTW, I had to apply the workaround in this bug to get there : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-180/+bug/394262 as I have this kernel : apt-cache policy linux-image-generic linux-image-generic: Installé : 2.6.31.1.11 Candidat : 2.6.31.1.11 Table de version : *** 2.6.31.1.11 0 500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com karmic/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status I don't know if it worked on previous kernel or nvidia versions in karmic as I just upgraded. It worked perfectly on jaunty (no crashed, good performance with warzone) I have a backtrace in xorg.log when it crashes : acktrace: 0: /usr/bin/X(xorg_backtrace+0x26) [0x4efd96] 1: /usr/bin/X(xf86SigHandler+0x41) [0x484e01] 2: /lib/libc.so.6 [0x7fb646e290b0] 3: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//nvidia_drv.so(_nv001466X+0x2f) [0x7fb6440a2dff] 4: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//nvidia_drv.so [0x7fb64431531f] 5: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//nvidia_drv.so [0x7fb64431f49b] 6: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers//nvidia_drv.so [0x7fb644320dc3] 7: /usr/bin/X [0x537e54] 8: /usr/bin/X [0x531182] 9: /usr/bin/X(Dispatch+0x384) [0x44dd84] 10: /usr/bin/X(main+0x3b5) [0x433f05] 11: /lib/libc.so.6(__libc_start_main+0xe6) [0x7fb646e145e6] 12: /usr/bin/X [0x433389] Saw signal 11. [Bug 220135] Re: Hard lock booting/logging out/restarting [Q965]
Debian 2.3.0 package corrects the problem here too. Intrepid works too, but at least for some kubuntu users like me, it will be a while before I will consider using it for work (KDE 4.1 is still far from KDE 3 on functionality) -- Hard lock booting/logging out/restarting [Q965] https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/220135 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
