[Bug 1479322] Re: Acer Aspire M5 481T consuming power while turned off! Battery drains with system halted!

2016-07-08 Thread Dngrsone
I used this site to disable WOL before shutdown:
http://www.hecticgeek.com/2012/09/disabling-wake-on-lan-in-ubuntu-might-
save-a-tiny-bit-of-power-on-your-laptop/

This did not work.

I lose about 1% battery an hour when shutting the machine down from
Linux. WOL is off in UEFI, and Windows shutdown works the way it
should.

My machine uses a Radeon R9 M265X graphics chip, so I'm not sure it's
only a video driver issue.

[Bug 1479322] Re: Acer Aspire M5 481T consuming power while turned off! Battery drains with system halted!

2016-06-28 Thread Dngrsone
Running Mint 17.3 KDE on a Toshiba P55t-B5154 dual-boot with Windows 10.
If I shut down the laptop from Windows, the battery remains 100% when I
power up in the morning. If I shut down from Mint, the battery is
drained sometimes to 70%depending on time between power-down and power
up.

[Bug 1398971] Re: [SATELLITE P50t-B-112, Realtek ALC284, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all

2015-05-07 Thread Dngrsone
Same problem with Toshiba Satellite P55t-B5154 running Mint 17 KDE
(64-bit).

Fernando's fix worked for me as well.

Ron, I think the keyboard volume control problem is separate. For the
past month (since I installed Mint on this laptop) I have not had sound,
so I cannot say anything about the volume controls, however, I have
noticed that the Screen Brightness keyboard controls are intermittent.
I believe my backlighting control is as well.

There is a Bug report here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/1302885

Don't know if it is related to mine, since I am running KDE, but there
you go.

[Bug 875878] Re: Easymp3gain Hangs when clicking Add File or Add Folder

2012-11-22 Thread Dngrsone
Still broken in Precise 64-bit, however, got it to work by doing the
following:

download the .deb from:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/easymp3gain/

if installed, deinstall easymp3gain:

sudo apt-get remove easymp3gain-gtk

install the downloaded package:

go to the download dir, normally Downloads:

cd Downloads

sudo dpkg -i easymp3gain-gtk2_0.5.0-2_i386.deb

After this, there were dependancy issues, so I did this:

sudo apt-get -f install

That fixed everything, and I am currently analyzing my music...

Thanks, Sander (comment #9), for the fix!

[Bug 1031192] Re: unity no longer allows separate launcher icons per firefox profile

2012-10-31 Thread Dngrsone
Thank you, Mihai!

I have confirmed it works in Firefox v 17 on Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit.
Here is an example of the working launcher code:

[Desktop Entry]
Version=1.0
Type=Application
Terminal=false
Icon[en_US]=/home/dngrsone/.icons/Daily.gif
Name[en_US]=Daily
Exec=firefox -no-remote --class Daily -P Daily
Name=Daily
Icon=/home/dngrsone/.icons/Daily.gif

would like this behaviour?

Okay, booted ubuntu-12.04-desktop-amd64.iso from a USB drive; Rhythmbox
still does not recognize a CD (in this case Limp Bizkit Hitz,
recognnized by Banshee).

I uninstalled Rhythmbox, rebooted the machine and reinstalled, still not
happy. I will download a fresh 12.04 .iso and see if it works any
better...

[Bug 787475] Re: Rhythmbox [0.12.8] [0.12.5] Not Fetching Album Information From MusicBrainz

2012-05-22 Thread Dngrsone
I have tried several CDs, several different times.

I am running Ubuntu-desktop-12.04-amd64 (originally beta2) on an HP G72
laptop with Intel dual-core T4500 processor and 8GB RAM.

Picard detects CDs just fine (CD under test, 4 Non Blondes), but
Rhythmbox cannot detect (Rhythmbox v 2.96).

When I installed 12.04beta2 in early April, I had installed and tried
using Banshee but that program was a frequent crasher, so I went back to
Rhythmbox. If Banshee is more stable now and will detect CDs, then I
will go to it (I prefer Banshee, actually). At the moment, I have to
resort to booting into Win7 just to rip my music.

[Bug 993265] Re: Wine breaks window decorations for all applications

It also happens with ExpressSCH running in Wine 1.5.3 on 12.04-desktop-
amd64.

BTW, you can hit ALT+F2 and type in unity --replace to restore your
decorations for a while.

[Bug 992023] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 USB problem on Msi u270

2012-05-01 Thread Dngrsone
I can confirm-- running Ubuntu 12.04-desktop-amd64 (installed as beta2)
on an HP G72 laptop. Wireless mouse works fine, but inserting a USB
drive into the slot sometimes causes nothing to happen-- drive
indicators don't light, and the OS doesn't see it.

If I reboot the machine, everything works fine.

[Bug 636711] Re: 10.10 can't mount squashfs file system

2011-04-29 Thread Dngrsone
I have this problem with ubuntu-11.04-desktop-amd64.iso and
ubuntu-11.04-desktop-i386.iso downloaded from both the main site and
torrent.

MD5 checksums match. Content burned to CD-R using Brasero through
Ubuntu 10.4-desktop-amd64 on an HP Pavilion DV4 (DV4-1200US) which is
what I was trying to load the live disc on.

With both Operating Systems the live OS could not be loaded and the
CDROM won't read afterword-- I have to eject the CD and reinsert it (or
completely turn off the laptop) if I want to try booting off the CD
again.
