[Bug 84899] Re: SSH with GSSAPIAuthentication option on SSH servers are very slow

2011-10-27 Thread Dmitriy Kropivnitskiy
It has been 4 years. The only reason to have GSSAPIAuthentication option
on is if you are running a Kerberos setup. Who the hell runs Kerberos
nowadays anyway. Can we have this finally set to off by default or will
it take another 4 years? This is disrupting an important service by
switching on an obscure authentication option. What gives?

[Bug 281732] Re: Mute button not properly working on current Lenovo Thinkpads x200/x200s , t400/t500, X300/X301, W series

2010-09-30 Thread Dmitriy Kropivnitskiy
Confirming this bug on an R400 running Maverick. The xev still doesn't
report anything when pressing Mute button. The Volume Up/Down buttons
work fine and show the OSD volume change. The mute button mutes, but the
muteness doesn't register with the mixer applet or anything else, except
that the mute state is noted in /proc/acpi/ibm/volume. It doesn't
unmute, to unmute a volume up/down button needs to be pressed.

While I understand that telling ACPI that Linux is not Windows might
lead to side effects, I am not sure pretending to be Windows is a good
policy in the long run. Wouldn't this make kernel vulnerable to
potential incompatibility bugs? Why does upstream insist on doing it
this way?

I don't understand the argument about not letting Mute key events into
user space. Why not? I understand it is already operating on BIOS mixer,
but something needs to react to this by updating user interface. How is
it supposed to work, check the BIOS mixer state all the time?

[Bug 111553] Re: Long delays on SSH login from an Ubuntu system

2007-07-19 Thread Dmitriy Kropivnitskiy
Read the original bug report. It clearly states that we are talking
about logging FROM a Feisty system into a generic (different distro's or
even OSs) server. Seems like default SSH client config is trying to use
kerberos and kerberos is not configured in any way by default

[Bug 111553] Long delays on SSH login from an Ubuntu system

2007-05-01 Thread Dmitriy Kropivnitskiy
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openssh-client

When trying to SSH from a freshly installed and updated Feisty system,
there is a delay of several seconds (like 5-10) before the login goes
through. After the login goes through all the rest of the operation is
normal. I have tried to login into different systems including RHEL4,
CentOS 4 and FreeBSD with the same result. Using -vvv switch to SSH I
have found the following: (pasting only relevant part of the log):

debug1: identity file /home/jeld/.ssh/id_dsa type 2
debug1: Remote protocol version 2.0, remote software version OpenSSH_3.9p1
debug1: match: OpenSSH_3.9p1 pat OpenSSH_3.*
debug1: Enabling compatibility mode for protocol 2.0

debug2: fd 3 setting O_NONBLOCK
debug1: Miscellaneous failure
Improper format of Kerberos configuration file

debug1: Miscellaneous failure
Improper format of Kerberos configuration file

debug1: Miscellaneous failure

debug1: Miscellaneous failure

debug2: kex_parse_kexinit:
diffie-hellman-group-exchange-sha1,diffie-hellman-group14-sha1,diffie-hellman-group1-sha1

I have installed krb5-config and the problem went away. I suppose the
solution would be to either include krb5-config with the main install,
so there is a minimal config file, or recompile SSH without kerberos
support.

I don't know how this ended up in dapper. I was reasonably sure, that
when I was filing it I was filing under edgy. This bug is for edgy. It
also says that it was initially uploaded to Edgy. WTF? And I don't know
why someone marked it related to firefox. I have to say that launchpad
interface is extremely confusing. In any case, on my relatively standard
system, latest Edgy kernel doesn't boot. If you don't want bug reports,
just say so.

why it still works despite the change in naming. Is that one of the

I get the same thing. Without the quiet flag, I can see that the kernel
