[Bug 1050080] Re: Gimp Spelling in single window mode.

2013-03-06 Thread Debra Virden
I have looked into this bug and my version of gimp is on English US. My
version uses "dialogs" and not "dialogues". I have found through
searching the code that "dialogues" is only used in the English GB and
English CA translations. I am not familiar enough with using those
translations to know if this is still a bug. If someone that is familiar
with these translations some input would be appreciated. I have attached
the Grep output for the search for "dialogues".

[Bug 926155] Re: Cannot move side bars when in window mode / barely moved when maximized

2013-03-03 Thread Debra Virden
** Summary changed:

- Cannot move side bars when in windo mode / barely moved when maximixed
+ Cannot move side bars when in window mode / barely moved when maximized

** Description changed:

Fresh install of Ubuntu 11.10 / Fresh install of Gimp.

Loaded the first time, and could not move the side bars which hold all
the later / icon information. The "Close / Move / Etc" bars are at the
top of the windows, and that is being covered by the un-right clickable
un-moveable un-hideable "Tool" bar. Had to maximize the whole program
- and then i was able to grab 3 pixles worth of side tool bars and move
+ and then I was able to grab 3 pixels worth of side tool bars and move
them around and re-size it so they are not covered any more.

- Overall Problem: Bring back quick access to hid / move that dumb tool
+ Overall Problem: Bring back quick access to hide / move that dumb tool
bar up top. The side bar has the ability to slide away and we do not see
it. However you stick us with that useless bar on the top.

[Bug 1077999] Re: python imported wrong file

2013-03-03 Thread Debra Virden
** Description changed:

- Someone asked me to modify keepnote . I unpacked the gz file, changed
directory to the top level keepnote directory created by tar, then checked to
see if keepnote is installed on my system with the command
- keepnote
- keepnote happens to be written in python2 and there are a bunch of python
files in the directory I described. keepnote is not installed on my system.
command-not-found imported a file from the local directory and failed.
command-not-found clearly won't work with every python2 file, and shouldn't
load files from the local directory anyway. I suppose this problem might be
pervasive.

[Bug 874110] Re: default keyboard for English not correct

2013-02-27 Thread Debra Virden
** Description changed:

This is not so much a bug as a design fault but a fairly annoying one
and one that was present for 11.04 and now 11.10 as well.

- The problem is simple...the first step of the installer selects language. All
good and well. I choose English.
+ The problem is simple...the first step of the install is to select language.
All good and well. I choose English.
But then the installer stupidly assumes you are using a standard US English
keyboard. I am not. I am using a Spanish keyboard because my laptop was not
bought in the US.

- The big problem is when you then go to manually partition your hard
- drive. You can't enter "/" unless you copy paste it or can remember
- which key it is on a US keyboard.
+ The problem is when you then go to manually partition your hard drive.
+ You can't enter "/" unless you copy paste it or can remember which key
+ it is on a US keyboard.

Then to rub salt in the wound the page letting you select keyboard is at
  the end of the installer.

I don't know who designed the order of the pages but they need to learn
that keyboard selection needs to follow language.

[Bug 1044974] Re: Rhythmbox hangs with stupid alert box when syncing iPod

2013-02-27 Thread Debra Virden
** Description changed:

Having deleted all the songs from my iPod Touch 16GB I was trying to put
another 10GB of songs back on.

Wasn't optimistic, thanks to Apple's obfuscated protocols, and sure
enough about a half hour later the whole thing had hung, with a blank
alert box and a greyed out screen. The music I was playing went on for a
bit, but even that has stopped now.

Screenshot attached below, and no, I didn't want 50 copies of Texas "Put
your arms around me". Please don't take this as a sign of my musical
- tastes. It was a test run with my girlfriend's music and clearly a bug
- that it is somehow writing so many of the same track to the iPod, or
- maybe a visual glitch.

[Bug 1107491] Re: gnome-system-monitor doesn't shows the real amount of RAM is used

2013-02-27 Thread Debra Virden
** Description changed:

  1) ubuntu 12.10 64bit
  2) gnome-system-monitor 3.6.0
- 3) Whenever I used vmware player and chose an amount of ram for the virtual
os, despite of how much ram was used by the virtual os, I want to see the
summary of the RAM was used under "Resources". Firstly I thought that was the
way it is. Then I used windows and vmware player in them. I noticed that on
'task manager / processes' didn't indicate this amount, exactly as
gnome-system-manager on ubuntu. Although, on 'task manager / performance' there
was all of it! So, I expect to see the whole amount of RAM is used under
'gnome-system-monitor / resources'

  4) [ I don't know how gnome-system-monitor calculates the amount of RAM. I
add the amount of all processes (maybe stupid?) and the result was less. ] When
the vmware player starts, the amount of used ram comes up a little. When the
virtual os starts, the amount of ram doesn't change. (it changes from 1,9gb to
2,1gb) The virtual os (windows in this test) said that they were using 1gb.
  5) I don't know what to hope:
- - hope that this is really a bug and I hadn't spam you
+ - hope that this is really a bug and I haven't spammed you
  - hope that windows task manager was wrong and actually windows uses 200mb of
ram in virtual(!)

-
- The reason I post that bug was that ubuntu freezes when opening three vmware
players alongside. From the gnome-system-monitor side of view, it didn't make
any sense to me (cpu low, ram low). From the task manager side of view.. I had
exceeded the amount of my ram (cpu low), which make sense. I hope that helps.
thank you :)

[Bug 1124715] Re: [RARING] Zeitgeist 0.9.5 + other app = kernel panic

2013-02-27 Thread Debra Virden
** Description changed:

- New install on an HTPC (Atom D525) with Ubuntu Raring. Kernel Panic occurs
when i run a big thing like flashplayer or pcsx-r. I tried to install Xubuntu

install Ubuntu One (not provided with xubuntu) and i had Kernel Panic again. As
i found old bugs report (for ubuntu 11.10) pointing out zeitgeist, i tried :
xubuntu + flashplayer --> works fine, xubuntu + flash blayer + zeigeist

minutes watching video before kernel panic occurs with zeitgeist whereas
without zeitgeist i have been watching videos during more than 40 minutes each
time whith no matters... (but i have no more time to lost watching stupid cats

[Bug 1037579] Re: can't print and automatically fit picture to frame

2013-02-25 Thread Debra Virden
** Description changed:

  Hi,
I am trying to print a picture to a 6"x4" photo paper.
- If the picture is not originally shot with the same scale ratio than the
photo paper, then there is white borders on the sides.
+ If the picture is not originally shot with the same scale ratio as the photo
paper, then there will be white borders on the sides.

There is no option to automatically fit the picture to the frame by
  croping borders of the pictures.

In windows there is just a checkbox to check to obtain this.
  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-sg/windows-vista/Print-a-picture

In the "image settings" pane of Ubuntu, there is various settings to position
the picture in the frame and dynamically see the result, but everything is
manual, and the "scaling" option seems bugous since you can only zoom out wich
only creates more white borders. AS you see in the attached screeenshot, the
max scaling is 13% (why 13% ??) and I can't go past this.
For whatever reason there is a "scale" option in percentage on the 'Page
Setup" pane, but you can't see how it will render unless you do a print
preview, and it will take many tries to get the right amount of zoom.

I tried Gimp, Shotwell, EOG, and there is this issue everywhere.

Until now my fix is to print on windows ...

[Bug 1132767] Re: Update GIMP to version 2.8.4

2013-02-25 Thread Debra Virden
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 1124489] Re: no translation in german for: "Try without any change to your computer"

2013-02-20 Thread Debra Virden
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

[Bug 1130717] Re: Must exit screenshot app to take another one

2013-02-20 Thread Debra Virden
** Description changed:

Not sure if this is really a bug, but it surely irritates me.

Whenever I take a screenshot (printscreen) the Screenshot app fires up.
I then copy the screenshot to my clipboard, open up gimp and do whatever
  i need to.

- After that, I need another screenshot. So I press printscreen again.
+ After that, if I need another screenshot. I press printscreen again.
This time nothing happens. I have to manually quit the Screenshot app,
- and printscreen it again. I prefer the printscreen button to override
- the existing printscreen, regardless of whether the screenshot app is
- running.

[Bug 366470] Re: Ekiga destroys Evolution address book

2013-02-04 Thread Debra Virden
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: ekiga

  Jaunty, Ekiga 3.2.0.

I decided to import contacts from Thunderbird to Evolution because Ekiga
can use supposedly use these addresses. So I spent some time getting
things organized, no problem. Then I configure Ekiga and take a look at
the addressbook. Didn't change anything using Ekiga, just took a look.
Then I closed Ekiga, did some other stuff and then I needed an Evolution
- contacts. Nothing there. Ekiga fucked them up. addressbook.db and
+ contacts. Nothing there. Ekiga messed them up. addressbook.db and
addressbook.db.summary are still there, but Evolution can't read them
  properly.

Yes, it's reproducible. I stupidly went through the process of importing
my contacts twice before realizing that Ekiga was the problem.

2013-02-04 Thread Debra Virden
