[Bug 1421923] Re: No notifications for new mails
Hey Robin. Not quite :-( Looks like the work in accounts-polld has only landed in yakkety. Is that right @mardy? Also for this to work in Dekko all the accounts need to be in online accounts. Some of the work for that is done. Mainly in Dekko's messaging daemon. But it still requires the logic for the UI/Setup wizard and also work out how the user is going to be able to edit their account settings after the online account is created. which currently isn't possibly in online accounts. Also the polld plugin needs implementing so I need to find out if there is any docs for that. [Bug 1421923] Re: No notifications for new mails
Hi Alberto, Thanks for the update Alberto. How is it going to work with gmail notifications and figuring out which app should receive the notification? Is it a case of seeing if dekko has been granted access to the account and falling back to the gmail webapp if not? For the record i'll just post here my answer to your question on IRC earlier. Dekko's notification action url should be in the format: dekko://notify/{OnlineAccountId}/{mailboxName}/{MessageUID} MessageUID is optional. If the gmail rest api provides the servers immutable message UID then you can include it and Dekko will try to fetch and display it. Dekko uses the mailboxname to trigger a sync on that mailbox so just set that to INBOX -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1421923 Title: No notifications for new mails To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/account-plugins/+bug/1421923/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

@mardy, sorry i totally missed your comment. Sure, i'll bring this up on the ubuntu-phone list today. --- @Sam yeah i agree the W3C push API is the best chance their is at the moment. I'm just not sure how quick adoption would be for email. I think Fastmail is an exception to this as they do some pretty awesome and useful stuff. IIRC I think their push notifications is part of their jmap spec which the fastmail web ui is already using? I see they also support apples XAPPLEPUSH extension which is rare to see, so they could possibly be willing to adopt the same approach for Ubuntu if demand is there. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1421923 Title: No notifications for new mails To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/account-plugins/+bug/1421923/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1421923] Re: No notifications for new mails
Dekko will have POP3 support from the next update. So we will need to provide notification support for that as well. I'm still not convinced that a polld plugin is the correct approach for this, it doesn't feel like it's going to scale well. I plan to add exchange ews & jmap protocols to Dekko in the future so that would mean creating more polld plugins that duplicates code and becomes more to maintain. @Pat, @popey from the next update Dekko actually has a separate messaging server that can be run as a daemon, which Dekko communicates with over a local socket. Currently I'm just running it as another process on app launch. Is there some possibility that we could make this server blessed and run in the background somehow or at set intervals and allow it to do what we are trying to do with polld? It already has most of the logic for notifications as it notifies any connected clients about new mail so it would be trivial to extend that to passing messages to the push service. Or could we possibly turn it into a proper system service and restrict access via apparmor? In reality I just don't believe that the majority of email server's out there will implement ubuntu push notifications without it becoming an rfc standard. The majority don't even do it for android/iOS as the IDLE and NOTIFY extensions provide the same thing for IMAP and for services that don't support those extensions are even less likely to support our push notifications. Unfortunately polling has become so engrained in the email space that I don't think we can force that to change any time soon.
[Bug 1577035] Re: [M10 tablet] Dekko can not scroll up when replying in desktop mode
Ah ok... I was wondering if Dekko was doing something different to other apps hence this bug being filed against Dekko. I'm not really sure what I can do in Dekko to make this any better. If it's a case of resizing the window or something I think this should at least be done at the toolkit level as that's where it's handled for staged apps, or as Michael suggests possibly at the system level. Asking all app developers to handle this use case themselves isn't going to scale well and there will no doubt be inconsistencies with how each is handled (if handled at all). It will be better to come up with one solution that can be applied to all apps. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1577035 Title: [M10 tablet] Dekko can not scroll up when replying in desktop mode To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/dekko/+bug/1577035/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1524901] Re: When an application starts there is temporarily a white gap at the top
I've now started seeing similar in Dekko, which i've narrowed down to happening while pushing the first page onto the page stack on launch. [Bug 1421923] Re: No notifications for new mails
Hey Niklas. Awesome work on this so far, you have made great progress! I have a couple of questions/suggestions: firstly for the created url that is sent through url-dispatcher. It would be great if it could be and rfc 5092 [1] compliant IMAP url. Particularly because this is the standard for referencing objects on a remote IMAP server but it also includes some useful info like the UIDVALIDITY which ideally a client should be checking, to be sure that the UIDs have not changed between the poll session and the new session created from the dispatched url. Also in terms of how Dekko works it would be really helpful if the message partid was included as well, so that we would have a direct pointer to the exact message part you created the notification from. Which we can directly fetch and not have to parse the mime structure again to find the interesting part. Secondly, I read you blog post but it wasn't entirely clear to me how a user will select the client to consume the notifications. IIRC url- dispatcher was recently made clever and if more than one app is registered to consume the same protocol/scheme then the user is prompted to select which app to use. Would it make sense to just utilize that? This is the current state for the mailto: protocol so it would make sense to keep it consistent. What's your thoughts? Keep up the great work! [Bug 1479064] Re: Autopilot test "EnglishDefaultInstallTestCase" fails with Xubuntu i386 Wily daily ISO
This will most likely be an issue for all flavors this test is run on. It looks like the relation between GtkTreeView & AtkTreeView has changed in a recent Gtk upgrade. It's been over 18 months since the tests were written :-) IIRC the current logic will find the languages treeview on the left side by looking up visible AtkTreeView object in the accessibility tree once that was found we could compare the object's rect properties with that of the all the GtkTreeView's, which we could then select the one that matched. There was no easy way to do this going straight down the Gtk object tree. This may have changed now though so it would be worth firing up autopilot vis once the test has failed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1479064 Title: Autopilot test "EnglishDefaultInstallTestCase" fails with Xubuntu i386 Wily daily ISO To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1479064/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1260016] Re: Add an API to allow defining custom URL scheme delegates
@chris yes you understand correctly. Basically we use a custom QNetworkAccessManager to access message parts internally and externally to the app [1]. Which we use the UrlSchemeDelegates to bridge the gap between the webview and our custom QNAM. Now getting the message parts individually isn't really an issue as we can just ask the model for the data for each part and chuck it through loadHtml and be done with it. but when we come to multi-part messages where for instance, an html part might contain a cid url [2] referencing another message part. I can't see how we can load these referenced parts within the message without the aid of the webview supporting our internal schemes. IIUC and i'm not entirely familiar with the internals of oxide/chromium, but am i right in thinking that it actually doesn't interact with QNetworkAccessManager but has it's own internal http implementation and can't go through a QNetworkAccessManager? If that's correct then even our current method of returning a wrapped qnetworkreply or Mike's idea of overriding the QNAM is actually redundant in this use-case. I'm not sure what the best approach here is. And all ideas will be greatly appreciated :-) [1] http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~dpniel/dekko/trunk-1/view/head:/src/Imap/Network/MsgPartNetAccessManager.cpp [2] https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc2392 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1260016 Title: Add an API to allow defining custom URL scheme delegates To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/oxide/+bug/1260016/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1267116] Re: ubiquity crashed with SIGSEGV in GtkNode::MatchStringProperty()
I'm not entirely sure this is a bug in autopilot-gtk. See http://paste.ubuntu.com/6725605/. Where you can see that the segfault occurs before the autopilot test executes the progress bar tests. Which is where we get the MatchStringProperty fail when trying to match the webkitwindow's name. I cannot find anything sinister that would cause the atk_object_set_parent in Gtk/Atk and WebKitGtk, I even ran various tests against the GtkWidgets that use set_parent, which resulted in no problems. I also went through at-spi2-atk, thinking maybe if there was an invalid pointer a d-bus connection was being closed, but even that seemed to be ok. I'm wondering if this is something to do with bug 1260396, and also with this bug starting to appear after the update to Gtk 3.10. on 10th December. The point where the segfault is occurring is the point I highlight in bug 1260396 where the window flickers back from full screen width to the correct size. Could this be caused by slow rendering/transitioning of the window coming back to to its default size??? i.e a parent object not entirely in place before the atk object cache is being 're-synced'?? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1267116 Title: ubiquity crashed with SIGSEGV in GtkNode::MatchStringProperty() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/autopilot-gtk/+bug/1267116/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Initially I started with recreating a simplified version of the point- of-fail in the ubiquity tests, hence progressbar and 3 dialogs and worked from there Thanks -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1266689 Title: SIGSEGV in GtkNode::MatchStringProperty To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/autopilot-gtk/+bug/1266689/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1266689] [NEW] SIGSEGV in GtkNode::MatchStringProperty
Public bug reported: This is a continuation from bug 1261685 It would appear this bug is still occurring after the recent fix. After trying to simplify the cause of the problem it appears to be caused when running a loop of repeated calls on the same/group of objects. I tried to dig into a bit further but with little success, attached is a simplified script to reproduce locally ** Affects: autopilot-gtk (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Attachment added: "Simplified test script to reproduce" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1266689/+attachment/3942287/+files/test_force_segfault.py -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1266689 Title: SIGSEGV in GtkNode::MatchStringProperty To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/autopilot-gtk/+bug/1266689/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Unfortuantely this bug is still present it occurs when repeatedly selecting the same object or a group of objects. It seems it comes down to the speed it's checking if you put a 0.3 sec sleep between each selection it doesn't crash. I have attached a simplified test script which reproduces the bug locally. ** Attachment added: "test_force_segfault.py" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/autopilot-gtk/+bug/1261685/+attachment/3938155/+files/test_force_segfault.py -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1261685 Title: libautopilotgtk.so crashed with SIGSEGV in GtkNode::MatchStringProperty (this=0xa8b6c80, name=..., value=...) at /build/buildd/autopilot-gtk-1.4+14.04.20131128.1/lib/GtkNode.cpp:271 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/autopilot-gtk/+bug/1261685/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1262575] [NEW] Autopilot: Failed test results giving non-helpful/no-info messages for error dialogs
Public bug reported: As an example bug 1261745, on jenkins it displays the error as the page title hasn't changed, meaning we didn't get to the next step of the install but actually the problem was we were stuck at an error dialog displaying the installer couldn't create a JFS partition. This type of problem can also be seen on the lubuntu tests where the test result is reporting that the progress bar didn't reset but is in fact halted by an error dialog. So these results provide no useful information before further investigation as to what the actual cause for test failure was. The key problem is the tests check for error dialogs at anticipated points throughout the install usually between providing input and switching to the next step or while polling on the progress bar, which in reality the dialogs could pop up at any point of the install. It would be a better idea to only check for visible error dialogs at the end of the test whether its a fail or pass, and try and grab as much info from the dialog as possible and add it to the test result, this way we will always get the info of any error dialogs open at the end of a test, and not need to try and guess where to catch them during. ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: autopilot ** Description changed: As an example bug 1261745, on jenkins it displays the error as the page title hasn't changed, meaning we didn't get to the next step of the install but actually the problem was we were stuck at an error dialog displaying the installer couldn't create a JFS partition.
