[Bug 1326161] [NEW] Toshiba Satellite Brightness Hotkey Doesn't Work

2014-06-03 Thread Daniel Centore
Public bug reported:

I followed the steps at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Hotkeys/Troubleshooting
and found that the brightness keys are only detected with acpi_listen,
which apparently means "this is a bug in the kernel (ubuntu-bug linux)
for not translating the ACPI event to an input event"

Brightness down and up create the following output with acpi_listen,
respectively:

button/battery BAT 0080 K
button/sleep SBTN 0080 K

[Bug 1311951] [NEW] Save dialog New Folder Closes with Shift

2014-04-23 Thread Daniel Centore
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce
1. Open an application you can save from (ex gedit, libreoffice writer)
2. Press Ctrl+S to save a document
3. Navigate to a directory (ex desktop)
4. Click "Create Folder"
5. Press shift and push any letter
6. Instead of typing a capital letter, it just cancels the New Folder operation

[Bug 860600] Re: Media keys aren't working (Ubuntu 11.10, Pithos latest daily)

2011-11-17 Thread Daniel Centore
Workaround: Run totem and minimize it. You're media keys will then work.
However, hopefully this will be fixed soon. I consider the priority much higher
than low. The media keys are the main reason behind performance to use this
client as opposed to the official one.

[Bug 767927] Re: Logout Freeze [kernel tried to execute NX-protected page - exploit attempt? (uid: 0)]

2011-05-12 Thread Daniel Centore
mia

I do not have v86d installed. Also, I disabled plymouth (as described
above) and updated many packages. Around the same time, the freezes
stopped for me. I do not want to re-enable plymouth because I need a
production machine for the time being. Some of the others who still have
this problem might like to try this though.

That's simply not possible because the computer locks up and you are
forced to kill the computer. However, after installing updates from
update manager manually (which should be automatic...) on Thursday, I
have not experienced the issue. I'll keep you updated on whether or not
it happens again. (And there was an NVidia update so I hope it fixed it)

[Bug 768966] [NEW] Java/LibreOffice Fullscreen Exclusive Doesn't work in Unity

2011-04-22 Thread Daniel Centore
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libreoffice

When trying to go fullscreen in LO Writer (ctrl+shift+j) the window goes
fullscreen beneath the left and top unity bars. Furthermore, a java
program written using java exlusive fullscreen mode has a similar
problem - it shows up with a maximized size but not actually maximized
(the title bar doesn't combine with the unity panel). This was not a bug
in Maverick.

I am using the x64 non-free nvidia driver as well, but in accordance with the
bug here (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1593705) i am forced to use

It is amazing how the only unstable parts of linux systems are the proprietary

[Bug 613826] Re: cursor disappear after screen saver locks screen

2011-02-25 Thread Daniel Centore
I would like to point out that I have a very similar problem, but i
cannot seem to duplicate it effectively. Every once in a while, this
exact same problem occurs where i can no longer type but the mouse
works. I added the workspace switcher to my gnome-panel, and now when
this occurs i switch workspaces and then it USUALLY fixes itself within
10 or 15 seconds, but before it would never fix itself. Could this be
the same problem or related? Usually occurs when running eclipse, but
not primarily.

I am using the Toshiba Qosmio x505 running mint 10

[Bug 534043] Re: Bookmark fails to rename in the left pane

2010-11-11 Thread Daniel Centore
for those of you still using the old nautilus (like myself), the
bookmarks>edit bookmarks option works correctly for both places and the
sidebar (though i have not yet tried rebooting)
