Re: [Bug 2069596] Re: blocks wrong IPv4 and IPv6 addresses on LE systems (reversed byte order)

2024-06-18 Thread Cyril Brulebois
Hi,

Mark Esler <2069...@bugs.launchpad.net> (2024-06-19):
> Thank you for taking the time to report this Cyril.

No worries at all.

> Do you know if Google intends to assign a CVE?

That I don't know, I've been mainly in contact with CrowdSec's upstream
developers (who notified me about the problem with the Debian/Ubuntu
packages) and with the various Debian teams to see how to best address
this in stable (i.e. security then release teams).

Note the google/nftables issue was detected and fixed a year ago
already, we just failed to notice earlier. :(

Cheers,

Exact same problem here but for me it happens with both Desktop Icon NG
extension enabled or disabled. This is pretty annoying since the only
workaround is to logout and login again. And I use Ctrl+Tab a lot which
totally breaks with this bug.

[Bug 1826665] [NEW] openstack image list does not list *all* images

2019-04-27 Thread Cyril Roelandt

The admin cannot list all images at once. There is a "--community"
option that allows the admin to see all community images, but not other
images. The glanceclient provide "glance image-list --visibility all",
and the OpenStack client should have something similar.

[Bug 1768976] Re: Ubuntu 18.04 is overheating after upgrade from 16.04

2018-09-28 Thread Cyril Soler
Same for me: ubuntu 18.04 just installed on Dell Precision M3800.

Before I was on 16.04 and CPU temp during normal session was about 47-55
deg.

Now, it's constantly at 63-80 deg.

I tried lots of tweaks (install thermald, tlp, cpufreq-selector, etc).
Nothing worked until now. I'm seriously considering to go back to 16.04,
or switch to anything else that would not slowly kill my hardware.

[Bug 1745826] Re: grub update fails because new version of shim want remove shim-signed package

2018-01-28 Thread Cyril Brulebois
This failure to upgrade cleanly is due to the shim-signed FTBFS:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shim-
signed/1.33.1~16.04.1/+build/14262252

which given the Breaks against earlier versions make new shim and old
shim-signed non co-installable.

[Bug 1438510] Re: [REGRESSION] bluetooth headset no longer supports a2dp

2016-09-09 Thread Cyril Humbert
The present bug is probably related to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1574324 .

The comment given
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1574324/comments/15
seems to confirm #35 and #38: the regression is caused by some patch applied
for the Ubuntu
Pulseaudio package.

[Bug 1617599] Re: Resume from suspend causes reboot, except if USB key is plugged in

2016-09-02 Thread Cyril Soler
I do not have windows, but I suppose that the same would apply on
windows. It seems to me indeed that when the computer is woken up, the
operating system doesn't even have a clue (as I can see in the various
logs in /var/log) that is gets started up from scratch instead of being
woken up from S3 mode.

I upgraded my BIOS to A10 yesterday. The same exact bug remains.

[Bug 1617599] Re: Resume from suspend causes reboot, except if USB key is plugged in

2016-08-28 Thread Cyril Soler
It seems to be a problem of misconfigured BIOS. In the first place I had
to enable "USB Wake support" in the bios (v.A09) in order to allow the
computer to wake up. Before that, it would just not wake up at all and
needed a hard reboot to do so. I'm not sure that Linux is at stake at
all.

[Bug 1617599] [NEW] Resume from suspend causes reboot, except if USB key is plugged in

2016-08-27 Thread Cyril Soler
Public bug reported:

I have been struggling to find out how to get my laptop (Dell M3800)
using ubuntu 16.04 to resume from suspend. It goes into suspend (with no
errors in /var/log/pm-suspend.log). But when resuming, it immediately
reboots, with no errors in /var/log/pm-suspend either.

*but*

Resume works perfectly when a USB key is plugged in (any key!).

PS: I figured that out because suspend/resume works out of the box when
using ubuntu 16.04 live CD, but not when using the fresh installed 16.04
afterwards. What's the difference?? There's a key in the USB port in the
first case. So I tried suspend/resume with the *installed* version when
a USB key is present: it works.

** Affects: linux (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: Incomplete

[Bug 1438510] Re: [REGRESSION] bluetooth headset no longer supports a2dp

2016-07-09 Thread Cyril Humbert
Updated procedure for comment #35, allowing to install more easily
Debian Testinf pulseaudio package on Ubunutu 16.04.

 1. Stop pulseaudio. Then, backup and purge pulseudio user conf files.

 2. Install pulseaudio Debian Testing (June 2016) packages over Ubuntu
pulseaudio packages. This will appear as a kind of downgrade. See
get-pulseaudio8-debian-amd64.sh script. If you use
pulseaudio-module-x11 too, use the corresponding Debian Testing
version too to satisfy dependencies.

 3. Restart.

 4. A2DP profile should now work as expected with the default
BlueZ, pulseaudio configuration. Use pavucontrol to select
A2DP profile if needed.

  USB ID = 0a12:0001

The following procedure solved the problem for us:

 1. Purge Ubuntu pulseaudio packages and conf files. Backup and purge
pulseaudio user conf files too.

 2. Install the corresponding packages from Debian testing (June 2016).
See attached script (get-pulseaudio8-debian-amd64.sh).

 3. Restart.

 4. A2DP profile should now work as expected with the default
bluez/pulseaudio configuration (Use pavucontrol to select A2DP
if needed).

Since Debian Testing (June 2016) and Ubuntu 16.04 are based on the
same pulseaudio upstream version (8.0) this suggests that this
regression is maybe due to a difference in Debian and Ubuntu
packaging: either the compilation options, the default conf or the
specific patches (e.g. Ubuntu packages include more specific patches).

[Bug 1439101] Re: For some operators MMS is unreliable

2015-08-27 Thread Cyril Girard
Hello,

OTA-6 is installed on my Meizu MX4 since yesterday but I can't received MMS. It
was the same thing with OTA-5.
However I can send MMS with or without wifi. It is also OK with data.

My provider is Sosh by Orange, a french provider. Basic or custom APN,
nothing happens.

Settings are :
APN = orange.acte
MMSC = http://mms.orange.fr
Proxy = 192.168.10.200
Port = 8080
User = orange
Password = orange

Any ideas ?

Thanks

[Bug 1472471] Re: XServer crash logs the user off randomly

2015-08-03 Thread Cyril Soler
So, I switched to UXA, which I did by adding a file "20-intel.conf" containing
this:

Section "Device"
Identifier "Intel Graphics"
Driver "intel"
Option "AccelMethod" "uxa"
EndSection

The bug seems to be gone this way. But apparently the UXA mode has its
own problems (such as gnome-terminal invariably freezing the entire
session (mouse included) for 15 secs).

Hope that helps
Thanks
C.

[Bug 1472471] Re: XServer crash logs the user off randomly

2015-07-23 Thread Cyril Soler
I dont have an /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. Still, my /var/log/Xorg.0.log
states that the accel method used is indeed SNA. In which file can I
specify the "uxa" parameter?

[36.193] (II) intel(0): SNA initialized with Haswell (gen7.5,
gt2) backend

It's using /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/*, but there's no file in there
that would contain a "Device" section.

Should I create a Xorg.conf file in /etc/X11/ from scratch and put that
in it?

Section "Device"
Identifier "intel"
Driver "intel"
BusID "PCI:0@0:2:0"
Option "AccelMethod" "UXA"
EndSection

[Bug 1472471] Re: XServer crash logs the user off randomly

2015-07-23 Thread Cyril Soler
Seriously? You would like me to back up all my data, wipe off my
install, re-encrypt all my disks, re-install ubuntu, re-parameterize all
the fonts/apps that took me a while to get working on a high DPI screen,
just for the sake of testing if the bug has been fixed in the next
(still not even beta) release?

I wold not like to sound rude, but that stands really beyond the limit
of the help I can practically provide.

Honnestly, 14.04 being long term support, I will stick to it. As I said,
if you need me to install intel_drv with debug symbols, please tell me
how and I'll do it.

[Bug 1472471] Re: XServer crash logs the user off randomly

2015-07-14 Thread Cyril Soler
I could not reproduce that bug using the live CD for 1 hour. Given that
I'm not using unity, given that the bug happens in a way that is very
unpredictable (sometimes 2-3 times in a row in 10 minutes, then nothing
for several days), this does not mean that this bug is fixed. I'm not
even sure that the live CD uses the same driver (intel_drv) which seems
responsible for the crash.

That bug happened to me once again 1 hour ago (exact same callstack).

Being myself a developer, I can if you indicate me how, install debug
symbols for that module (does this exist?) and give you more info. From
my experience, a bug like this seems to depend on some unitialized
variable which value depends on what's in the graphics memory at the
time of use.

Is there a way not to use intel_drv?

thx for the help

[Bug 1315770] Re: [Dell Precision M3800, Realtek ALC668, Black Headphone Out, Left] Strong background noise

2015-07-07 Thread Cyril Soler
Apparently I've just got the exact same bug, with the same machine (M3800).
My kernel currently is 3.16.0-43. The bug also shows up with 3.16.0-41.
It makes the headphones absolutely unusable.

The white noise sound pops up when the sound card is woken up, and it
disappears (or more precisely gets down to a very low level) when the
sound card returns to sleep, a few seconds after being released by the
application that used it.

[Bug 1101402] Re: No support for German language gimp kubuntu 12.04 LTS

2014-10-27 Thread Cyril Chaboisseau
that's right, since I'm using Kubuntu (KDE), I (wrongly) assumed that I
didn't have to install gnome package but I forgot that Gimp is using gtk
libraries

and indeed, after installing language-pack-gnome-fr it works!

as a side note, it is interesting to see the different approaches
between Debian who chooses to install all language within each package,
and Ubuntu who prefer to have all localisations/translation for all
packages but on only the desired languages

thanks

[Bug 1101402] Re: No support for German language gimp kubuntu 12.04 LTS

2014-10-27 Thread Cyril Chaboisseau
I confirm that the gimp package in Ubuntu doesn't ship with *ANY*
localisation (it's not only a problem with German translations) while
the Debian package has it

as a consequence, in Debian there are several files in
/usr/share/locale/fr/LC_MESSAGES :
ls -l /usr/share/locale/fr/LC_MESSAGES/gimp20*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 31857 oct. 16 16:00
/usr/share/locale/fr/LC_MESSAGES/gimp20-libgimp.mo
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 288394 sept. 21 03:28
/usr/share/locale/fr/LC_MESSAGES/gimp20.mo
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 5915 sept. 21 03:28
/usr/share/locale/fr/LC_MESSAGES/gimp20-python.mo
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 45770 sept. 21 03:28
/usr/share/locale/fr/LC_MESSAGES/gimp20-script-fu.mo
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 212059 sept. 21 03:28
/usr/share/locale/fr/LC_MESSAGES/gimp20-std-plug-ins.mo
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 13902 sept. 21 03:28
/usr/share/locale/fr/LC_MESSAGES/gimp20-tips.mo

and this is not the case in Ubuntu

comparing both packaging (the debian/rules file), in Ubuntu there is a
"cleaning" in the common-install-impl:: part (lines 43-49) that seem to
delete all the GETTEXT_PACKAGE

conclusion: either Ubuntu should not delete the l10n files, or create some
sub-package for each languages
(gimp-l10-de gimp-l10-fr, etc.)

[Bug 1317522] Re: Hotplug of ExpressCard failed

2014-05-14 Thread Cyril Margorin
After reading the bug #1091125 I decided to test the named kernels.

3.10.0 - works fine
3.11.0 - works fine
3.12.0 - broken
3.11.10.10 - works

Should I re-open the other bug, and mark this as duplicate?

[Bug 1317522] [NEW] Hotplug of ExpressCard failed

2014-05-08 Thread Cyril Margorin
Public bug reported:

I develop the driver for ExpressCard hardware manufactured by our company.
I installed the latest Ubuntu 14.04 just before the release of it on my Dell
Latitude E6410
Today I found the problem with kernel, and was able to reproduce the problem
with kernels starting from 3.9.
Steps to reproduce
Reboot PC with card
-- card detected, driver loaded. - OK
Remove card
-- card still detected, driver doesn't unloads - Fail

Reboot PC without card
Insert card
-- No card detected - Fail
issue 'echo 1 > /sys/bus/pci/rescan'
-- Card detected - Ok?
Remove card
-- Card still detected - Fail
issue 'echo 1 > /sys/bus/pci/rescan'
-- Card still detected - Fail?

Tried to play with kernel 3.8 - everything works ok (need to load module
acpiphp)

[Bug 1287247] [NEW] Trove classifiers

2014-03-03 Thread Cyril Roelandt
Public bug reported:

This package lacks trove classifiers. I would add them, but I'm not sure
whether it works with Python 3.

The trove classifiers really matter, since they're used by both humans
and scripts (https://github.com/brettcannon/caniusepython3) to know what
versions of Python are supported.
