I just installed Mint on mine my wife's laptops. There seems to have been some issue with ubuntu nvidia cards for over a year, I just couldn't be arsed anymore. Although Mint seems to be based on ubuntu from what I can make out (I grabbed 17.1 I think), no problems so far, and very happy with it. Ubuntu 14.04 just threw a fit after a software update. nvidia issue of some sort. I've given up reporting it with Apport now - every time it just says something about the bug already being know about.
