[Bug 1313446] Re: window disappears on toggle shade
I am sorry, it's been a while I stopped the Compiz development. The branch above is buggy. I'll describe here what I've found so far and maybe someone from the community or Canonical who has more time than me fixes it. The problem comes from the Unity 7 decorations. There are 2 different problems to be solved: 1- the decoration window should not be unshaded/updated everytime that the window is unshaded we have to check if we received a toggle_shade signal first 2- after fixing 1, you will see that a rolled window's decoration still gets unshaded when the window receives the focus out event. This should be also fixed and then I believe it will work fine... ** Changed in: unity Assignee: Eleni Maria Stea (hikiko) => (unassigned) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1313446 Title: window disappears on toggle shade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/1313446/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

You don't need to apply the patch manually. I am going to fix some remaining issues and put it in one of the next SRUs. Unfortunately we have some other priorities now and you might need to wait a few more weeks to see it on Xenial. [Bug 1442728] Re: Chromium fullscreen should be unredirected by default
** Description changed: The default Compiz settings cause Chromium to tear when fullscreen. See also: https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=344141 By default, "Unredirect Match" contains (any) & !(class=Totem) & !(class=MPlayer) & !(class=Vlc) & !(class=Plugin-container) & !(class=Firefox) This means that fullscreen Chromium videos bypass Compiz, causing them to tear (no V-sync). Firefox, Totem, VLC and MPlayer videos do not tear when fullscreen, because of the line above. Due to the popularity of the Chromium browser (and Chrome, now it has brought Netflix to Ubuntu), it should be added to the default Compiz settings, changing the line to (any) & !(class=Totem) & !(class=MPlayer) & !(class=Vlc) & !(class =Plugin-container) & !(class=Firefox) & !(class=Chromium) Most likely & !(class=^Google-chrome) should be added as well. It's very tedious to do this on each and every machine I install, and I would say that having both Firefox and Chromium be unredirected is a more sane default than just Firefox. Especially because Chromium is the only browser on Ubuntu with full MSE support and Chrome being the only way to use Netflix. + + [impact] + Compiz doesn't handle by default the fullscreen windows and this causes tearing in some browsers like Chrome. With the fix revno 3994 compiz handles the chrome windows in fullscreen and the tearing is gone. + + [test case] + Open chrome in fullscreen and start a video. You will see some tearing. + Close chrome, apply the compiz patch. + Open chrome in fullscreen and play the same video. There's no more tearing. + + [regression potential] + - -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1442728 Title: Chromium fullscreen should be unredirected by default To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/1442728/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1555237] Re: Upgrade from 14.04.4→ 16.04 dies midway taking out the session.
Here's some updated info on the "compiz crash" bug: 1- the "crash" only occurs in amd64 systems (in i386 I am able to successfully dist-upgrade) 2- it is not a "compiz crash". Xserver stops because it receives the SIGKILL signal => compiz, metacity and other wm stop as a consequence of that (https://paste.ubuntu.com/15537883/ <-gdb output) 3- after the crash the kernel hasn't created an initrd => on reboot we get a kernel panic 4- andrea noticed that the bug occurs after a udev restart my syslog in case that systemd is sending the sigkill: http://pastebin.com/VJLsg8Ce -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1555237 Title: Upgrade from 14.04.4→ 16.04 dies midway taking out the session. [Bug 1024208] Re: [regression-r3320][GLES] td plugin (3d Windows for the cube) has severe clipping/transformation glitches
Progress update: In the linked branch above I can fake the clipping on the pixel shader as follows: instead of clipping polygons in view space I discard the pixels that would be clipped by the planes in the fragment shader. The shaders have been tested and work with the fixed function pipeline 3d windows implementation. TODO: In order to have clipping in GLES2 I need to modify the compiz shader system (see opengl plugin) to accept clipping planes and re-write the td function to use GLES2 compatible code.
