[Bug 1894049] [NEW] No audio for middle/center/subwoofer, muted by default for Creative X-Fi 20k1 chip

2020-09-03 Thread death
Public bug reported:

With X.1 surround configurations only middle/center/subwoofer channel is
muted by default. All other channels are ok. I need unmute with
alsamixer.

For Ubuntu 20.04 or any distro:

I confirm that Middle/center/Subwoofer is working, when add this(Because
for my card, center channel is not called Center, LFE or CLFE like other
cards, but it's Center/LFE instead):

[Element Center/LFE]
switch = mute
volume = merge
override-map.1 = center,lfe

To the /usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/paths/analog-output.conf

The card is Auzentech Auzen X-Fi Prelude 7.1 with Creative X-Fi 20k1
chip

With this solution, there is no need to unmute middle channel. All
channels have sound without edit alsamixer in terminal.

[Bug 1766555] Re: openscad package missing from 18.04

2019-01-08 Thread Alexia Death
using bionc-s build seems to work - just swap the ppa
/etc/apt/sources.list.d file relase definition from cosmic to bionic.
Any library related crashes you MAY get are probably because of lib
version incompatibility, so don't report any bugs to openscad from this
hack. that said, it worked for the models I had.

[Bug 1448102] Re: Kubuntu 15.04: plasmashell crashes

2015-05-07 Thread Alexia Death
I discovered that the upgrade process from 14.10-15.4 for some reason
held back plasma-desktop and simply did not install plasma-desktop-
data and several other packages. running sudo apt-get dist-upgrade fixed
the package issues and plasma desktop stopped crashing, witch it was
doing because it did not have some of the data(shell handlers) it needed
to function.

2013-04-29 Thread Alexia Death
As to why it appeated after dist-upgrade, the kcm configuration utility
wasnt installed by default before AFAIK. I have actually tested it when
it was quite new, ran into the same bug and uninstalled...

[Bug 1174043] Re: After dist-upgrade to 13.04 Intuos3 can not drag/paint any more

2013-04-29 Thread Alexia Death
Ive figgured out what's wrong with the tablet configuration:
xinput list-props before, with the bug:
Wacom button action 0 (288):1572865, 524289
Wacom button action 1 (289):1572866
Wacom button action 2 (290):1572867
Wacom button action 3 (291):1572872
Wacom button action 4 (292):1572873
Device Product ID (261):1386, 177
Wacom Debug Levels (293): 0, 0

This looks a bit supcious to me... So i did:
xinput set-prop Wacom Intuos3 6x8 stylus Wacom button action 0 1572865

Resulting in:
Wacom button action 0 (288):1572865
Wacom button action 1 (289):1572866
Wacom button action 2 (290):1572867
Wacom button action 3 (291):1572872
Wacom button action 4 (292):1572873
Device Product ID (261):1386, 177
Wacom Debug Levels (293): 0, 0

And now I can drag just fine... Untill I touch anything in the KDE
tablet configuration utility - then the situation above is restored and
no more drag for me

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=252925 - this KDE bug suggests
that this behavior is more of a driver bug than KDe configuration
utility bug.

Will do apport again in a moment. Yes, I use KDE, I have gnome installed
tho, if you want me to test something.

[Bug 1174043] [NEW] After dist-upgrade to 13.04 Intuos3 can not drag/paint any more

2013-04-28 Thread Alexia Death
Public bug reported:

After dist-upgrade to 13.04 Intuos3 can not drag/paint any more.

Button down is immediately followed by button release, so I CAN click,
but painting is limited to single tab of paint at a time in gimp and
does not work at all in Krita. I can not even to move windows around...

xinput shows that the pressure axis values are correct, but button up
event is not - it comes right after button press, not when I lift the
pen.

Booting an older kernel did not fix this.

** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Package changed: grub2 (Ubuntu) = xorg (Ubuntu)

** Description changed:

[Bug 1174043] Re: After dist-upgrade to 13.04 Intuos3 can not drag/paint any more

2013-04-28 Thread Alexia Death
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected raring third-party-packages

** Description changed:

After dist-upgrade to 13.04 Intuos3 can not drag/paint any more.

Button down is immediately followed by button release, so I CAN click,
but painting is limited to single tab of paint at a time in gimp and
does not work at all in Krita. I can not even to move windows around...

xinput shows that the pressure axis values are correct, but button up
event is not - it comes right after button press, not when I lift the
  pen.

Booting an older kernel did not fix this.

[Bug 900901]

2012-02-29 Thread Silver-death
(In reply to comment #27)
The version compiled without flags doesn't work with Steam in-game overlay,
 but
the second one works. I've used those flags:

I didn't use any flags and it works for me.

(In reply to comment #28)
One thing I might note is that games will not start with the community overlay
enabled when steam is run from a shell. Starting steam with xdg-open on/or the
 desktop launcher will work, however.

I couldn't confirm this. I can run those games from shell and from
desktop launcher.

[Bug 900901]

2012-01-16 Thread Silver-death
(In reply to comment #25)
Lets make it clear, this is bug in gcc, not Wine. The new 4.6.x gcc screwed
things up again, breaking more then steam.

I use gcc 4.6.1 (exact version: (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.6.1-9ubuntu3) 4.6.1) on
Ubuntu 11.10 (current version in official ubuntu-repositories) and in-
game community overlay works (tested with Borderlands and Half-Live 2)

[Bug 863154] Re: Wacom Bamboo One tablet random coordinate malfunctions

2011-12-04 Thread Alexia Death
This is for ubuntu people: As fixing or replacing X can be complcated,
there is the patch in master git tree (
http://git.gnome.org/browse/gimp/commit/?id=dbf844c012894166e312470f0d98560d5e426613
) that could be ported to 2.6 in packaging . you would have working gimp
on this broken setup without radical changes.

People who are setting their mice to screen mode - DON'T. You don't get
any benefits and whole lot of trouble, including this bug. Leave it
disabled. Screen mode is for tablets.

KDE tools were using the event hstory buffer as well, and they did the
same thing I did in GIMP 2.7. Witch is to stop using it. The only thing
it proves is that GTK is not at fault, X is.

Oh, problems with the event history buffer can originate pretty much
anywhere below GIMP, so wacom driver to X to GTK can be the cause... And
I don't know of any other application outside gimp that uses it... If
you do, let me know.

[Bug 863154] Re: Wacom Bamboo One tablet random coordinate malfunctions

2011-10-18 Thread Alexia Death
m-marti, is your mouse for some reason enabled as an extended device? If
yes, disable it. You wont lose anything as mouse does not provide any
extra info for extended devices.

As far as I am aware from my testing with mmiicc, it only affects
extended devices and a specific event deliver mechanism known as event
history buffer that is provided by X. It's a known source of trouble.
According to my tests with mmiicc 2.7 does not exhibit this problem
because of this commit:
http://git.gnome.org/browse/gimp/commit/?id=dbf844c012894166e312470f0d98560d5e426613
With this I disabled the history buffer use because there are plenty of
cheap tablet drivers that get it permanently wrong and 2.7 has event
fill that prevents even mice from drawing polygons when moved fast, so
milking every single event out of the device is no longer essential.

apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

Since updating to maverick I've been experiencing random crashes usually
after few hours or so running. It starts with screen blinking black for
a moment. after that there is a long period of high CPU usage with
frozen screen image, sometimes with cursor still moving, sometimes not.
If I wait long enough screen blanks and num lock and caps lock light
start blinking, indicating a panic. the panic itself is not logged but
each crash so far has been preceded by an unexpected NMI. Using the
kernel left over from Lucid prevents the crash. I do use the nvidia
  binary driver.

The bug has occurred again with latest kernel. Subjectively, it feels
that its incidence has gone down. with the previous kernel in maverick I
hardly got a few hours of uptime. this time it was almost a day before
it crashed.

Well, I removed the non-working image from my system and have been using

be worth testing again.

[Bug 665391] [NEW] maverick kernel panic after NMI on Compal laptop

2010-10-22 Thread Alexia Death
Public bug reported:

Since updating to maverick I've been experiencing random crashes usually
after few hours or so running. It starts with screen blinking black for
a moment. after that there is a long period of high CPU usage with
frozen screen image, sometimes with cursor still moving, sometimes not.
If I wait long enough screen blanks and num lock and caps lock light
start blinking, indicating a panic. the panic itself is not logged but
each crash so far has been preceded by an unexpected NMI. Using the
kernel left over from Lucid prevents the crash. I do use the nvidia
binary driver.

[Bug 459639] Re: X server starts randomly in failsafe when starting from cold boot

2010-09-09 Thread Alexia Death
Probably none of these specifically. It's a timing issue so it depends
on how fast the system is loaded from the drive. For me, faster drive or
installing server software equally hid the bug. Faster drive probably
because nvidia loads faster now and the server software because X was
delayed a second or two.

Looking at your changes, the update that made the issue appear probably
made some start-up component faster, speculatively mountall looks
interesting, but I haven't checked the change log. The next update
updated at least one service, potentially making the startup again
slightly slower.

The triggering factors of this bug can range from hardware to installed
packages to how fragmented your drive is and how much drive seeking for
components happens during load. None of these are really the cause. The
cause is that upstart optimized for fast start up is starting X before
the underlying system is ready in some systems and under some
circumstances.

[Bug 459639] Re: X server starts randomly in failsafe when starting from cold boot

2010-08-18 Thread Alexia Death
Actually its neither kdm nor nvidia bug. Its an straight out
ubuntu/upstart bug. Upstart starts KDM before the nvidia driver in the
kernel is ready is ready and X fails. Perhaps a proper fix would be an
upstart job that is installed with the binary driver and checks if
nvidia is ready and delays X start until it is.

[Bug 549727] Re: [10.04] Touchpad stops working after login

2010-08-10 Thread Alexia Death
I have a generic compal laptop without such physical button. However, I
got this bug. The solution offered in comment #50 fixed it for me. Just
prior to this bug manifesting my laptop went into sleep mode it failed
to wake up from leaving my touchpad in this disabled state and as
described in separate bug Network Manager turned off pretty much making
my laptop unusable.

After clean install stopped seeing the bug, but the install was
accompanied by switching to new and faster hard-drive, so I cant say
anything about the actual status of the bug. It was always a matter of
seconds so the new harddrive is probably a factor.

[Bug 496093] Re: [lucid] rt2860 frequently fails to connect to mixed mode WPA/WPA2 secured wireless networks

2010-05-12 Thread Alexia Death
This bug has bitten me as well. My kid sister has a EeePC 1000h and she
of course updated without me around and obviously its my fault for
recommending Linux that she cant get to the net now. I bet more than one
person supporting a family members netbook is getting the same treatment
making this a rather personal issue for many. Please fix it fast because
any sort of kernel replacements only last untill next kernel update and
then it will break AGAIN for everybody.

hope to solve it in the next few weeks and then I can comment on this

[Bug 459639] Re: [Karmic] X server starts randomly in failsafe when starting from cold boot

2010-03-18 Thread Alexia Death
Just to note, that as soon I uninstalled the sever components(postgresql
database sever in my case) I had needed temporarily the issue came back.
More often than not for cold boots fail and from what I see from the
logs KDM writes, X fails without any clear error messages after trying
to load the nvidia driver. I suspect it's because the kernel driver is
not done with initalizing hardware yet. I am not however aware how alter
upstart so, that X would start little bit later. It seems to be a a
matter of few seconds only.

[Bug 309724] Re: no sound after fast switching between logged in users

2010-01-14 Thread Alexia Death
User switching breaks pulseaudio for me now all the time. If I kill all
pulseaudio sessions and start my own again with pulse-session I get
sound again. For firefox to regain sound i need to kill it too. However,
this is not the intended muting of curently inactive user, or if it is,
its broken. My problem is that my session loses all sound if there is
another users session live, but not active.

[Bug 160833] Re: Dolphin corrupts / forgets smb username and password

2010-01-03 Thread Alexia Death
Its not losing the credentials. I had the same problem and dug through
it. smb component in dolphin is making too many connections and as a
result filling up the server side user session limit that is 10 for XP.
Then it ignores the STATUS_REQUEST_NOT_ACCEPTED on session creation and
gets access denied when trying to connect. I have filed a bug about this
upstream. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=221094

This only happens if the machine has lots of shares and/or lots of other
users. 10 concurrent session limit is easy to hit with 7 shares and
dolphin making a connection for each one on sight + one for your
request and there are two more people using the system.
