[Bug 103176] Re: [feisty] Boot time slow, hangs on configuring network interfaces
I can confirm this bug--I see it too as of 4/4/07. I'm also using Feisty with the latest updates. ** Changed in: module-init-tools (Ubuntu) Status: Unconfirmed = Confirmed -- [feisty] Boot time slow, hangs on configuring network interfaces https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/103176 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 87973] Broken legacy S3 xorg driver in feisty (Fix included)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-s3 Over a year ago, this bug was reported, and someone posted a patch about 4 months ago. However, this bug has been erased from Malone's database, and the fix was NOT included in the current Feisty package. So that's why I'm re-submitting this bug report with a fix. I fixed it on my own computer by grabbing Debian's source packages from http://packages.debian.org/testing/source/xserver-xorg-video-s3 Then, I modified the control file so it would not arbitrarily depend on Debian's version numbering scheme, and I built a working package using their source tree and my modified control file. I hope by building a working package for Edgy and Feisty and providing my modified control file, that this can be included in Feisty and future Ubuntu releases, as I like being able to use my Pentium II system to its full potential with the latest software. I am using the package I just built and verified that it is indeed a working bugfix. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-s3 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Broken legacy S3 xorg driver in feisty (Fix included) https://launchpad.net/bugs/87973 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Here's the deb I built; works on Edgy and should work on Feisty. ** Attachment added: Working deb built from Debian's testing source package http://librarian.launchpad.net/6530544/xserver-xorg-video-s3_0.4.1-5_i386.deb -- Broken legacy S3 xorg driver in feisty (Fix included) https://launchpad.net/bugs/87973 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 87973] Re: Broken legacy S3 xorg driver in feisty (Fix included)
Here's my modified control file. I removed the version dependency from one of the X packages so it would build and install on Ubuntu Edgy and Feisty. ** Attachment added: The control file--needed to allow the package to work on Ubuntu Edgy and Feisty http://librarian.launchpad.net/6530554/control -- Broken legacy S3 xorg driver in feisty (Fix included) https://launchpad.net/bugs/87973 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 36256] Re: gtk2-engines-gtk-qt causes GNOME-panel to crash upon startup and causes Gnome to look ugly

[Bug 86934] kompile depends on non-existant kdesu package
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kompile Opting to install kompile in apt results in messages saying that kdesu isn't installed (and can't be found), when the kdesu command works. Installing the equivs package allows me to circumvent this by installing a dummy kdesu package, but I would like to see a better solution (like rebuilding it without that dependency). ** Affects: kompile (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- kompile depends on non-existant kdesu package https://launchpad.net/bugs/86934 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 36256] Re: gtk2-engines-gtk-qt causes GNOME-panel to crash upon startup and causes Gnome to look ugly
Fedora has the perfect solution to this problem: Their version uses a file called .gtkrc-2.0.kde or something, so it would ONLY be used under KDE. Could we modify it to use their patch? http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/extras/6/i386/gtk-qt- engine-0.70-4.20061211svn.fc6.i386.rpm Or is this in the upstream SVN? -- gtk2-engines-gtk-qt causes GNOME-panel to crash upon startup and causes Gnome to look ugly https://launchpad.net/bugs/36256 -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

Oh, and one more comment-- On my computer, running the command sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg autodetects the VESA driver. [Bug 1] Re: Microsoft has a majority market share
I'm in the computer hardware program, and in one of my classes, the teacher was bragging about how generous Microsoft is by letting college students get their stuff cheap. I raised my hand and said Who needs this Micro$oft stuff cheap when you can get similar stuff for free? They just want to lead you in so they'll have you hooked for life! I'm very public in my opinions, and I even refuse to use the college's computers most of the time (I can get on the wireless network using my Ubuntu- based laptop anyway). I am so sick of them saying they have the latest in Micro$oft software (and bragging about it ugh!) -- Microsoft has a majority market share https://launchpad.net/bugs/1 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1] Re: Microsoft has a majority market share
This college says Nobody uses that Linux stuff! I remember trying to submit directions for using Linux to get on the wireless network (they had Windows and Macintosh directions for it), but they said No! Nobody uses it! I know they're partially sponsored by Microsoft (they have Microsoft banners all over the place)... The bug is really prevalent at WCTC (Waukesha County Tech College in Wisconsin)! -- Microsoft has a majority market share https://launchpad.net/bugs/1 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
