[Bug 1875062] Re: [20.04] Keyboard layout not enabled immediately during installation when typing username/password
Just to say our clients face this as we ship in oem-config mode , which leads that they cannot login to their computer anymore and they did not see what QWERTY password they typed ! This is then a very high problem which has been seen even in 16.04 from time to time Could we at least have a patch that fix this on a branch and we coudl ship the custom version ? because right now , we just want to stop Ubuntu until this is fixed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1875062 Title: [20.04] Keyboard layout not enabled immediately during installation when typing username/password To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1875062/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks for all the valuable info about this problem. I'm not sure I understand if the observed behaviour is the one expected ? On of my client had his Ryzen 2200g workstation broken ( initramfs prompt ) after a 5.8 update , going back to 5.4 worked - Virtualbox module still does not build on 5.8 - Broadcom Wifi module neither Then I don't think 5.8 was ready to be deployed ? [Bug 1816497] Re: [snap] vaapi chromium no video hardware decoding
For once I'll make some noise : It's been months , we are using chromium snap and Vaapi support is still not really there on the stable branch, what's wrong ? Migrating to snap has been painful to some users and the point for canonical was to free some time to polish things , which I totally understand , but then , if we still lack behind mac and windows in terms of features like battery life , is this worth the hassle ? Simple question : does canonical run automatic vaapi test ( amd , nvidia , intel ) on each snap release to be sure support is here ? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1816497 Title: [snap] vaapi chromium no video hardware decoding To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1816497/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 684280] Re: casper toram forgets to disconnect loop device
** Description changed: Binary package hint: ubiquity Ubiquity cannot install if you are booting LiveCD directly from ISO. Booting directly from GRUB to the ISO, mounts the ISO to /isodevice. Ubiquity will not install (even if on separate disk) if this is not unmounted. The result being that one cannot install Ubuntu in this method. This method can be used to create a recovery partition or a multi-usb bootable drive. For more explanation on how to do this: == START == * Run the following commands which will create the directory /boot/iso and download the iso file to that directory. $ sudo -s # mkdir /boot/iso # cd /boot/iso # wget http://releases.ubuntu.com/maverick/ubuntu-10.10-desktop-i386.iso * Add a custom menu entry in GRUB2 configuration file. Edit /etc/grub.d/40_custom as root to look like this: #!/bin/sh echo "Adding 40_custom." >&2 exec tail -n +3 $0 menuentry "Maverick CD Image ISO" { set isofile=/boot/iso/ubuntu-10.10-desktop-i386.iso loopback loop (hd0,1)$isofile linux (loop)/casper/vmlinuz boot=casper iso-scan/filename=$isofile noprompt noeject initrd (loop)/casper/initrd.lz } * Afterwards, run update-grub for the changes to be propagated to /boot/grub/grub.cfg # update-grub Generating grub.cfg ... Found linux image: /boot/vmlinuz-... Found initrd image: /boot/initrd.img-... == STOP == == Workaround = After casper copy to ram , it need to disconnect the loop device and unmount - losetup -d /dev/loop0 - umount -lfd /isodevice + umount /isodevice === The result of booting from the ISO directly from GRUB, is that the CD is that the partition where the ISO is located is mounted to /isodevice. Ubiquity seems to want to have control of all disks and unmount all disks before it starts installing. In the images here you see the example is sda2 for / and sda for the MBR. I have also tried this with a secondary disk where sdb1 was to be used for / and sdb for the MBR and ubiquity still complained that it had to to unmount /isodevice, even though it is on sda1. Doesn't make much sense to unmount a disk if you will not be editing any part of it. [Bug 1872390] Re: 193% CPU usage while using webex with chromium
Neither chromium nor chrome on linux are gpu video decoding capable. You have to use Brave for this ( with limitations) I guess Webex use Webrtc ( So may be VP8 ) Check the last section of chrome://gpu/ to know what decoding is supported. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1872390 Title: 193% CPU usage while using webex with chromium To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/chromium-browser/+bug/1872390/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
