[Bug 1969897] Re: Battery report false in kernel 5.13.0-40-generic
I have replicated the issue. Whilst logged into kernel 5.13.0-40-generic I removed power cable for a minute or so, re-inserted power cable and my battery indicator showed 96% and not charging. Restarted machine logging into kernel 5.13.0-39-generic and the battery indicator shows 100% and fully charged. [Bug 1883886]
For me the nightly build does not work either. I am running LibreOffice Version: 6.4.6.2 Build ID: 1:6.4.6-0ubuntu0.20.04.1 CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 5.4; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3; Locale: en-GB (en_GB.UTF-8); UI-Language: en-GB Calc: threaded on aLenovo t410 laptop runnng fully updated/upgraded Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. I have accessibility Large Text switched on, which IMHO is something to do with the problem. If I switch Large Text off, the OK button and others are available at the bottom of the screen BUT all menu text etc is very small causing me to squint. I agree with others, the failure to fix this bug for many months is damaging LibreOffice reputation. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1883886 Title: Print dialogue's height in Libreoffice Writer is too high to see and click buttons. [Bug 1883886] Re: Print dialogue's height in Libreoffice Writer is too high to see and click buttons.
Thanks Daniel. If you take a look at https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=137142#c5 you will see I downloaded and installed in parallel Libre Office 7. That was on Sep 30 Sadly, it made no difference. I have just tried running 7 again (but not a fresh download) and the problem persists. Whilst running 6 or 7 if I ask to print and then switch my Universal Access Large Print off I can then see all the print dialogue and oddly if I then switch Universal Access Large Print back on the size of the fonts increase and yay I can see all of the dialogue box again. Sadly, it does not withstand that view an exit from the dialogue box. ** Bug watch added: Document Foundation Bugzilla #137142 https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=137142 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1883886 Title: Print dialogue's height in Libreoffice Writer is too high to see and click buttons. [Bug 1892440] Re: Shell text with wrong size in mutter 3.36.4-0ubuntu0.20.04.2 (mostly on Nvidia)
I have raised a bug with LibreOffice which I believe may be related. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=137142 To summarise, with a scaling factor of 1.25 and GNOME Desktop Environment Universal Access accessibility Large Print set to on I am unable to see fully the LibreOffice Print dialogue. Setting Large Print to off cures the problem BUT my low vision means I really need to squint. Setting the scaling factor to 1.0 also succeeds but rather bizarrely also automatically switches off GNOME Desktop Environment Universal Access accessibility Large Print. Is all this related? And will the forthcoming fix correct everything including the LibreOffice and Universal Access accessibility Large Print? ** Bug watch added: Document Foundation Bugzilla #137142 https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=137142 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1892440 Title: Shell text with wrong size in mutter 3.36.4-0ubuntu0.20.04.2 (mostly on Nvidia) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mutter/+bug/1892440/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1892440] Re: [focal] [nvidia] Mutter 3.36.4-0ubuntu0.20.04.2 small text in Ubuntu 20.04 with nvidia cards
I have low vision and I thought my vision was just deteriorating! I happened to boot into 18.04 and even after updating it I noticed my fonts in 18.04 were much better on the same hardware. It is most noticeable in the pull-down panels. In 20.04, sure enough if I change the scaling factor from 1.25 to 1.30 the font size is increased and if I then decrease back to 1.25 the font size remains at the higher setting. This high setting does not withstand a re-boot. I am left to conclude, reducing the scaling factor no longer works and at boot, no notice is taken of the setting in place at the last power off. [Bug 1876681] Re: gnome-shell crashes on boot
As requested, all extensions quoted uninstalled and all fine. Still fine after a number of reboots. Decided to re-install each extension one by one. Tried 'bingwallpa...@ineffable-gmail.com' first and once more a similar crash and as before system was still usable. Uninstalled once more and system was fine once more. I then proceeded to reinstall these extensions in this sequence, each time followed by shutdown and reboot. All, no problems. 'dash-to-pa...@jderose9.github.com', 'clipboard-indica...@tudmotu.com', 'applications-overview-tooltip@RaphaelRochet' I have decided I can Live without the others and could even live without the successful ones if necessary. [Bug 1863400] Re: gnome-shell reports problem on boot
Moeez In future, whenever you get a bug and you know the name of package causing the problem use this command inside a terminal session making sure you first have an internet conection:- ubuntu-bug "packagename" So in my case I ran "ubuntu-bug gnome-shell" and it then does the business, goes into your default browser opening a launchpad window/tab (you may need to login). You can then provide some narrative as to what happened which becomes the bug description that you can see at the top of the page of this bug, for example. For now though, given the updates/upgrade you have performed there is no need just yet for further action. If a bug hunter like Daniel comes in he will advise anything different. You might find /var/crash still contains some files in which case it would be safe to delete them - see comment#12 above. No disrespect, but please keep correspondence on bug reports to a minimum - this is not a forum as such. You should be able to correspond direct to me without adding to this bug report and maybe I could direct you to a few places where you can chat and ask questions to your hearts content. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1863400 Title: gnome-shell reports problem on boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1863400/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1764087] Re: Wrongly boots into low graphics mode using kernel 4.13.0-38 (mostly works with 4.13.0-37)
I forgot all about this bug until the tag of cscc was added. As reported previously the machine is now running 18.04.2 LTS fairly well. [Bug 1825640] Re: plymouth default logo not showing on boot
It is an intermittent bug. Sometimes, boot up is no problem and the Ubuntu splash screen does its usual thing. Other times, (infrequently) normal blank screen boot sequence but without splash screen towards the end - just straight into login prompt. At this point, after logging in all seems fine but after a short time a popup dialog box appears saying there is a problem and asks whether to report or not. The problem is, it is not the normal sort of crash report and there is no confidence that report has been submitted and so I raised this manual bug report. It is a minor issue, the only effect is on Ubuntu reputation and could be off putting to new users. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1825640 Title: plymouth default logo not showing on boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plymouth/+bug/1825640/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1764087] Re: Wrongly boots into low graphics mode using kernel 4.13.0-38 (mostly works with 4.13.0-37)
I need to update this bug. Since raising the bug, the machine has been updated to Ubuntu 18.04 but still has some issues. Please cross reference with bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1766974 The grub file remains the same:- GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet nomodeset" which results in lots of scrolling messages which I am happy to put up with. The nain issue is the often errors of:- intel ips :00:1f.6: failed to disable graphics turbo during boot and shutdown. This app arrantly is on +pci::00:1f.6 and I gather is occurring 100s of time in the background. In About my graphics is still showing as llvmpipe (LLVM 6.0, 128 bits) - no idea what this is or how it happened - simething to do with "nomodeset" ? I will do a "apport-collect" to do a full collect and update. ** Tags added: apport-collected bionic ** Description changed: Description: Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS Release: 16.04 Lenovo T410 with VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0046] (rev 02) Booting from latest kernel ThinkPad-T410 4.13.0-38-generic #43~16.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Wed Mar 14 17:48:43 UTC 2018 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux goes into low graphics mode and also effects wi-fi connection insofar as it does not connect to my router. [Bug 1764087] Re: Wrongly boots into low graphics mode
Dissapointed by the lack of progress on this bug, I decided to research and experiment more to a point where I am now happy with the way my boot up and shut down processes are working to my satisfaction, albeit not perfect. You will notice I also raised the bug direct on xorg bug service https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106407 and it was the response in there that made me appreciate it was not an xorg bug but that the problem lay elsewhere. I decided to experiment with my grub file - some nagging thing suggested it might go back several months this when I was having problems related to not being able to disable accelerated graphics on shutdown. During my problems I had assumed I was using an intel graphics driver - my recollections and log outputs never suggested otherwise. Indeed examining > System Settings > Details confimed it was "Graphics Intel® Ironlake Mobile". Little minor things were though not right. One example - when clicking on the date in the system tray it did not display all my upcoming calendar appts from my google calendar. This is now an extract from /etc/default/grub file #GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi=force apm=power_off" # the above line is the original from install - not satisfactory # GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash nomodeset" # the above line is OK but the splash moving dots just keep going! #GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" # the above line results in it booting into low graphics GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet nomodeset" # trying the above line to see if removing "splash" cures the moving dots GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="" You will see it was the addition of the nomodeset param that "solved" the low graphics problem initially mentioned in this bug but it brought with it other issues like the moving splash dots persisting in every screen I opened. (I found the process' connected by ps -ef | grep plymouth and then killed the last one off which got rid of the dots) This then led me to removing the splash param in the grub file and now although I get scrolls of info saying what is happening during boot and no ubuntu splash, I can live with that. Importantly, I should add the addition of the "nomodeset" param means > System Settings > Details now shows "Graphics llvmpipe (LLVM 5.0, 128 bits)". Clicking on date in the system tray displays my google calender recent entries so all in all I am a happy bunny. I will leave it to others to decide the status of this bug. Hopefully, my story may help others get to the bottom of their similar issues. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1764087 Title: Wrongly boots into low graphics mode To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xorg-server/+bug/1764087/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
