This can also cause pam-motd to stop updating /var/run/motd. This broke for me because /etc/update-motd.d/50-landscape-sysinfo which calls /usr/bin/landscape-sysinfo has an ImportError that is caught silently. It took me back to the list of devices that grub could be installed on. I kept going in a loop like this until I gave up and checked the "Continue without installing GRUB?" box. [Bug 378334] Re: gnome-volume-control: USB headset volume buttons affect laptop speakers, not headset speakers
The volume control used to work fine under Karmic, but upgrading to the Lucid beta broke it. If I plug in my Logitech USB headset, the audio switches to the headset, but the volume control continues to affect the Internal Audio device. When I go to the Sound Preferences, the Output shows the Internal Audio device is selected. When I click on USB Headset in the Sound Preferences, the volume control starts working for it again. If I unplug and replug my USB headset, the volume control once again remains on the Internal Audio device although the audio goes to the USB headset. ** Attachment added: "lsusb.log" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/42508753/lsusb.log ** Tags added: lucid-upgrade-testing -- gnome-volume-control: USB headset volume buttons affect laptop speakers, not headset speakers https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/378334 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus I downloaded the Jaunty AMD64 Desktop iso, and I ran it as a live cd. The Gnome panel at the bottom filled up because it was trying to open up nautilus over and over again. I'm including screenshots with auth.log and apport.log, which were the only two log files being written to constantly, and it was the same error over and over. ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- nautilus fails to launch in live cd https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/352603 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 319827] [NEW] packages hidden in synaptic unless organized by origin
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: synaptic After adding this repository, synaptic would not show the moonlight- plugin-mozilla package if I viewed the packages by Section. However, for some reason, the moonlight-plugin-mozilla package shows up in synaptic if I select to view the packages by "Origin" with the buttons in the bottom left corner. Then, I have to select ppa.launchpad.net/main in the top left corner. Oddly, the package won't show up in the search results, so I actually have to navigate the package list manually. Adding the missing gpg keys for the repository using apt-key has no effect on whether the packages show up normally. ** Affects: synaptic (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- packages hidden in synaptic unless organized by origin https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/319827 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

ubuntu-minimal also depends on libc6-i686, which makes removing libc6-i686 scary. pytz.timezone() should also catch the IOError and throw a pytz.UnknownTimeZoneError even though it is very unlikely to occur if pytz.all_timezones_set is clean, but that also depends on whether they are preloaded or if all_timezones_set is just verified with os.path.isfile(). -- OOPS setting US/Pacific-New timezone https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/244681 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 244681] Re: OOPS setting US/Pacific-New timezone
Loading all the timezone objects is definitely the most thorough check, but it takes at least 300 milliseconds. Checking that the timezone files exist with os.path.isfile only takes 4 milliseconds. >>>for timezone_name in pytz.common_timezones: ...if not os.path.isfile(os.path.join(dir, timezone_name)): ...pytz.common_timezones.remove(timezone_name) -- OOPS setting US/Pacific-New timezone https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/244681 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 88772] Re: X/radeon in feisty breaks ppc/ati external dvi/vga output
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 88741 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/88741 The "Screen and Graphics Preferences" and the "Screen Resolution Preferences" in gnome's System menu erroneously showed the only resolution options as 303Hz and 304Hz. After I changed the monitor model in "Screen and Graphics Preferences", I correctly got the refresh rate options 60Hz, 65Hz, 70Hz, 75Hz, 85Hz, and it would let me test the refresh rates, but the "OK" button didn't actually make the change. 70Hz was the highest rate that didn't have the pincushion distortion. If I re-opened "Screen and Graphics Preferences", it would show the correct ViewSonic P95f+ monitor, but it would only show 303Hz and 304Hz as options. "Screen and Graphics Preferences" added the modlines to the xorg.conf. When I restarted xorg, it was running at 1600x1200, although the virtual desktop size was 2048x1536. I was able to change the resolution in "Screen and Graphics Preferences" from 2048x1536 to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Interestingly, the "Screen and Graphics Preferences" removed these lines from the Seciont "Device" Option "CRT2HSync" "30-110" Option "CRT2VRefresh" "50-160" There must be something else that "Screen and Graphics Preferences" is doing differently than dpkg-reconfigure that gets it to work. Since the "Screen and Graphics Preferences" xorg.conf now works, I was worried that the xorg.conf from dpkg-reconfigure only didn't work because it had a slightly lower horizontal and vertical sync rate. However, when I used these configs it still didn't work: Section "Monitor" Identifier "Generic Monitor" Option "DPMS" HorizSync 30-110 VertRefresh 50-160 EndSection After looking at the diffs between the configs, I figured that the following change is what fixed the xorg.conf without resorting to CRT2HSync and CRT2VRefresh. Section "Device" Identifier "ATI Technologies Inc RV280 [Radeon 9200 SE]" + Boardname "ati" + Busid "PCI:2:0:0" Driver "ati" + Screen 0 + Option "MergedFB" "off" - BusID "PCI:2:0:0" EndSection It turns out that Option "MergedFB" "off" fixes the issue with the xorg.conf generated by debconf. ** Attachment added: "Xorg.0.log works with MergedFB=off" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/10209620/Xorg.0.log -- X/radeon in feisty breaks ppc/ati external dvi/vga output https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/88772 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
