[Bug 775345] Re: USB headset not selectable in Output tab of Sound Preferences
I am not sure whether this will help anyone, but I have just checked my laptop, which is also running 11.04 (the comment above relates to my desktop). The laptop was last updated on 28 June, and works fine. The desktop has had 3 updates since then and exhibits the problems described in #27 Pure guesswork, but the most likely candidate seems to be the update on the 30 June, principally because it contains firmware and kernel updates. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/775345 Title: USB headset not selectable in Output tab of Sound Preferences To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-media/+bug/775345/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 775345] Re: USB headset not selectable in Output tab of Sound Preferences
I have not tried to use sound for a while, so this may relate to the updates noted by David Robert Lewis ... I am back where I was in my post here of 2011-05-04 (#10): usb headset / mike appears in "hardware", but not in input or output. Sound preferences also crashes if you attempt to test the speakers. I tried the killall pulseaudio of #19 and this made the headset appear in the outputs (but no mike on the inputs). The "test speakers" function no longer causes a crash - but there is no sound, so it is not much of an improvement! There certainly seems to be a regression issue here on the updates, I had be using this headset regularly for speech recognition until about 3 months ago -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/775345 Title: USB headset not selectable in Output tab of Sound Preferences To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-media/+bug/775345/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 992494] [NEW] Crash prevents Eclipse starting

Thanks for such a quick response, this is now fixed. I did as you suggested and found that hp-systray was not running. [Bug 775345] Re: USB headset not selectable in Output tab of Sound Preferences
I couldn't afford to wait for a fix, so I re-installed 10.10. I didn't realise just how much I had configured over the years of Ubuntu upgrades; it took up a lot of time getting back to where I was - a shame this one caused me to revert and spoil the good record. [Bug 775345] Re: USB headset not selectable in Output tab of Sound Preferences
This is more than just "nice to have" for me - I use the headset / microphone extensively for speech recognition. This bug has completely removed that capability. I can confirm the same symptoms as above - usb headset / mike appears in "hardware", but not in input or output. Sound preferences also crashes if you attempt to test the speakers. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/775345 Title: USB headset not selectable in Output tab of Sound Preferences -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Teej Thanks - to be honest I am unlikely to find out, so you can close this call. I have other problems upgrading to 8.04 LTS which I haven't yet reported, and it may take a while for me to get round to that David 2009/5/20 Teej > Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make > Ubuntu better. [Bug 120718] Unmet dependency linux-lowlatency
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-image-lowlatency sudo apt-get install linux-lowlatency Password: Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that the package is simply not installable and a bug report against that package should be filed. The following information may help to resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies. linux-lowlatency: Depends: linux-image-lowlatency (= 2.6.20.15.14) but 2.6.20.16.28.1 is to be installed E: Broken packages [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ** Affects: linux-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Unmet dependency linux-lowlatency https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/120718 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
