[Bug 330833] Re: NetworkManager always overwrites default route when connecting to OpenVPN network

2009-07-06 Thread Dave Pratt
The "use this connection only for resources on this network" option only
works if the routes you normally push through openvpn are on the same
subnet as the openvpn endpoint address you are assigned. Since my vpn
config uses static nat'd addresses on 1918 space to provide a route
through the vpn to non-1918 space that filters traffic not routed
through the vpn AND the vpn only passes traffic for destinations on the
subnets that it pushes routes for there is no combination of checkboxes
in Jaunty's NM configurator which allows this to work as expected. I
want a checkbox that is "only use routes pushed by vpn server" I expect
that this is the ACTUAL behavior that most people expect.

[Bug 147119] Re: network manager gives couldn't activate dialup service warning

2009-04-27 Thread Dave Pratt
Please people! this is ridiculous, read the damned bug description text
before reporting that you are affected by it. If you aren't using
network manager to bring up your connection then you should be filing a
different bug. This bug is specific to network manager not properly
setting state to "online" when using it's own facilities to setup a ppp
connection. Everyone on this thread talking about how they "have this
bug" but aren't using network manager to connect are in the wrong
thread!

** Changed in: network-manager (Ubuntu Hardy)

[Bug 230197] Re: network-manager-openvpn is incapable of supplying openssl-vulnkey with the X.509 key passphrase it requests

2008-05-19 Thread Dave Pratt
@sevy72
>>last week my tunnels was ok what's happened?

Uhm, have you been living under a rock perhaps? Last week a critical
vulnerability in the ssl keygeneration was found in the debian opstream
packaging. It has since been corrected, but any keys/certs generated
under the previous packages are compromised and need to be replaced with
fresh keys. Looks to me like you aren't hitting a bug, but have
correctly be notified that you have a vulnerable key as the "openssl-
vulnkey" manpage would have told you.

[Bug 147119] Re: network manager gives couldn't activate dialup service warning

2008-05-17 Thread Dave Pratt
The above committed patch doesn't appear to work as advertised. NM
doesn't indicate connected on the icon until after I've connected via
wifi then disconnected then started my evdo connection by "Connect to
PPP0 via modem", then disconnecting ppp0 doesn't return the nm-applet
icon to the disconnected state. So, it feels a little closer, but not
close enough.
