[Bug 1016391] Re: phpMyAdmin quits prematurely

2012-09-04 Thread Detlef Lechner
This bug persists in Ubuntu 12.04.1.
I cannot state an algorithm that will definitely lead to the message which
tells that I have exceeded some 1400 odd seconds of inactivity.
It sometimes appears and at other times not. I do not know yet on what factors
that depends. A first impression is that I have to leave this window and return
back to it.

[Bug 1044722] [NEW] Passwords and Encryption Keys Manual is outdated

2012-09-01 Thread Detlef Lechner
Public bug reported:

seahorse > Help Contents F1 > Passwords and Encryption Keys Manual is outdated.

For example Figure 1 shows the Passswords and Encryption keys manual program
window having 4 tabs. This is not true. In Ubuntu 12.04.1 and even in Ubuntu
10.04.4 the program window has only 3 tabs, and there are no "First time
options" on it.

I expect an up-to-date manual and not a manual that is more than 2 years
old and outdated.

[Bug 1031862] [NEW] Remmina sometimes does not show an established SSH connection

2012-08-01 Thread Detlef Lechner
Public bug reported:

Using Remmina, I have established a SSH connection:
'~$ lsof -i; remmina 5835 detlef 16u IPv4 255905 0t0 TCP
noname:39931->T43:ssh (ESTABLISHED)'.
A new window opened titled T43-SSH. But it does not show the T43 prompt. The
main pane is empty (black).
Sometimes the same command will produce the remote prompt too. I do not know
why there is sometimes the prompt missing.

I expect that Remmina will always show the remote prompt after I have
established a SSH connection using Remmina.

2012-07-23 Thread Detlef Lechner
Public bug reported:

alarmclock allows a user to program several alarms whose times may vary from
minutes to several days.
Its program window has a column "Name" to distinguish several programmed
alarms. But this important property is lost when the time of a programmed alarm
is over and alarmclock starts ringing: This entry is erased.
alarmclock does not indicate the name of the current alarm sound.
May a ask to re-program alarmclock in order not to erase this entry but rather
print it bold until the user has clicked on the red square symbol to terminate
this current alarm. This way the user will be reminded what reason caused the
present alarm sound in contrast to the rest programmed alarms.

[Bug 1027836] [NEW] Pomodoro Timer sometimes stops counting down at 05:00 or 15:00 mins

2012-07-23 Thread Detlef Lechner
Public bug reported:

My Pomodoro Timer sometimes stops counting down at 05:00 or 15:00 mins (and
sometimes not). I have not found out why my Pomodoro Timer shows this error
only sometimes.
I usually start my Pomodoro Timer with a Pomodoro Duration of 45 minutes. When
45 minutes have passed by, a message window appears: "Ppomodoro Finished! Take
a break, you have 5 minutes. Hide - Start a new Pomodoro." I usually click on
»Hide«. After 5 minutes, my Pomodoro Timer will usually restart with a value of
45:00. But sometimes not. It sticks to a value 5:00 (or 15:00) ad infinitum.

The stuck values 05:00 or 15:00 mins correspond to Pomodoro Timer's
Short Break Duration or Long Break Duration, respectively.

[Bug 1019209] [NEW] Alarm Clock window sometimes does not show contents

2012-06-29 Thread Detlef Lechner
Public bug reported:

The Alarm Clock window sometimes does not show scheduled alarm entries. The
information pane is plain empty.
I observed this repeatedly. Once it happened after I silenced a current alarm
tone by pressing the red square button, minimizing the window and later
revoking the window by clicking on the »Alarmclock« symbol in the lower right.
I am using Ubuntu 12.04 GNOME Shell 3.4.

[Bug 996732] [NEW] LibreOffice Base 3.5.2.2 freezes when exporting a very large table to a Calc spreadsheet

2012-05-08 Thread Detlef Lechner
Public bug reported:

LibreOffice Base 3.5.2.2 and Calc freeze after ~14 mins when exporting data of
a very large (~100 MB) table from an embedded HSQLDB to a LibreOffice Calc
spreadsheet. For this, I am using the procedure outlined in LibreOffice Help.
I can move the cursor after the LibreOffice freeze though.
Top showed a processor load of 102% on average. Memory usage increased slowly
from ~9% to 14%.
Exporting a small (~10 kB) table works all right though.
For closer analyzing this bug please let me know if I need to install the DEB

or what should I do to support debugging.

- LibreOffice Base 3.5.2.2 and Calc freeze after ~ 14 mins when exporting data
of a very large (~100 MB) table from an embedded HSQLDB to a LibreOffice Calc
spreadsheet.

For closer analyzing this bug please let me know if I need to install the DEB
program package libreoffice-dbg and repeat the export,
or what should I do to support debugging.

[Bug 994959] [NEW] A fatal error SIGSEGV (0xb) occurred when abandoning soffice --base

2012-05-04 Thread Detlef Lechner
Public bug reported:

In a GNOME terminal I had issued the command '~$ soffice --base' and used Base
for at least an hour. During this time I updated my Ubuntu 12.04 using the
UpdateManager. To leave Base I typed Ctrl+C.
I noticed the short appearance of Apport icon and other heavy disturbances on
the screen image. GNOME terminal survived and I was left with these messages:
detlef@T61:~$ soffice --base

[Bug 994753] [NEW] LibreOffice Base Help text is missing icons (regression)

2012-05-04 Thread Detlef Lechner
Public bug reported:

LibreOffice Base Help text does not show icons. Instead, it shows at
each place a rectangle. the rectangle encloses a designator
»vnd.sun.st«. This is a regression as OpenOffice Base in Ubuntu 10.04.4
did not show this bug.

I expect that the LibreOffice Base Help text will show icons just when I
press the Help > LibreOffice Base Help menu item.

[Bug 940820] [NEW] Pidgin 2.6.6: "Available - Waiting for network connection"

2012-02-04 Thread Detlef Lechner
Public bug reported:

In urxvt '~$ audacity' starts the program Audacity. Clicking in the Audacity
program window on "Quick Help" button produces the message: "gvfs-open:
file:///usr/share/audacity/help/manual/quick_help.html: Fehler beim Öffnen des
Ortes: Fehler beim Untersuchen der Datei
/usr/share/audacity/help/manual/quick_help.html mit fstat(): Datei oder
Verzeichnis nicht gefunden."
The directory /usr/share/audacity/help/ does not exist.
I expect that clicking on the "Quick Help" button produces a Quick Help dialog
window.

[Bug 918033] [NEW] Banshee lists lists pieces of music which it cannot play

2012-01-17 Thread Detlef Lechner
Public bug reported:

When I open the Banshee program it lists pieces of music which it cannot play.
It cannot play them because the partition which contains the music is not
mounted. Banshee simply displays contents of its internal database without
checking if Banshee can play these pieces of music. The user is perplexed that
the name of a piece of music is displyed but Banshee cannot play it. He has to
to call the Track Editor > File Size: and look for "-1" to find that the music
partition is not mounted.
I expect that Banshee only shows the names of pieces of music which it actually
can play by pressing the butten »Play current element«. Furthermore I'd
appreciate if Banshee made suggestions as to what could cause that pressing
the button »Play current element« will be futile.

[Bug 912501] [NEW] Banshee uses a delicate OGG decoder

2012-01-05 Thread Detlef Lechner
Public bug reported:

I downloaded an Ogg Vorbis [AO; aoTUV b4b 20051117] based on Xiph.Org's
libVorbis)]: 104 kbps, 44100 Hz, stereo audio radio stream. Banshee does not
play this file correctly: It has drop-outs of rather long durations (longer
than 100 ms) while Audacious plays this file without objections.
I expect that Banshee will use a similar robust OGG decoder as Audacious.

[Bug 909091] [NEW] Banshee Streamrecorder does not show a red record button

2011-12-27 Thread Detlef Lechner
Public bug reported:

http://www.gitorious.org/banshee-community-extensions/pages/StreamRecorderUserGuide
states that "after installation and activation there is a red record button."

Guide statement.

When I tried to launch a bug report, a dialog did pop up asking for a choice
on what to report the issue on. I answered that I suppose that the banshee
interface is the culprit.
I suppose that the apport UI is runing under gobject-introspection, and that
path imports static bindings for gconf/glib, which is causing a crash.

[Bug 902739] [NEW] Response message after importing a directory's content disappears too fast

2011-12-11 Thread Detlef Lechner
Public bug reported:

In Banshee 2.2.1 clicking Media > Import Media > (Import Media into the
library) (Import of:) > Directory > Select directory > abc > Import produces in
the lower left a message window for only a glimpse of time: "10 files imported"
(or similar). Then the message disappears rapidly.
The appearance time of this message window needs to be prolonged in order to be
readable conveniently.
I presume that the programmer has not built in a delay but closes the message
window as soon as the presumed import action is finished.

[Bug 902134] [NEW] k3b: "Device in use - It is urged to terminate the program gvfsd-cdda before proceeding."

2011-12-09 Thread Detlef Lechner
Public bug reported:

k3b: "Device in use - It is urged to terminate the program gvfsd-cdda before
proceeding."
I consider this inacceptable. I did not start "the program" gvfsd-cdda. All I
have done is starting my comuter, inserted a CD and started K3b in order to rip
this CD. It is not the obligation to terminate some obscure program, which the
user did not start, just to be able to rip the CD which he has inserted.
Rather, this is the obligation of the program K3b itself.
There are other users who have the same problem as me:
http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-839853.html.

[Bug 883443] Re: GNOME Shell 3.2.0 falsely states: "Network Disconnected - you are now offline"

2011-10-29 Thread Detlef Lechner
I suspect that GNOME Shell muddeled "Network" and "WLAN".

[Bug 883443] [NEW] GNOME Shell 3.2.0 falsely states: "Network Disconnected - you are now offline"

2011-10-29 Thread Detlef Lechner
Public bug reported:

GNOME Shell 3.2.0 falsely reports in the bottom middle for more than 30
minutes: "Network Disconnected - you are now offline".
The contrary is true: I am online and I can connect to an arbitrary Internet
address web site via Firefox.
I expect that GNOME Shell does not make this false notification.
