the sources, you see the MEMORY usage going up.

AHAHAHAH :) After a closer look the final bug is actually valid !

Can you please remove the hackish patch for cr.reset_clip() in the

2010-05-06 Thread Edward Hervey (bilboed)
All those issues (because there are more than one in this report) either
already exist in upstream bugtracker or aren't really bugs:
* Youtube not accepting theora 1.1 : their problem, not ours. You seem to have
found a format that works.
* Having a optimised for youtube rendering format : since we don't control
what youtube uses on any given day... there isn't much we can do (at least with
free formats)
* Black border issues : https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=615569

As for what errors you had, you didn't provide the log Jean-Francois
requested in the first comment. We need this to solve issues further.

[Bug 327872] Re: Broken support for MPEG-TS: HDV and AVCHD (.mts/.m2ts) files

2010-02-20 Thread Edward Hervey (bilboed)
To remove (hopefully) some confusion from (amongst other things) the
GStreamer side of things.

* HDV/AVCHD in this context means the camera with the 'official' HDV or AVCHD
specifications. People linked to those above. Both those formats use mpeg-ts as
the container format. If your camera does not record to mpeg-ts... it's not an
HDV- or AVCHD- compliant camera.
* The problems aren't that you can't playback the files, but that the support
isn't pristine.
* HDV files *playback* fine with latest GStreamer module releases.
* most AVCHD files *playback* fine with latest GStreamer module releases.

The problem here is 'perfect'/'fast' seeking support for those two
variants of mpeg-ts. The current gstreamer mpeg-ts demuxer (mpegtsdemux
in gst-plugins-bad) was never designed with random-access in mind (it
was developed for DVB/streaming support), and that's the root of the
issue with those files.

The HDV/AVCHD specifications extend the mpeg-ts usage in very subtle ways
making the poor seeking handling in mpegtsdemux even more visible (and in some
cases creating A/V sync issues :( ).
Those issues have been known for over a year... but mpegtsdemux is alas tricky
code to meddle with and past efforts have only resulted in poor man's seeking
capability.

An attempt was started by Zaheer Merali and myself to create a mpeg-ts
demuxer from scratch reusing the, much cleaner, mpeg-ts parse codebase
which takes into account all those issues and provide a base class for
all mpeg-ts variants/use-cases. Problem is... this is low on our
respective tasklists :(

P.S. And yes, poor seeking support = realy bad support of HDV/AVCHD
in PiTiVi and any other gst-based applications who need proper seeking
behaviour in mpeg-ts.

[Bug 508395] Re: Pitivi needs Launchpad integration

2010-01-20 Thread Edward Hervey (bilboed)
For what it's worth:
* pitivi doesn't use launchpad translations, it uses the gnome translation
project (http://live.gnome.org/TranslationProject), so directing people to
launchpad's translation would be a waste of time
* Help and manual are available on the pitivi website
* I couldn't see any mentions of python bindings for that library
* That patch will not be accepted upstream if it only contains
launchpad-specific item. If it contains generic improvements/modifications,
those can be accepted to keep the ubuntu-specific package patch as small as
possible.
* Finally ... what's the point of using that library ? To reports
ubuntu-specific bugs ? Doesn't that already work without that library ?

[Bug 507259] Re: pitivi crashed with ImportError in filter()

2010-01-18 Thread Edward Hervey (bilboed)
Looks like the issue is in the os and/or posixpath module and not in
pitivi itself according to the backtrace.

[Bug 502897] Re: [MIR] pitivi

2010-01-05 Thread Edward Hervey (bilboed)
I'd like to know which crashes you're talking about. Last I checked
(some 3 months ago maybe), all those crash reports were for old versions
of pitivi

[Bug 407395] Re: Installation fails - depends on package gstreamer0.10-gnonlin

2009-08-06 Thread Edward Hervey (bilboed)
There's not pitivi release that depends on gnonlin =0.10.11.2 .

You're either trying to install a pre-release (in which case you should
be using the gstreamer-developers PPA), or ... well you're on your own.

If you got this package... where did you get it from ?

That Element statement can't cause a crash.

Please provide a backtrace

The translations for pitivi are handled by the gnome translations team.
Please contact the italian team to help them with the translations :

[Bug 407212] Re: Gstreamer will not play Groovera AAC+ streams

2009-08-06 Thread Edward Hervey (bilboed)
Works fine with gst-plugins-good from git and totem 2.26.3 . gst-
plugins-good 0.10.16 will be released shortly with the proper fix.
