Seems to be a problem on 8.10 server as well. Get the same error message
as above. Any possible work arounds?

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

The upgrade aborts now. Your system could be in an unusable state. A
recovery will run now (dpkg --configure -a).

Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and
include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bugreport.

I forgot: I did a system update with apt-get update apt-get upgrade
before I ran the dist-upgrade, so all packages were up-to-date.

It looks like 0.2.14 is in the edgy backports now!

But the build failed:

Can anyone have a look at it?
Seems to be a dependency problem.

[Bug 64326] Re: beagled-helper loads CPU

2007-01-27 Thread Dieter Komendera
Yeah, the release notes from 0.2.15 sound good!
Some parts:

* Many memory usage improvements, especially with IMAP accounts in the
Evolution mail backend and when doing queries.

* A rewritten and massively improved RTF filter.

* The MS Word filter has been moved into an external process,
  improving service reliability tremendously.

* Dozens of improvements to the filter code(...)

[Bug 74141] Re: Error:500 Cant connect to www.google.com: 443 (bad hostname)

2006-12-16 Thread Dieter Komendera
This bug is fixed in the current version 0.10.1 which is already in Feisty.
I downloaded the feisty package and installed it on my Edgy. I had no
dependency problems.

Here is the changelog for the new checkgmail version:
https://sourceforge.net/project/shownotes.php?group_id=137480release_id=459054

I'd like to see a backport to Edgy for the new version, because the bug
is really annoying and causes the cpu running on 100% until there is a
network connection available.

[Bug 62768] Re: Very bad performance with X600 in Edgy

2006-09-30 Thread Dieter Komendera
I asked for help in the ubuntu forums:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=267836

As suggested there, in addition to he options I already added, I put these also
into my xorg.conf
Option DRI true
Option ColorTiling on
Option EnablePageFlip true
Option AccelMethod EXA

So my device section looks like that:

Section Device
Identifier ATI Technologies, Inc. M24 1P [Radeon Mobility X600]
Driver radeon
BusID PCI:1:0:0
Option NoAccel false
Option AGPMode 8
Option AGPFastWrite on
Option DRI true
Option ColorTiling on
Option EnablePageFlip true
Option AccelMethod EXA
EndSection

With this config everything works well!

[Bug 62768] Very bad performance with X600 in Edgy

2006-09-28 Thread Dieter Komendera
Public bug reported:

The performance of my video card is very bad with edgy. I've all updates
installed.
My notebook: HP Compaq nc8230 with a 2.1 GHz Intel and 1 GB RAM.

Problems:
When I have to enter my password for administrator rights, the fade to the grey
screen isn't smooth at all. Or scrolling on a website with firefox is very very
slow. When I minimize or maximize a window, the rendering is also very slow.
With latest Dapper I hadn't these problems!
The CPU usage of xorg often goes up to 90 or even 100 %

I tried to use this device section in xorg.conf:
Section Device
Identifier ATI Technologies, Inc. M24 1P [Radeon Mobility X600]
Driver radeon
BusID PCI:1:0:0
Option NoAccel false
Option AGPMode 8
Option AGPFastWrite on
EndSection
But the performance didn't get better.

If you need addtional information, please tell me.

[Bug 35601] Re: [X600] Black screen with DRI

I have a HP compaq nc8230 notebook with an ATI X600. More hardwarespecs:
http://people.freedesktop.org/~jg/nc8230/

Knot 3 installed and runs without any major problems usting the ati driver from
xorg.
From the Device Section in xorg.conf:
ATI Technologies, Inc. M24 1P [Radeon Mobility X600]

I've only some speed issues (e.g in Google Spreadsheets with Firefox),
but I don't know if that has something todo with the graphic card
driver.
