Re: [Bug 1951098] Re: When screen is locked the top bar with apps shows
Hi, Thanks for the response. After removing extensions, logout/login and than lock screen: - I see info about ethernet, wifi, bluetooth, battery, nightlight- I can operate sound level and suspend computer After putting back extensions dir, not enabling custom extensions, logout/login and than lock screen, on top of that: - I see live patch icon and can click settings (only see launched settings after logging in)- I see and can operate tuxedo control centre (launched windows I only see after logging in) After enabling custom extensions again, logout/login and than lock screen: - same as above So perhaps only live patch is an issue that belongs here, but that's not something I can judge. By the way I run wayland. [Bug 1935734] Re: nautilus can't open folder as root
I can confirm that I am experiencing this issue now with my Ubuntu Hirsute installation in VirtualBox. I just ran all package updates it after not using this VM for a while. After this I noticed it, because I wanted to do root access actions using GNOME Nautilus. Not so long ago I had this same issue under XFCE on Arch Linux too, but that one got eventually fixed by updates, most likely including GVFS or something related. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1935734 Title: nautilus can't open folder as root To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1935734/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1921632] Re: build module CONFIG_SND_SOC_INTEL_SOUNDWIRE_SOF_MACH=m for 5.11, 5.13-rc2 and later
Alright, testing the kernel 5.11.0-20 right now (I didn't realize that it was available already, because somehow it didn't show up as an automatic update anymore when having proposed updates enabled). For me, also working with XPS 9700, the kernel works, but only the 5.11.0-20-lowlatency without issues. Both the WIFI ath11k issue and the Soundwire issue are solved for me. But 5.11.0-20-generic does not load the GUI, only a blinking cursor on a black screen. :( When I boot the kernel from GRUB without the "quit" and "splash" parameters, I see the full kernel and systemd outputs. With Ctrl+Alt+F* I can also switch to terminals and just login to a terminal. So I suspect there is an issue with the NVIDIA driver and this kernel. So I think something needs to be fixed with that. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1921632 Title: build module CONFIG_SND_SOC_INTEL_SOUNDWIRE_SOF_MACH=m for 5.11, 5.13-rc2 and later To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1921632/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1807499] Re: 30 seconds boot delay when root fs is on lvm
A the moment I can see following solutions: (1) Make the lvchange_activate function in /usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts/local-top/lvm2 a while loop which executes the "lvchange" command repeatedly until the root LV appears (2) Utilize udevd to create the LV devices while wait-for-root is waiting for the root LV to appear. A hack for doing so is to replace in /lib/udev/rules.d/69-lvm-metad.rules the line 96 ACTION!="remove", ENV{LVM_PV_GONE}=="1", RUN+="/bin/systemd-run /sbin/lvm pvscan --cache $major:$minor --activate ay", GOTO="lvm_end" with ACTION!="remove", RUN+="/sbin/lvm pvscan --cache $major:$minor --activate ay" -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1807499 Title: 30 seconds boot delay when root fs is on lvm To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lvm2/+bug/1807499/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1807499] [NEW] 30 seconds boot delay when root fs is on lvm
Public bug reported: On my system the root filesystem is located on a logical volume. I have constant boot delay of 30 seconds. My current conclusion is that this problem exists due to lvm performing the initramfs-tools local-top initialization incorrectly. According to initramfs-tools(8): local-top OR nfs-top After these scripts have been executed, the root device node is expected to be present (local) or the network interface is expected to be usable (NFS). But what /usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts/local-top/lvm2 is simply try to activate the requested root volume by means of scanning the (at that moment) available block devices. What happens on my system is that local-top/lvm2 is executed before the pv block device (SATA-SSD) shows up. Then initramfs-tools calls the wait-for-root executable which waits for the root device node notification via udev. This has a (minimum) timeout of 30 seconds configured. This timeout is exceeded since nothing will make the root volume device to be created. Then later (I guess in local-block) the root volume device is created (since the pv is available). ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 18.04 Package: lvm2 2.02.176-4.1ubuntu3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.15.0-42.45-generic 4.15.18 Uname: Linux 4.15.0-42-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.9-0ubuntu7.5 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Sat Dec 8 13:52:06 2018 ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm-256color PATH=(custom, no user) XDG_RUNTIME_DIR= LANG=de_AT.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: lvm2 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: lvm2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug bionic -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1807499 Title: 30 seconds boot delay when root fs is on lvm To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lvm2/+bug/1807499/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1728012] Re: Many 3rd party scanner drivers are broken by a sane change
For the record. My scanner Epson Workforve WF-7610 was not recognized by iscan yet xsane recognized it. sudo -u saned scanimage -L returned device `epson2:net:192.168.1.30' is a Epson PID 08B9 flatbed scanner but it did not work. [Bug 1735363] Re: inkscape: Port to Python 3
One thing we'd need to consider is that some more or less basic Inkscape functionality currently relies on Python extensions, e.g. - Several templates - Help links although I already wondered if this was even really necessary - I assume there are better solutions available to open a link from GTK - Export/Import extensions They are not strictly Inkscape core but a lot of users are not aware they might be running an extension to export to their favorite format. Second important questions is if this would only affect packaging or if we really want to split out the extension code from the Inkscape source repository into a more or less self sufficient sub-project. In the latter case I fear that the bundled extensions - which are in a pretty desolate state even now - might bit-rot even faster (less users, less developers having the repo on their radar, less obvious affiliation with the core program). If we could achieve to make the extensions into a "community project" (that is a lot more user driven, allowing easy contributions and additions of new extensions with well-organized categorization and documentation) that could also improve upon the status-quo but as a start this would require a "core team" of people who would be willing to do the necessary maintenance (not sure we have that right now...). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1735363 Title: inkscape: Port to Python 3 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1735363/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1417470] Re: PDF+Latex export creates multipage pdf, pages missing
As the previous fix only worked around the issue by adding blank pages to the output I had another shot at fixing this. I created a merge request with a "proper" fix that actually outputs partial renderings of the final document which can then be stacked in the LaTeX document with the text sandwiched in between, see https://gitlab.com/inkscape/inkscape/merge_requests/135 As the renderer (especially the hack we use to make PDF+LaTeX work) is a fragile thing and I'm not too familiar with it yet this requires a lot of testing. I'd appreciate if you could check with your own samples if Inkscape produces proper output. [Bug 1724639] Re: Graphics problem - 80% of the Left hand side of screen solid black
@kaihengfeng; I have tried both kernels you proposed, and can confirm what has been stated in the opensuse-Forum: Both Kernels 4.11 and 4.12 SEEM to be working and show no graphic glitches. So the first idea would be that something happend within the Kernel transition from 4.12 to 4.13, , but not too easy. Trying to open differnet Applications with 4.12 shows that there is already something fishy going on with the graphics, e.g. LibreOffice will not start with Kernel 4.12 and I believe it must have to do with the graphics. This is in accordance with the errors / logs / exceptions posted in the opensuse bug-report. So for Computers / Laptops / Netbooks using the Intel Mobile 945 Chipsets and Ubuntu 17.10, I would personally recommend the 4.11 Kernel, for I found it to be most stable and all applications I have tested so far do work. I can help with logs and dmesg if needed, please just tell me what logs you need. For everyone who has this error, I will show you a workaround so you can still use your computer even after the update to 17.10. The workaround consists of installing kernel 4.11 and using it. Enter Grub (which is the startup manager) by holding down the shift key while booting. If you have Grub showing up on every boot (e.g. if you have a multi OS and also have Win 7/8/10) installed, even better. Now select Ubuntu ... enhanced options and then select starting up with the 4.10 Kernel (which still should be installed if you have updated from 17.04). If the option to start up with the 4.10 kernel is not available, select recovery mode (which should also work fine, but you have to work with a low resolution then) In the 4.10 Ubuntu (recovery mode) open your browser and go to this directory: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.11/ under "Build for i386 succeeded" download these 3 files: linux-headers-4.11.0-041100_4.11.0-041100.201705041534_all.deb linux-headers-4.11.0-041100-generic_4.11.0-041100.201705041534_i386.deb linux-image-4.11.0-041100-generic_4.11.0-041100.201705041534_i386.deb After the download, put those 3 Files in a new, seperate folder, and open the directory with the terminal (right click on the folder --> open in Terminal). In the Terminal post: sudo dpkg -i *.deb Press enter and wait. The 4.11 Kernel will be installed, it takes a while. After that, you can reboot your computer and in Grub in the enhanced options you can now start your computer with the 4.11 generic kernel, which works fine for me. If you want Ubuntu to start up everytime with the 4.11 Kernel, you can use the "Grub Customzier" for that. Here is how you install the grub customizer: http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2014/04/install-grub-customizer- ubuntu-1404/ Let's hope that someone in this Linux world can make the Intel Mobile Graphics card work again in a de-bugged 4.13 kernel =) Cheers and Kudos everyone ! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1724639 Title: Graphics problem - 80% of the Left hand side of screen solid black To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1724639/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1724639] Re: Graphics problem - 80% of the Left hand side of screen solid black
I can confirm the bug too. After the Xubuntu update from 17.04 to 17.10, the intel mobile graphics is broken. Moreover, the issue seems to be a little bigger. The bug here is the same one as bug #1720703 , so Mods please merge the two bugs. (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-mate/+bug/1720703) It seems to have nothing to do with the Ubuntu distro, as is is present in Ubuntu Mate, Ubuntu, Lubuntu und Xubuntu, all Versions 17.10 -- > so this indicates that it is Kernel 4.13 related. And it seems to affect other distros as well. The bug also affects OpenSuse, with Kernel 4.13: https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1058870 So there seems to be something wrong with Kernel 4.13 with the Intel Graphics 945. In the openSUSE Bug Report, users state that Kernels 4.11 and 4.12 are still working. I will test that right now and report back. Thank you Community for all the efforts. ** Bug watch added: bugzilla.opensuse.org/ #1058870 https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1058870 ** Attachment added: "Photo of Graphics error." https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1724639/+attachment/4984307/+files/IMG_20171021_232347.jpg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1724639 Title: Graphics problem - 80% of the Left hand side of screen solid black To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1724639/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1220472] Re: USA keyboard layout - ctrl + z and ctrl + y replaced
Is this still and issue? Just tried on Windows 10 with both - Inkscape 0.92.2pre0 (973e216, 2017-07-25) and - Inkscape 0.92+devel (48344d68f8, 2017-07-29) and actually Ctrl+Z/Y is switched when I switch from German to English keyboard layout. Now - there might be differences between Windows and Linux - Inkscape is actually supposed to behave like described initially but (in the scope of this bug) I can't reproduce it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1220472 Title: USA keyboard layout - ctrl + z and ctrl + y replaced To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1220472/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
