[Bug 111039] Re: xtightvncviewer scrolling doesn't work

2007-07-02 Thread DerekBuranen
left-click on the toolbar and it will scroll right or up
right-click on the toolbar and it will scroll left or up

And because this is annoying and unintuitive, It's addressed in the new
vncviewer in Gutsy that uses GTK toolbars

(mark as fixed upstream?)

[Bug 123631] vncviewer -listen allows connections from UltraVNC SC clients, but doesn't display the window

2007-07-02 Thread DerekBuranen
Public bug reported:

Package: xvnc4viewer
Version: 4.1.1+xorg1.0.2-0ubuntu4

I use UltraVNC-based SingleClick to support windows users:
http://www.uvnc.com/pchelpware/creator/index.html

I've created a remote support application using their tool
(http://www.uvnc.com/pchelpware/creator/index.html) and have used it for
over a year to display Windows users desktops on my Ubuntu box. My
regular motion is to run vncviewer -listen via terminal and then have
the windows users connect to me. Up until Gutsy and the new xvnc4viewer
version, this worked wonderfully and I'd call this a regression.

Now, I can still listen for people who use other VNC servers such as the
UltraVNC server full edition, but not from SC. After some further perusing
into the problem, I have a hunch it may be related to the RFB version of the
server? The feedback I get back at a terminal for a working connection is as
follows:
Mon Jul 2 14:25:18 2007
 CConn:   Accepted connection from 192.168.2.197::3707
CConnection: Server supports RFB protocol version 3.6
CConnection: Using RFB protocol version 3.3

Mon Jul 2 14:25:20 2007
TXImage: Using default colormap and visual, TrueColor, depth 24.
CConn: Using pixel format depth 6 (8bpp) rgb222
 CConn: Using ZRLE encoding

Mon Jul 2 14:25:21 2007
CConn: Throughput 20085 kbit/s - changing to hextile encoding
CConn: Throughput 20085 kbit/s - changing to full colour
 CConn: Using pixel format depth 24 (32bpp) little-endian rgb888
 CConn: Using hextile encoding

Mon Jul 2 14:25:36 2007
 main:End of stream

And for the UltraVNC SC server (which worked in the old vncviewer in feisty), I
get:
Mon Jul 2 14:21:22 2007
 CConn:   Accepted connection from 72.54.229.147::51545
CConnection: Server supports RFB protocol version 3.16
CConnection: Using RFB protocol version 3.8

Mon Jul 2 14:21:44 2007
 main:End of stream

In this case, I made the end of stream happen by ctrl+c. It just sits
and waits for a long long time. I've tried using hextile as the
PreferredEncoding, but that doesn't seem to help either.

[Bug 91834] Re: GNOME/UBUNTU Session Hangs frequently

2007-04-11 Thread DerekBuranen
I have this same bug. Screenshot:
http://picasaweb.google.com/xburnerx/UbuntuLinuxScreenshots/photo#5051839240363084114

To reiterate, this only happens with Gnome regardless of login manager.
I have KDE XFCE installed as well which work just fine from either gdm
or kdm. It happens on two desktops for me, but not my laptop anymore
after a reinstall of Feisty. I've tried to isolate what triggers this
to no avail. I know what doesn't trigger it.

It's not:
*related to nvidia card or binary drivers as I've seen this on an Intel i810
and an ATI Radeon 7500 Mobility using the ati driver
*related to user preferences, as I've created a new user and wiped my ~/.* and
the problem still exists

It must be package related somewhere since when I reinstalled the Feisty Beta
on my desktop, the problem was gone. I tried to be conservative about
installing packages to isolate what caused the issue, but it just came back all
of a sudden and I'm not sure what brought it.

For the record, I have a desktop that only has gnome and xfce which the
problem appears on. I have another desktop with KDE, Xfce, and Gnome
on, but the problem occurred when it was only Gnome.

Here's the real culprit.
 *ping localhost

This command wasn't working. Seems when I upgraded to Feisty and when I
was setting a static IP, I commented EVERYTHING in
/etc/network/interfaces. This is not good as the 'lo' or loopback
device is needed. I uncommented auto lo and the iface line for lo, ran
;sudo ifup lo', and I was back with a fast Gnome and no gray screen in
the corner.

Hope this helps some of you out there. Thanks to seb for the tip.

Still a bug for me.

#copy of my comment from b.g.o

This still happens to me even after doing a rm -rf ~/.* in Ubuntu

Upon editing my /etc/defaults/tmpfs, I find that my SHM was not set at all. I
changed it to 400, restarted my PC and found the same problems.

My ~/.gtkrc-2.0 file is non-existent, but I'm using Human themes and all the

[Bug 66135] The icon applied by default is a .png but .svg is available

2006-10-14 Thread DerekBuranen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mozilla-thunderbird

I dist-upgraded from dapper so it may be an upgrade issue and it may be
involved in the icon-theme package, but I'm not sure it's that as it
effects the application icon or the icon in the taskbar and title.

When I go to change the icon in my menu, by default it's using a
/usr/share/mozilla-thunderbird.png but it should use /usr/share/mozilla-
