[Bug 952108] Re: [Precise] Nautilus: memory leak

2013-11-26 Thread Daniel Nyström
I just reinstalled Ubuntu and this time the 32bit version. I will keep
an eye on memory usage, and if it's still eating GB's of RAM I'll come
back to this thread and request help debugging it.

[Bug 1080386] Re: Compiz crash on startup

2013-01-10 Thread Daniel Nyström
Sorry for this meta question, but since this bug took only one day to
get fixed but over a month to reach the first official stage - what
could we, the users, have done to quicken this process?

I havn't been able to run my MacBook Air 2012 with Ubuntu for over a
month, and I guess I'm not the only one. Very frustrating. But I'm also
eager to help, since open projects as Ubuntu rely on user contribution
and collaboration.

What could have helped?

"For users with computers affected by this bug, testing the fix is
really simple: after installing the package with the proposed fix, just
try to log in and check if you get to the ubuntu desktop successfully."

Yes, trying to login I could really have guessed. But how to get the
"package with the proposed fix"? Any PPA?

This also affects me with my Logitech MX310 USB. Suddently the mouse
wheel does not work. It scrolls one single time spontaneously but mostly
it doesn't at all.

[Bug 968845] Re: bcm5974 touchpad doesn't work after S3 on MacBookAir

2012-05-31 Thread Daniel Nyström
Today scrolling works better (I havn't touched apt/dpkg since
yesterday). But sometimes it triggers a press on the Alt button and
shows the HUD. Quickly scrolling up and down continuously confirms the
bug. It shows and hide the HUD and sometimes enter the menus. You can
see the underlines indicating the menu item shortcut flicker while
scrolling.

Note that this doesn't happen all the time. It's as intermittent as the
bug described in #65.

[Bug 968845] Re: bcm5974 touchpad doesn't work after S3 on MacBookAir

2012-05-30 Thread Daniel Nyström
Yesterday I finally had time to test what's currently in precise-
proposed, but now the two-finger-scroll is almost unusable. The same
gesture both scroll up and down in Google Chrome. Sometimes it's
extremely sensitive too, which makes it hard just figuring whether it's
scrolling up or down.

I remember installing stuff during the Precise Beta period to enable
touch gestures - are there any packages to look out for which might be
causing this irregular behaviour?

[Bug 988196] [NEW] Touchpad sensitivity setting does not affect second finger (MacBook Air 2012)

2012-04-25 Thread Daniel Nyström
Public bug reported:

Setting "Synaptic Finger" sensitivity using "xinput set-prop" [1] works
very well for single touch, but the second finger is still very
sensitive and will cause Ubuntu to start scrolling even when second
finger is hovering a few millimeters. No matter which level is set, the
second finger is not affected at all.

[Bug 976198] [NEW] touchpad does not work after suspend

2012-04-07 Thread Daniel Nyström
Public bug reported:

When returning after suspend (closing the lid and returning a few hours
later on my MacBook Air) the touchpad does not work. It seems like the
touchpad driver thinks there's one finger constantly on the touchpad
since sliding with a finger on it makes it want to scroll (I've enabled
two finger scroll in settings).

[Bug 813566] Re: Greeter not displayed correctly on multi monitor setup

2012-01-12 Thread Daniel Nyström
Since this is a production workstation, I can not run Alpha nor Beta
releases. But is there any way to "backport" the Precise lightdm version
to Oneiric, I'd be happy to try it out.

I wrote a report just a few comments above my screenshot. What else can
I do to help?

Another thing I've noticed both at work with the Xinerama setup and at
home with a simple Nvidia TwinView setup (with two monitors with
different resolutions) is that the background image is tiled in the
middle of my extra screens while in the login session. In user session
it's all perfectly aligned.

[Bug 813566] Re: Greeter not displayed correctly on multi monitor setup

2011-11-14 Thread Daniel Nyström
I finally got a screenshot!

On the third screen you can see almost my complete first screen desktop.
And on the fourth screen you can see an "ajax-loader.gif" with all it's
animation frames. Is this coming from arbitrary graphics memory? It
sounds more and more like a big security issue.

Thoughts?

Given that pretty cool interface and features of Activity Log Monitor,
it would be pretty awesome if it could be integrated into Ubuntu in a
pleasant way. :)

[Bug 813566] Re: Greeter not displayed correctly on multi monitor setup

2011-10-17 Thread Daniel Nyström
I'm running a four monitor setup with 2xNvidia GPUs using Xinerama
(hence not RandR).

When logging out, I'm getting a scrambled (but readable!) mirror of my
_last session_ which could reveal security and/or personal information
e.g. if browsing your bank prior to logging out. I think this should be
considered an security issue!

Too bad I wasn't able to reproduce it right now, but I will try to get
it on photo asap.

Using lightdm 1.0.1-0ubuntu6.

[Bug 655616] Re: Press S or M does not work for more than one partition on error

2011-06-07 Thread Daniel Nyström
I'm running Natty and has the latest updates as of 1 June 2011. I'm
experiencing as described in the bug report; having four NFS entries
failing at boot, there is no reaction when pressing either S nor M when
asked for.

Taking me away from this required the Alternate CD on an USB-disk and
booting for rescue.

I'm getting this too, but I'm also getting random MCE reboots. Running
on Xeon W3680 w/ 24GB Kingston ECC RAM (QVL). I've been running memtest
as well for a long time, but no indication on memory errors.

[Bug 575606] [NEW] USB headset sound volume very low

2010-05-05 Thread Daniel Nyström
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-media

My GN Netcom USB headset now has an extremly low volume after upgrading
to Lucid Lynx.

I've tried all available settings both on the standard Sound settings
panel and through PulseAudio Volume Control, but setting everything to
maximum values still renders in very low volumn in the headset.

There has never been any problem like this through any of the former
Ubuntu versions that have been run on this same machine.
