[Bug 1726097] [NEW] User session crash directly after login and user is back at login screen.

2017-10-22 Thread Daniel Holm
Public bug reported:

After upgrade from Ubuntu 17.04 I was no longer able to login. First I
thought it was because of the new display server but the same thing
happened when using X.

I did a reset of dconf and was then able to login to the GNOME session,
but trying to login to the Ubuntu session the screen blackout out
shortly after entering the password and I was back at the login screen.

I found that if I enabled the Ubuntu dock in the GNOME session same
thing happened - but while logged in. Gnome Shell crashed and I was back
at the login screen. Now I was no longer able to login to the Gnome
session either and had to do another reset of dconf.

I then uninstalled the gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock package and
tried to login to the Ubuntu session and it worked. I of course had to
try to trying to keep singeling it out, and when I now installed that
package again I am unable to use the Ubuntu session, but Gnome session
(without the Ubuntu dock enabled) works.

[Bug 1574125] [NEW] suspend not working after uprade

2016-04-23 Thread Daniel Holm
Public bug reported:

Hi,

Upgraded from Ubuntu 15.10 where suspend workes flawlessly. After
upgrade, putting machine in suspend turns the monitor black and
everything seem to be off, though the fan still spins, the power light
is on and the battery is trained. Nothing seem to wake it up (Meaning
different key combinations - trying to get a shell by Ctrl+Alt+F1, for
example; pressing power, any other key).

Unsure how to try to get it working since I have to kill the power by
pressing down the power button, then restarting it (it then does a drive
scan for errors).

I'll give a llive CD a go in a few days and see. But I have to say that
the battery life actually do seem rather persistant if I turn of turbo
boost, enable all powertop tunes and run in powersave. Tough the battery
still always say around three hours.

The battery does seem to still have more battery life than stated by the
indicator and acpi command. Used for aroung five hours now and 23% left.
Turbo turned off and powersave governor. Maybe the bug is in the
reading?

But why is the turbo mode enabled and the cpu running on full speed as
default?

Also I'm no longer able to play HD video. Connected?

[Bug 1513886] [NEW] Decreased battery life after upgrade.

2015-11-06 Thread Daniel Holm
Public bug reported:

Hi,

In Ubuntu 15.04 I had around 7-8 hours of battery life but after upgrade
I got half. Why? Maybe not the right package, but I don't know what else
than the kernel. If wrong please change.

I use lmt for increased battery life, and it is still installed (even
reinstalled and I also tried ltp instead, but no change).

Disabling intel p state turbo does no change. I dont really have any
processes ruining it and it even says 4 hours after first boot.

The battery ost 5% just while I submitted this bug report.

[Bug 1409099] [NEW] after suspend xorg uses very much CPU.

2015-01-09 Thread Daniel Holm
Public bug reported:

After I've had my laptop suspended it got really slow - and it's brand
new and not as slow after fresh boot.

I saw that the xorg process used almost 100% of the CPU. After I've

and not the xorg packade.

[Bug 1342981] Re: Korean layout for Ubuntu Touch

It is actually quite easy to add support. You could look at this MR which was
for adding a Serbian keyboard and do something similar for Korean:

[Bug 1393456] [NEW] empathy notifications shows up in a seperate window.

2014-11-17 Thread Daniel Holm
Public bug reported:

Fresh install of Ubuntu 14.10. It worked at first, but suddenly the chat
notifications from Empathy are shown in a seperate windows named
telepathy-indicator-service. The usual notifications are still shown,
though.

The new window contains three buttins: Ok, View and Close. None that
work.

Also I can't write to any users in Empathy any longer.

[Bug 1356891] Re: incorrect swedish layout

2014-09-02 Thread Daniel Holm
Ok, so I've been trying to fix this myself, and I do have some issue.
1. The trunk of https://launchpad.net/ubuntu-keyboard does contain the CORRECT
layout.
2. The device has another layout, which is the INCORRECT layout.

Why is there a difference/why is it not the files from the actual
project that is on the phone?

Just gave 13.10 a run. Wifi interface is found and working - although
slower and I still have to be around 2 meters from the router. Further
away and ping reaches 1000ms and bandwidth is extremely lowered.

apport information

** Attachment added: "WifiSyslog.txt"

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1305305/+attachment/4110143/+files/WifiSyslog.txt

** Description changed:

Using a Sony Vaio Pro 13 with Ubuntu 14.04 the wifi keeps dropping. Sometimes
all the time, at times after a bit longer (~10 min). A few packages ago it
didn't drop, but was really, really, slow. Now it completely drops. Adding the
following to modprobe.conf made no change:
  options iwlwifi 11ac_disable=1
  options iwlwifi 11n_disable=1

After each new row I ran:
  sudo modprobe -rfv iwlwifi
  sudo modprobe -v iwlwifi

Tried turning off the power management of wlan0 without any change.

** Description changed:

Using a Sony Vaio Pro 13 with Ubuntu 14.04 the wifi keeps dropping. Sometimes
all the time, at times after a bit longer (~10 min). A few packages ago it
didn't drop, but was really, really, slow. Now it completely drops. Adding the
following to modprobe.conf made no change:
  options iwlwifi 11ac_disable=1
  options iwlwifi 11n_disable=1

After each new row I ran:
  sudo modprobe -rfv iwlwifi
  sudo modprobe -v iwlwifi

Tried turning off the power management of wlan0 without any change.

2014-05-11 Thread Daniel Holm
7 minutes after reboot, efter I've installed the backports, I get the first
disconnect and I have to deactivate Wifi and enable it again using the
nm-applet. modinfo iwlwifi still doesn't even show 7260 ucode *8* file. Only
*7*.
uname -r: 3.13.0-24

(I somehow have to load iwlwifi using modprobe now after each reboot as
well. I must have blacklisted it somehow when trying out ndiswrapper,
altough it is not in either /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist or
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf)

[Bug 1305305] Re: 8086:08b1 [Sony VAIO SVP1321M2E] Wifi keeps dropping.

2014-05-08 Thread Daniel Holm
Tried enabling proposed repo and installed linux image and headers
(3.13.0-24) and linux-firmware linux-firmware (1.127.2), the latter had
a related changelog with the latest ucode module removed due regression.
However no change. After login I get a really nice ping answers the
first 4-6 times and then timeout.

I don't understand how I install backports from that guide
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/LinuxWireless#Compat-
wireless_from_upstream) since no source packages seem to be available
for 3.13-15, nor are there any backports packages avaiable using APT.

Might give ndiswrapper a try..

AP:
D-Link DIR-615
Hardware Version: B2
Firmware Version: 2.21
Connection type: 802.11n/g
WPA/WPA2 - Personal

Same thing with other AP:s

None of my other devices have this issue with any of the other AP:s

Distance between computer and AP does make a difference with pretty much
full speed at a close distance. Still occasional drops, though.

3.15rc4 has no change. Will try compat/backports now again.

putput from dmesg when (a) my mouse is disconnected and (b) when my
bluetooth modem is disconnected.

** Summary changed:

- mouse disconnects
+ Bluetooth disconnects devices regularly

** Description changed:

My mouse suddenly disconnects randomly, while I am using it. Works fine
for a while, suddenly it seems to disconnects because I can't use it,
and then I press all the buttons, restart the mouse, or forces the
Bluetooth to connect using the Bluetooth indicator again, and suddenly
  it works again.
+
+ Same thing goes for other Bluetooth devices. Using my Nexus 4 as a
+ Bluetooth modem it's the same.

2014-05-02 Thread Daniel Holm
Running 3.15rc3 withhout any change. I've noticed that when I'm really
close to the router, up to 2 m, It works great: full speed and no
disconnects. But from my working place, where all my other devices work
and my old laptop; internet is unusable. Still I got two bars in the
indicator.

[Bug 1305305] Re: 8086:08b1 [Sony VAIO SVP1321M2E] Wifi keeps dropping.

2014-04-29 Thread Daniel Holm
there are new drives for the card (22.212.9.0) and the filename is
iwlwifi-7250-9.ucode, but "modinfo iwlwifi | grep 7260" still shows
iwlwifi-7260-7.ucode. [1}

Also I've found a lot of other people with the same exact issue (at
least the sound of it) and I therefore changed the title of this bug
report.

[Bug 1305305] Re: Wifi keeps dropping.

2014-04-10 Thread Daniel Holm
This bug is probably related to the iwlwifi kernel module, as statet
above. The module should have added support for the Intel 7260 chipset
since Linux 3.12. Ubuntu 14.04 uses 3.13. Has there been a regression,
perhaps?

Could it be something about the new 802.11ac tech? Issues with earlier
card proposes to disable N. Perhaps I should try to disable AC and just
use N. (http://forum.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=118812)

[Bug 1305306] [NEW] webcam is distorted

2014-04-09 Thread Daniel Holm
Public bug reported:

Hi,

My new Vaio Pro 13 has a webcam from Chicony which doesn't work
properly. Using Cheese I can se myself for like a second, then the
stream ends. In Google Hangouts my image contains static and is
distorted (see attachement).

Using streamer to take a snapshot the image looks fine in 640x480, but
if I want it to take a HD image in 1280x720 I get an error and the
output file looks as when in an hangout.

[Bug 1305305] [NEW] Wifi keeps dropping.

2014-04-09 Thread Daniel Holm
Public bug reported:

Hi,

Just got myself a Sony Vaio Pro 13 and installed Ubuntu 14.04. All
packages is the latest.

The wifi keeps dropping. Sometimes all the time, at times after a bit longer
(~10 min).
Netwiork Managers Connection information doesn't tell me what module is in use,
but lsmod contains iwlwifi, which should be the module that the hardware uses
since Linux 3.13.

A few packages ago it didn't drop, but was really, really, slow. Now it
completely drops.

[Bug 1169258] Re: There is no ListItem implementing the expansion behaviour

2013-09-03 Thread Daniel Holm
I dont think this is fixed yet. Where is the expanded ListItem? It's not in the
ui-toolkit-gallery.
And OptionSelector isn't it. I got 0.1.46+13.10.20130903.4 installed.

[Bug 1175656] [NEW] nm-applet freezes

2013-05-02 Thread Daniel Holm
Public bug reported:

nm-applet sometimes freezes for an unknown reason. I've not yet figured
out a systematic way to recreate it - it's seems to be rather random.

When it freezes I'm unable to ckick on any of the entries in its drop
down menu. Let's say I want to change wifi network: I click on the
indicator, find my other wifi abd click it - nothing.

Kill nm-applet and then start it again, try to change wifi as above -
works.
