[Bug 695723] Re: ata_id crashed with SIGSEGV in main() when inserting a data CD

2010-12-31 Thread Don Cristóbal
Hmmm. I think we'll have to close this as invalid. I don't have that CD
any more and other CDs don't cause the crash. However, there will be
another misbehaviour to report: When ejecting CDs manually (pushing the
button on the CD drive), they don't seem to get unmounted properly.
Folders still display but files are not there (obviously). I'll file a
separate report.

I have the same bug on Xubuntu 11.04 alpha1. The weirdest thing is: Even
though the CD is ejected, its folder structure is still accessible (both
in Thunar and from the terminal, so it can't be a Thunar-specific cache
problem). However, trying to open files results in an I/O error.

[Bug 696068] [NEW] Notification area shrinking on Xfce panel (Xubuntu 11.04 alpha1)

2010-12-31 Thread Don Cristóbal
Public bug reported:

For some days now, the notification area has been too small compared with the
panel size. Icons are only partially visible because they don't fit in any
more.

2010-12-31 Thread Don Cristóbal
New evidence. nm-applet crashed (or disappeared for some other
reason...). It's the icon with the red dot in the newest screenshot.
When I restarted nm-applet from the terminal, the icons shrank. They
/don't/ grow bigger again when killing nm-applet.

For the newest screenshot I've activated the border around the
notification area in order to improve its visibility.

[Bug 696068] Re: Notification area shrinking on Xfce panel (Xubuntu 11.04 alpha1)

2010-12-31 Thread Don Cristóbal
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: xfce4-panel

more.
- I'm not absolutely sure, but I feel it's shrinking progressively. I'll reboot
to see if it gets even smaller, then report again. Cf. the attached screenshot.
+ Notification area icons are shrunken when new icons appear (this, in
+ itself seems to be a bug, as I would expect the width of the area to
+ increase instead); when the new icons disappear again, all icons stay
+ the smaller size so that there will be more and more empty space in the
+ area. Icons get progressively illegible.
+
+ In order to reproduce the bug:
+ 1. Make any notification icon appear, e.g. open Thunar and copy a relatively
large amount of data from one place to another. The «file operation» icon will
appear, all icons will shrink, and when Thunar is done copying, the new icon
will disappear and leave the others behind.
+ 2. Repeat step 1 as many times as you like. Icons will get smaller each time.

[Bug 696068] Re: Icons in notification area shrinking on Xfce panel (Xubuntu 11.04 alpha1)

2011-01-01 Thread Don Cristóbal
New discovery: Not all temporary icons cause the behaviour as described
above (I'll call it behaviour A).

Some make the icons shrink just for a very short moment when appearing,
then they grow again. If they appear directly after loggin in, when
icons are their correct size, they even grow bigger than that (I'll call
that behaviour B).

See the many new attachments that illustrate the following procedure:
- After login: Everything is fine.
- Opening Gigolo: icons shrink for half a second and then grow bigger than
before.
- Closing Gigolo: icons still too big
- Opening Orage: icons still too big
- Closing Orage: icons still too big
- While copying a lot of data: icons shrink, this time to their original size
- After copying: icons shrink more, empty space starts spreading.

What I could test:
package manager working: B
file operation: A
Gigolo: B
Orage: B

Maybe only file operations have behaviour A, I don't know.

[Bug 696734] [NEW] Auto-completion reacts too automatically (resulting in things like "firefoxrefox")

2011-01-03 Thread Don Cristóbal
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xfce4-utils

When I hit Alt-F2 and type one of my recently used commands (e.g. "firefox"),
the auto completion mechanism reacts too quickly and I get something like
"firefoxrefox" instead: after the first 1-2 characters, it recognises the
command and completes it - while I'm still typing. That's not what I'd expect.

Correct behaviour should be something like this: Suggest possible commands in a
dropdown list, but don't auto-complete them automatically. Wait for the tab or
cursor down keys to select an entry. Just like the address bar of firefox for
instance.

[Bug 697280] Re: evince crashed with SIGSEGV in ev_pixbuf_cache_set_selection_list()

2011-01-09 Thread Don Cristóbal
Charlie: No, I can't reliably reproduce this, and I can't give clear
information on what I was doing to cause the crash. There were several
opened pdf files (like the one here:
http://www.admin.ch/ch/d/sr/c142_20.html I don't know exactly which,
directly opened from Firefox) and when I switched back to evince from
another application, evince crashed. That might confirm what Chrescht
guesses about the automatic refreshing of displayed pdf files.

I don't know if under these circumstances you'll want to keep the bug
report open.
