[Bug 38131]

2021-09-08 Thread Daniele Dellafiore
I can be more specific. On web.whatsapp.com happens only when I use either
1. search
2. attach file

on first start is ok, so is if i reload the page, until I use one of
those two functions.

[Bug 1906679] [NEW] bios grub-install crash with "no space left" but there's plenty of it

2020-12-03 Thread Daniele Dellafiore
Public bug reported:

I can do a succesfull install on this very same system and drive with Ubuntu
20.04.
Since Ubuntu 20.10, and now with daily live 21.04, I get this error.

I *think* I do have a BIOS setup, not a UEFI, on a drive with existing Windows
10 and a Ubuntu 20.04.
When the BIOS starts and I select where to boot from, I get 2 options from the
USB KEY: one is UEFI, the other is unspecified, which must be BIOS. I alwayse
chose "BIOS".

Nothing much else to report for now.

[Bug 1845797] Re: Microphone not detected Lenovo Yoga S940

2020-05-26 Thread Daniele Dellafiore
I reverted to 5.4.0-29-generic from 5.4.0-31-generic and now sound and
mic work ok.

Something in 5.4.0-31 which is the latest upgrade for Ubuntu 20.04,
breaks stuff.

I can confirm that with all kernel versions shipped with Ubuntu 20.04 up
to 5.4.0-29 but excluding 5.4.0-31, sound and mic work without problems
on Lenovo S940

Something got wrong with audio on my laptop, where for the first 6 weeks

[Bug 1845797] Re: Microphone not detected Lenovo Yoga S940

2020-05-26 Thread Daniele Dellafiore
I've recently upgraded to latest Lenovo Yoga S940, with Intel Core 7 10th gen.
With Focal Fossa, both audio and mic worked properly until a few days ago.

Now *sometimes* it loads with dummy audio and no mic at all.
Now it loaded with only audio and no mic.

It really seem random to me now.

There is this question that despite a different laptop, has a very similar
config:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1238563/no-sound-pulseaudio-ubuntu-20-04-but-sound-with-pulseaudio-uninstalled

[Bug 1852383] [NEW] system hangs on shutdown

2019-11-12 Thread Daniele Dellafiore
Public bug reported:

On a Lenovo Yoga S940, the system always hangs on shutdown.
The screen turns black and nothing happens anymore.
I have to keep pressed for several seconds the shutdown hardware button in

I attach the journalctl output from the shutdown which present very
similar 'errors' from session to session.

[Bug 1846201] Re: Rendering is delayed on laptop display (works in external display)

2019-10-02 Thread Daniele Dellafiore
Ubuntu on Wayland has same behavior, but worst.

Video attached shows open a new tab with CTRL+T and the new tab not being
rendered until I create a new.
Then I remove both, I create a new one, not rendered, and got rendered only
when the mouse is moved.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/6Nc6oABXs1xX1ks26

This worked fine in 19.04 and works fine now with external display.

I'll send another video showing how windows animation for align right/left do
not work, windows just step from one state to the next with no animation.
Minimize/maximize are perfect.

[Bug 1846201] Re: Rendering is delayed on laptop display (works in external display)

2019-10-01 Thread Daniele Dellafiore
I've made a picture as screenrecord/screenshot can't cath the problem.
As you can see the render is still on "General" despite "Extensions" being the
current selection.
You can see at the top part of the rendering is restarted and is now stuck in
the middle.

[Bug 1846201] Re: Rendering is delayed on laptop display (works in external display)

2019-10-01 Thread Daniele Dellafiore
Update.
Today I experienced this: after suspending the laptop, now I do not experience
broken rendering anymore.
This happened once before. Everytime I reboot, it comes back.

I'll try to identify a pattern here.

Also this is in the "Tweaks" application, gnome-shell does not have a
theme associated (see screenshot)

[Bug 1846200] [NEW] Rendering is delayed on laptop display (works in external display)

2019-10-01 Thread Daniele Dellafiore
Public bug reported:

This is a very wierd behavior I get on the Lenovo Yoga S940 after
upgrading to 19.10.

Basically the rendering on the laptop display is... messy, I'll try to
describe how as

* screenshots always take it ok
* also screenrecorder always seem ok, despite rendering being broken.

What heppen is:

When I alt-tab or switch tabs or align window right, the rendering does not
happen completely, so the screen displays part of the old status and part of
the new.
If I then alt-tab again for example, or move the mouse cursor over the portions
that has not rendered properly, the renders happens.

This happens only on the laptop display, not on the external display.

This makes the laptop almost unusable with its own display.

I will need to go back to 19.04, if there's something I can do to help
debug this I'd rather do.

[Bug 1845795] Re: authentication window got stuck over other windows

2019-09-30 Thread Daniele Dellafiore
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

The "Authentication required" screen appeared while I was changing
software repository settings, but it is stuck there:

  1. I can click "cancel" but there is no effect
  2. The window is now always on top of any other window, despite the original
Software Repository Settings windows has been closed (actually, terminated
manually)

As you can see in the screenshot, The Firefox windows has focus now as I
am typing in the address bar, but still the "dead" authentication window
  is on top.

  3. System get stuck at the windows with this messages:

  i2c_designware.o: controller timed out

[Bug 1845825] [NEW] i2c_designware and i2c_hid failures on shutdown

2019-09-29 Thread Daniele Dellafiore
Public bug reported:

1. Using Ubuntu 19.10
2. Shutdown system
3. System get stuck at the windows with this messages:

i2c_designware.o: controller timed out
i2c_hid: failed to change power settings.

It might not be related to the shutdown not happening, still that's the
only clue I have.

I attach the screenshot and dmesg output after the following boot.

[Bug 1845795] [NEW] authentication window got stuck over other windows

2019-09-28 Thread Daniele Dellafiore
Public bug reported:

The "Authentication required" screen appeared while I was changing
software repository settings, but it is stuck there:

1. I can click "cancel" but there is no effect
2. The window is now always on top of any other window, despite the original
Software Repository Settings windows has been closed (actually, terminated
manually)

As you can see in the screenshot, The Firefox windows has focus now as I
am typing in the address bar, but still the "dead" authentication window
is on top.

Using Ubuntu 19.10 on a Yoga Lenovo S940, upgraded from 19.04

[Bug 1758797] Re: [Ubuntu 18.04] USB Type-C test failed on GLK

2018-04-22 Thread Daniele Dellafiore
Everything is still the same BUT now the folder /sys/class/typec exists
while in comment #11 did not even existed, and that was already with the
.17.18 kernel. Now with .18.19 at least the folder exists. Is also empty
but I can't try connect the monitor now, will do tomorrow morning.

If there's something more I can do to provide info, just let me know.
Thanks.

[Bug 1758797] Re: [Ubuntu 18.04] USB Type-C test failed on GLK

2018-04-20 Thread Daniele Dellafiore
Hi. I am having trouble as my USB-C do not send video to DP1.2.
Also, where 17.10 did see the external monitor, 18.04 do not.
See
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1022343/usb-c-video-xiaomi-laptop-to-dell-display-no-signal
 for 17.10 behavior and
https://www.reddit.com/r/linux/comments/8cykbd/usbc_to_displayport_video/ for
18.10.

Can this regression/issue be related to this bug?

happens to me as well, on XPS 13 - 2013. Ubuntu always loaded before the

happen in 2013 (you can check in the original bug report).
I did play with it in the past, when ccsm and compiz were new, but was like
2009 or 2010 and on different instllation and machine.

I actually installed ccsm when you asked for the screenshot.

Anyway maybe it is because I just upgrade from release to release since
13.04?

BTW, the fix worked, without even restarting anything. Great thanks! :)

2014-01-10 Thread Daniele Dellafiore
Is this supposed to be fixed? I have XPS13 (Feb 2013 edition, i7) with latest
saucy 3.11.0-15 and problem is still there.
Last kernel that works properly is

Linux slap 3.8.0-29-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Tue Aug 13 19:40:39 UTC 2013

which I am running right now, while the system is upgraded to Saucy and
the kernel is one used in the 13.04 series.

To be precise: the brigthness buttons make the brightness bar appear on
screen and go up and down correclty, but actual brightness is always at
the lowest possible level, never changes.

[Bug 843431] Re: Logitech camera microphone does not work / makes "chipmunk" sound

2012-04-15 Thread Daniele Dellafiore
I had the same issue with C910 camera + mic.

I make it work using comment #123 solution, just the alsa-base.conf
modification, did not install any backported module.
on 3.2.0-23-generic #36-Ubuntu SMP x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Ubuntu 12.04

I might add that in Ubuntu Sound preferences I've two input device,
referring to that only device. If I keep the first selected, as in
attached screenshot, it works. If I switch to the second one, it got
back to the usual issue.

[Bug 886127] Re: menus are missing icons both in desktop and applications

2011-12-07 Thread Daniele Dellafiore
I do not understand what you mean saying "it's not a bug".

I do install Ubuntu. There are no icons in menus --> bug.
The fact I did knew a workaround that worked in previous releases and does not
work anymore does not change the fact I have an issue with the system.

It's not my problem not knowing how to make menu items icons visible, is
definitely an Ubuntu issue.
