[Bug 1970050] Re: [H97M-HD3, Intel Haswell HDMI, Digital Out, HDMI] No sound at all because of upgrade from 20.04 LTS to 22.04

2024-05-25 Thread DarKnyht
Still an issue in 24.04 and the suggested command

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash intel_iommu=on,igfx_off"

Did not resolve the issue. System is an HP EliteDesk 800 G3 with a
NVIDIA 1030 GT card installed. Video over GPU works but no audio and
not listed as an option.

[Bug 346289] Re: Choppy Flash playback in full screen.

2009-04-26 Thread DarKnyht
Similar but not a dupe. The original issue is that Flash is not working
with the NVIDIA chipset. Everytime someone reports this issue, it is
high-jacked by Intel Mobility Chipset people. This is not an issue with
Intel Chipsets, it is an issue with the NVIDIA chipsets.

Granted, it may be related to the changes made on the Intel Chipset.
However, I do not see how it is a duplicate of an issue with an entirely
different chipset manufacturer.

[Bug 346289] Re: Choppy Flash playback in full screen.

2009-04-11 Thread DarKnyht
Definately not a flash issue. I just ran Hulu.com at fullscreen from
within Epiphany and had no playback problems. Everything ran as it
should.

So my guess is that this is an issue with Firefox.

[Bug 326609] Re: [MASTER] No flash in firefox after upgrade from intrepid to jaunty

2009-04-11 Thread DarKnyht
The problem does not seem to be the flash plugins. I switched to
Epiphany and the flash is working exactly as it should.

The few things I noticed in Firefox was that there are two flash
plugings flash 10 r12 and 10 r22. If you disable 10 r12 Flash ceases to
work, which I means it is using an outdated version of Flash for some
reason. I could not find where this version of flash comes from to
remove it to test this theory.

So if you want working fullscreen Flash for now, I suggest Epiphany.

[Bug 346289] Re: Choppy Flash playback in full screen.

2009-04-11 Thread DarKnyht
This is everything I did this morning.

First I removed all synaptics installed Flash packages (flashplugin-
nonfree, flash installer, flash sound extras) and the ubuntu restricted
extras.

Second, downloaded a fresh copy of Flash from adobe (.deb package)

Third, followed the instructions here
http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/firefox to install the Firefox 3.1 beta
3. I did have to manually install it using sudo nautilus (sorry I am
not terminal savy) and then running the commands listed

sudo mv /opt/firefox/plugins /opt/firefox/plugins.backup
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/xulrunner-addons/plugins /opt/firefox/plugins
sudo dpkg-divert --divert /usr/bin/firefox.ubuntu --rename /usr/bin/firefox
sudo ln -s /opt/firefox/firefox /usr/bin/firefox

Last, removed firefox 3.1 and directed links back to Ubuntu version:

sudo rm /usr/bin/firefox
sudo dpkg-divert --rename --remove /usr/bin/firefox
sudo rm -r /opt/firefox

The only difference I am noticing from a user endpoint is that Flash
10.0 r12 is no longer listed as a plugin after doing all this.
Hopefully someone can streamline this process and make it easier to
remove Flash 10.0 r12 because I think that is the source of the problem.
(Flash won't play if 10.0 r12 is disabled when both are installed
implying it is the version being used).

[Bug 346289] Re: Choppy Flash playback in full screen.

2009-04-09 Thread DarKnyht
I will try what was suggest above, but I have been having this issue
since 9.04 Alpha 5 (that is when I switched). I guess I need to just
bite the bullet and turn Metacity Compositing off that is the source of
the issue.

I think the bigger issue is that it doesn't matter if we can tweak under
the hood to fix it, but that someone new to Ubuntu would look at this
and say, Flash doesn't work on Linux. This is something that needs to
be fixed before 9.04 goes out the door. As others have said, this
version of flash worked in 8.10 and it should work properly in 9.04.

[Bug 346289] Re: Choppy Flash playback in full screen.

2009-04-02 Thread DarKnyht
I am experiencing Flash problems using AMD 64 and nVidia graphic chip.
Only the playback issues also exist with non-full screen apps. Like
others have said, recent updates seem to have improved the situation but
some sites (picknik.com, hulu.com) still act strange.

I am not running Compiz, but I am using the compositing feature of
Metacity. Mostly because I don't want all the extras of Compiz but i
want to run Avant Window Navigator and I like shadowed windows.

[Bug 345108] Re: Flash not working on most websites with 9.04

2009-03-25 Thread DarKnyht
Also experiencing this issue in the Alphas. Flash will work okay for
the first website visited with flash, but will slowly become worse and
worse as you get more flash content from sites. This is affecting
Epiphany and Firefox.

The easiest place to experience this is at hulu.com which loads multiple
flash videos per program. Normally the first 30 min. television show
you watch plays fine, but the next one will have the audio cut out on
it.

Also have experienced the slow down at picnik.com and a few other sites
I use.

Re: [Bug 347062] Re: package checkbox-gtk 0.7 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2009-03-22 Thread DarKnyht
When I attempted re-installation from Synaptics, it installed without
error.

The error happened during a mass update of packages (over 200 mb of data).
I had been on the road and not run updates since the 18th. Everything else
seems to be fine, but the automatic process produced this error.

If you have a way for me to retest, I will follow instructions but otherwise
I am out of my depth.

[Bug 213721] Re: Administrative Password overlay doesn't show up

2008-10-23 Thread DarKnyht
Unfortunately, since I posted this in April and it is no October a lot
has changed. For one I bought a new laptop, and I am now running 8.10
Beta on it. The new laptop and version does not seem to have the
problem (although there are some other issues that have been already
documented by others).

However, I can tell you that at the time I eventually found a solution
to the issue in the Ubuntu Forums. Again unfortunately, I cannot
remember what it was.

Re: [Bug 236148] Re: Nexuiz 2.4.2

2008-08-27 Thread DarKnyht
If I knew how to create and submit an updated package I would not mind doing
so, but I cannot find anywhere that explains the process or a place to
submit it. I enjoy the game, but the nag screen makes it impossible to
play. Factor in that the version that Ubuntu Hardy uses is broken (single
player mode has a game ending bug that the update fixes), and you have a
useless package available for download.

On Wed, Aug 27, 2008 at 1:32 AM, David Masover [EMAIL PROTECTED]
wrote:

 Not even 2.4.1 -- it's 2.4-1, which I take to mean 2.4, Ubuntu patch 1.

The problem is, even if the game is playable, there's a nag screen which
I haven't found a way to turn off short of modifying the code. By nag
screen, I mean something which flies through the screen, blocking your
view, while you're playing -- not something you can click through.

So the package, as it stands, is plainly broken -- it should either NOT
nag the player (at least for singleplayer), or it should be the current
 version.

The common suggestion on the forums is to uninstall the Ubuntu package
and download the zipfile. The only other fix that I can see is to
upgrade to Intrepid -- the obvious problem being that Nexuiz will itself
likely upgrade at some point during the Intrepid cycle.

[Bug 213721] [NEW] Administrative Password overlay doesn't show up

2008-04-07 Thread DarKnyht
Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu Hardy (Development Branch) 8.04, I am consistently having
issues with elevating my privileges to administrative mode for system
upgrades. The system shows the updates that are available, but when I
click install the overlay for my password never shows. I have to kill
the process and re-run to get the overlay, or start a second process
that requires administrative rights first.

I am unsure what is causing this, nor am I exactly sure what package may
be causing this issue. I am running Gnome with Xfwm as my window

[Bug 149909] Linksys WPC54G Ver 3 Adapter ceased working after latest updates

2007-10-06 Thread DarKnyht
Public bug reported:

Installed most recent batch of upgrades last night and this morning, and
after the advised reboot the Linksys Wireless adapter activates, but the
picks up no wi-fi locations. Even a manual setting up does not correct
this problem. Attempted connecting from a distance of 2 feet from the
