[Bug 2072157] [NEW] Pointer speed changes everytime after suspend

2024-07-04 Thread Diogo
Public bug reported:

Every time I log back in after suspension, the speed of the pointer changes.
What changes is not the slow-fast setting in the "pointer speed" bar but the
actual speed of the pointer. I am using a Lenovo Nano laptop and the trackpoint
in the keyboard to control the pointer, with the touchpad deactivated.

[Bug 1958191] Re: [i915] Screen flickering in Ubuntu 22.04 (until i915.enable_dc=0 intel_idle.max_cstate=2 are added)

2022-05-11 Thread Diogo Duarte
Following up on this:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1958191/comments/16

Booting with 5.15.0-25-generic and the i915.enable_dc=0
intel_idle.max_cstate=2 configs seems to fix the issue on my hardware.

5.15.0-27-generic won't stop shaking randomly no matter what value I
test on intel_idle.max_cstate. It seems to get worse when there are many
windows on the screen or something is zoomed in/out. For example, on
shopping sites like aliexpress, hovering with the mouse on the product
normally spawns this window with the zoomed product, I noticed that this
caused a lot of shaking. Reading stuff, especially with images seems to
cause it more regularly as well. However, watching videos was fine all
the time.

I can also confirm that the kernel 5.13.0-20-generic works without an
issue with the same hardware as some of my work colleagues have the same
machine running Ubuntu 21.10 with that kernel.

[Bug 1958191] Re: [i915] Screen flickering in Ubuntu 22.04 (until i915.enable_dc=0 intel_idle.max_cstate=2 are added)

2022-05-08 Thread Diogo Duarte
I'm having the same issue, I'd like to add that I've tested both Xubuntu
22.04 and Ubuntu 22.04 and was able to reproduce the same error. Now I'm
running Kubuntu 22.04 with the following spec:

OS: Kubuntu 22.04 LTS x86_64
Kernel: 5.15.0-27-generic
Shell: bash 5.1.16
Resolution: 1920x1080 @ 120Hz
DE: KDE Plasma 5.24.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.93.0
WN: Kwin 5.24.5
Qt Version: 5.15.3
Graphics Platform: X11

Host: GL62 6QF REV:1.0
CPU: Intel i5-6300HQ (4) @ 3.200GHz
GPU: Mesa Intel® HD Graphics 530
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M

Here's another video of the issue: https://streamable.com/b9792p

PS: I added GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash i915.enable_dc=0
intel_idle.max_cstate=2" to /etc/default/grub and I still have some
instances of screen shaking.

[Bug 1875106] Re: System irresponsive after 2-finger horizontal scroll over dock

2020-05-01 Thread Diogo
The requested log file follows attached. The steps I followed were: 1 -
reboot the system, 2 - start IMWheel (open terminal and manually running
the command "imwheel"), 3 - two finger scrolling over the side dock (to
reproduce the bug), 4 - lock/unlock screen and restart gnome-shell
("Alt+F2 r") (to regain control of the system), 5 - dumping 'journalctl
-b 0' to the attached file.

In my system, disabling IMWheel

[Bug 1875106] [NEW] System irresponsive after 2-finger horizontal scroll over dock

2020-04-25 Thread Diogo Pernes
Public bug reported:

If I do a two-finger horizontal scrolling on top of the dock/sidebar,
the system becomes almost completely irresponsive: no response to
keyboard, only the mouse cursor moves, but clicking anywhere has no
effect. I have to close the laptop lid to force suspend, so I can
control the system again.

[Bug 1717486] Re: icons missing after 2 fingers/horizontal scrolling on the dock

2020-04-25 Thread Diogo Pernes
The issue seems to be even worse in Ubuntu 20.04 LTS. A two-finger
horizontal scroll on the dock will make the system (almost)
irresponsive: no response to keyboard, only the mouse cursor moves, but
clicking anywhere has no effect. Icons on the dock do not disappear
anymore, though. I have to close the laptop lid to force suspend so I
can control the system again.

[Bug 1786922] Re: Unity keyboard shortcuts stopped working after update

2018-08-15 Thread Diogo Miguel Constantino dos Santos
After searching on the web, I've found the information that this may
have been caused by compiz deactivating plugins. So I suspect that it
has deactivated: 'desktop wall' and 'grid'.

I've enabled them back and this seams to restore functionality. Can
someone confirms me the cause andd the solution?

If the cause was this, how can I find the issue that led compiz to do
this?

[Bug 1786922] [NEW] Unity keyboard shortcuts stopped working after update

2018-08-14 Thread Diogo Miguel Constantino dos Santos
Public bug reported:

After running the latest updates on 16.04, Unity keyboard shortcuts stopped
working.
Examples of shortcuts that stopped working:
 * move window to a workspace other workspaces (shift + ctrl + alt + arrow key)
 * move to workspace (ctrl + alt + arrow)
 * make windows stick to edges (ctrl + super + arrow keys)

This breaks my workflow and renders Unity much less usable :(

It's not possible use this workaround because the version 18.04 not
contains any driver to select in the settings.

---

> WORKAROUND: Use PPA from https://launchpad.net/~oibaf/+archive/ubuntu
/graphics-drivers

This workaround dos not work on version 18.04. I have the same random
freeze/crash after using it.

---

> To clarify, after the freeze/crash, are there crash files in
/var/crash?

No, there isn't any files in this location.

---

> Could you please advise when the freeze/crash happens?

It is random.

---

> To clarify, if you use the proprietary nvidia drivers, does the
computer still freeze/crash?

In version 18.04 is not possible choose any drivers.

---

Updated all new logs and photo with prefix 18.04.

Christopher M. Penalver, please tell me if you need more information.

Thank you

[Bug 1746638] Re: [GeForce 6150SE nForce 430] PC freezes and crashes

2018-04-28 Thread Diogo Gomes
Christopher M. Penalver,

Apologize me, I was just following your past indications that it can be
confirmed after tested on 18.04 and answer at your previous question
like you can confirm.

2) Should I remove the old but equal logs of 16.04 and replace with the
new ones of 18.04?

3) I'm talking about the same issue and same screen, do you need a
screenshot equal to the older one?

Thank you for your time

There are suggestion that one should add 'nomodeset' to the kernel
(/etc/default/grub)
would this be the solution for now?

[Bug 1746638] Re: [GeForce 6150SE nForce 430] PC freezes and crashes

2018-02-14 Thread Diogo Gomes
Christopher M. Penalver,

I have not had availability to test version 18.04 on a new disc but I
have more information:

- After updating the packages xorg-serverhwe... I decided to test
the Open Source drivers again and got improvements.

- Due to these improvements and to the system crashing less, I detected
a pattern in the crashes. It may not be related but crashes usually
happen when I adjust the size of a window manually.

I'll let you know as soon as I have more information.

Once again, it's impossible capture before reboot. The system crashes
tottally.

> In addition, because you haven't tested latest packages and then provide
> useful logs, upstream developers aren't going to be focusing on your issue.
> Some log you grabbed years ago from an old distro isn't useful.
I tested in live and crashes and do not stored any logs, it's the reason why I
didn't upload. I can't do it in a production machine.

> Some log you grabbed years ago from an old distro isn't useful.
I can upload the new if you want, it's same information.

> you may be holding your breath for a fix that never happens
It's disappointing and unprofessional because I already said that I can't use
the system when it crashes
