[Bug 196993] ✈Fw: The end of the year typically entails some last-minute Christmas shopping

tickets. So, take a chance from work deadlines and family commitments, and
plan a vacation to refresh yourself. Maybe you did not get chance to take
holidays last summer season. You will want to go now and experience
different cultures? Explore Disney World, meet tigers in Thailand, take a
flight over New York in a helicopter, get a Brazilian football match, dive
with sharks in Cape Town or discover the many wonders of Asia and the Pacific,
there's a great deal to see and experience. Understand that things can be
lost, discarded or substituted but irrespective of where your life may lead,
your travel experience will be yours. So waste not a minute, avail the great
deals and soar to your favorite destination.Looking for cheap flights
is something we've all done at some point. For a lot of, it's part of the
routine that goes into booking a holiday. For others, it's a terrific way to
book a spontaneous but affordable impromptu getaway. Our telephone:
888-369-2751.
2) The Santa Brand Book
"Santa is a Concept, not an idea. It's an Emotion, not a feeling. It's both
Yesterday and Today. It's Tomorrow as well." That's how this ingenious brand
book from communications consulting firm Quietroom begins. And believe me when
I say the rest of it is just as kooky and wonderfully facetious.
Case in point: Take a look below at this "brand house" that details the
core components of Old Saint Nick's brand strategy. I ... I can't even.
3) Apple Holiday Commercial
Oh, Apple — how you've done it again. Say what you will about the tech giant,
but hot damn, do they know how to churn out one wonderful ad after another.
The streak stays alive with this touching spot that, once again, shows the
company's a step ahead of the competition when it comes to showing the
usefulness of its products and adding in that human element that draws people
in.
(The use of Cat Power's rendition of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas"
certainly bolsters that personal touch Apple is so well-known for adding to
 its commercials.)
4) Coke Zero Sweater Generator
Interactive sites are becoming more popular each and every day, and thus,
it's no surprise that some well-known brands are jumping on board with the
marketing concept. Take Coca-Cola for instance.
With this Sweater Generator, it's clear the soda-maker certainly gets that
holiday marketing doesn't need to focus on its product and should be warm,
inviting, and personable.
5) Netflix "Fireplace for Your Home" Trailer
Think of where Netflix was just a couple years ago, when it announced its
ill-fated plans for a second service called Qwikster (which led to substantial
backlash and some poor PR). Today, though, it's a whole different story.
In addition to awesome original programming (if you're not watching House of
Cards, you should be), it's nailing every aspect of its marketing. Want
proof? Look no further than the fake trailer below.
6) Topshop

Actually, I have a strategy where I could convince a lot of people that
I'm great at picking stocks.

Let's say I am going to tell you if APPL is going up or down tomorrow.
I tell half the people who sign up that APPL is going up. I tell half that
it's going down. On the next day I do the same thing again, and so on for
10 days.

After 10 days, 1 in 1024 of the people have seen results that are
**exactly** right. I've convinced them, so I send them an email and say
"pay me $200 and I'll keep telling you what will happen". The guy who
saw it right all 10 times is pretty likely to do that (actually the
guys who saw it right 8 or 9 times are pretty likely to also, and
there are 56 of them).

If I really had a system that could tell me if APPL will be up or
down tomorrow, I'd just invest my own money and keep the returns.
Why would I sell it to you for a measly $200?

Why would it be weird? I'm learning japanese and I don't even know if
I'll ever go there even on vacation. I'm learning because I like the
language, and because it might be useful, and because I want to. If
you're only learning because you wanted to live there and don't anymore,
then yes, you should stop. But if that's the main reason, what's the
point, you could just go there speaking only a few words and then
learn the language in its own country, which would be probably
easier.

"God" would have a will, yes, but possibly only a Universal scale.
Such as why things function the way they do.

The advanced form of Physics may have some more advanced form of
understanding of basic properties of the Universe, such as Consciousness.
If it were, for example, discovered that Consciousness is actually the basic
property of the Universe and that matter, energy, and forces such as gravity
are emergent properties of that Consciousness, then we could be a step closer
to a model that has similarities with religious understandings of God. Another
idea might emerge from the discovery that the quantum fluctuations of the
vacume are not merely random but interact intelligently and purposely with
living beings.

Hi,

Have you seen that awesome place already? We've visited it a couple of
days ago and we are so excited! Please take a look

Subject: Yeah totally man.

Thanks. Hands down I can rule out any action between him and any other
guy - that was his first reservation. That's also not what I'd want
either. I get the feeling he's torn between his biggest turn on
(turning me on and getting me off) and another guy wanting PIV sex
from me- that's not what I want from it at all. All I want is twice
the fun and to try it with 2 men instead of women! Would you have a
hang up with halving the amount of pressure on you during foreplay?

Maybe I will have to text him, that way there's no chance of us getting worked
up, fucking like rabbits and getting no where.. the worst is he's a little
upset with me, after 10 years together I know how to deal with his bruised
ego :)

I agree that null field is a bit boring, but it's one of those skills
which could be really useful but we underestimate because it's not an
active spell - I think it gives the hero certain utility which is
often forgotten.

I do however thing the range on the thing could do with increasing,
perhaps to around 1300 or so.

[Bug 978464] Re: Upgrade 10.04 to 12.04 Beta 2 failed, grub issue

2012-05-05 Thread David Pashley
After a little bit of experimenting (and lots of rebooting) I tracked
down the problem to a number of syntax errors in the generated grub.cfg.
See attached for the changes that allowed my VM to boot. Obviously the
changes will need to be made to the source files rather than the
grub.cfg, but these should be easy to make from the diff supplied.

(It would be great if grub would output a better error message when it
fails to read its config file correctly)

** Patch added: Diff to my grub.cfg

[Bug 978464] Re: Upgrade 10.04 to 12.04 Beta 2 failed, grub issue

2012-05-05 Thread David Pashley
It's also worth mentioning that my running grub is 1.98-1ubuntu12, and
1.99-21ubuntu3 is installed, so obviously something during the upgrade
fails to install the new version of grub.

[Bug 485923] Re: Probable memory leak in gnome-settings-daemon/gnome-volume-control-applet

2010-03-06 Thread David Pashley
Installed the packages from abayliss's karmic PPA, logged out and logged
back in and used spotify. The good news is the gnome-volume-control-
applet has not grown from 12MB over night. The bad news is the gnome-
settings-daemon has grown from 10MB to 161MB overnight.

[Bug 275610] Re: FastCGIExternalServer and AddHandler don't work correctly

2008-09-29 Thread David Pashley
I've tracked down this to a change in 2.2.13 from some point between
22-Sep-2002 and 22-Oct-2002 with the description in the changelog saying

*) Eliminate the need for SetHandler or AddHandler with static or
external applications.

[Bug 275610] [NEW] FastCGIExternalServer and AddHandler don't work correctly

2008-09-28 Thread David Pashley
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libapache2-mod-fastcgi

If you set up an external fastcgi server using FastCGIExternalServer and
then anything under that path is passed to the external server, despite
what ever AddHandler or SetHandler you have configured for fastcgi-
script. An example of this problem is setting up a PHP fastcgi server
and configuring apache to use it. Every file is passed through the php
binary, which sets the content type to text/html, which breaks
javascript and stylesheets.

I've tracked the bug down to the fixups function in mod_fastcgi.c, which
looks to see if the file path is under a fastcgi server, and if it is,
marks it as fastcgi-script. I've written a patch which only changes the
handler if it isn't an external server, however I'm wondering the logic
of automatically changing the handler, when it should be set in the
config file using AddHandler and SetHandler.

[Bug 196395] Re: quodlibet.py crashed with AttributeError in reset()

2008-07-23 Thread David Pashley
Yes it works, but it still spits out backtraces on startup. The initial
report said that the player stayed working, but that apport claimed a
crash, which is what is reported here.
