[Bug 1845824] [NEW] Blueman NAP feeds bad DNS to clients on Ubuntu with dhcpd
Public bug reported: I'm on Ubuntu 19.04 blueman-2.0.5-1ubuntu2 Symptom: When configuring blueman to offer a Bluetooth Network Access Point and instructing it to use dhcpd for the DHCP server, it feeds 127.0.0.53 to the clients as the DNS server. This does not work because 127.0.0.0/8 is only accessible from localhost, and the clients route that address to themselves. The code which generates the DHCP config is in /usr/lib/python3/dist- packages/blueman/main/NetConf.py and the offending code can be found in the get_dns_servers function at line 112 It pulls the DNS server out of /etc/resolv.conf. On modern Ubuntu systems, Ubuntu has a DNS cache server installed, which binds to 127.0.0.53, so that's what it puts in /etc/resolv.conf. This is not the real DNS server of course, and it's not reachable from NAP clients. Short of pulling the DNS server from NetworkManager (which seems complicated), a good compromise would be to give me a configuration option to override the DNS server so I can manually specify one to feed to the NAP clients. ** Affects: blueman (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1845824 Title: Blueman NAP feeds bad DNS to clients on Ubuntu with dhcpd To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/blueman/+bug/1845824/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 343989] Re: no sound on nvidia-based Mac Mini
So, some experimenting I hooked up a Griffin iMic USB Audio connector figuring a USB output was probably a standard supported thing... Went into the GNOME Sound panel and hit the Test button. With it set to Automatic, still no sound. Manually chose Griffin Tech iMic USB Audio (ALSA), and I get an error: "audiotest wave=sine freq=512 ! audioconvert ! audioresample ! gconfaudiosink: Could not open audio device for playback." Manually chose Griffin Tech iMic USB Audio (OSS), and it works and I get sound. Manually chose HDA NVidia ALC883 Analog (ALSA), which is the built-in sound, and got the identical error I got above with the iMic via ALSA. Manually chose HDA NVidia ALC883 Digital (ALSA), and it goes through the motions but produces no sound. [Bug 343781] Re: nvidia-based Mac Mini won't reboot (but will halt)
So in an unrelated incident, I upgraded the RAM in the Mini to 4GB, and could only see 2.6 GB of it. Having seen this problem on RHEL servers before, I knew the answer was "install a PAE-enabled kernel". Couldn't find anything branded that in Ubuntu's repos, but I saw the "linux- server" package, which I suspected probably would have it, so I installed that, and it did. Where that little story ties back to this bug is the linux-server version of the kernel *can* reboot the machine. So it's doing something different about reboot than the -generic kernel. -- nvidia-based Mac Mini won't reboot (but will halt) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/343781 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 343989] [NEW] no sound on nvidia-based Mac Mini
Public bug reported: I just installed Ubuntu Intrepid on a paid of new nvidia-based Mac Minis (March 2009 model). Neither one has working sound. I've walked through the entirety of http://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshooting and tried everything on there short of recompiling ALSA from source. Plan to try that next, but if that fixes it, then you guys still need a bug report because the distributed build will need to be fixed, too. :) Another thing that confuses me is that the troubleshooting tips on that page all seem to refer to ALSA for everything, while Intrepid appears to use PulseAudio instead. The only device that shows up in alsamixergui is PulseAudio. I did try uninstalling pulseaudio and just using bare ALSA, but that didn't change anything. I also installed the PulseAudio Device Chooser, and the only device it lists is "Default". Everything in the system seems to claim that sound is working, and it all goes through the motions. There's just no sound coming out of the speakers. I do get the boot chime, and sound works in OS X. [Bug 343781] [NEW] nvidia-based Mac Mini won't reboot (but will halt)
Public bug reported: When I tell Ubuntu to restart the system, it goes through the entire shutdown sequence, then hangs on a blank screen at the point when it would normally reboot the computer. This is a brand new (March 2009) Mac Mini, Intel-based with an Nvidia video card, system ID "Macmini3,1". Telling it to shut down is successful, it does power itself off when the shutdown completes. I found existing (resolved) bugs on this issue for other machines that suggested adding "reboot=b" to the kernel params as a workaround for this, but that was not successful either. [Bug 9802] Re: "Available Version" doesn't show what's in repository if it's older
> David, has your initial bug been fixed? Nope, just ran into this again a week or so ago on edgy... A new version of mythtv showed up, but the modules for it hadn't been compiled yet. So I built my own packages of the updated version of the modules, then a week later when they finally showed up in the repo, the way I'd done my package versioning made it look newer than what got officially packaged (I did 0.20a since that's what upstream had available - the package that hit the repo dropped the a off the end), and it didn't show me what was in the repo (had to look for the Force Version thing again). Kind of an edge case... I won't be terribly upset if it doesn't get fixed. ;) But it'd still make life a little easier if it does. -- "Available Version" doesn't show what's in repository if it's older https://launchpad.net/bugs/9802 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
