[Bug 1377977] [NEW] Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro intermittently experiences screen corruption with Web browsers and Skype forcing a restart

2014-10-06 Thread Ellen Arnold
Public bug reported:

I will take photos and attach to this bug later. Every few hours I'm
forced to reboot due to screen corruption which may be due to flaky 3D
or acceleration support. When doing video-intensive things like
Skype/Hangout video call the current window will disappear behind the
browser and show up inside the Unity Launcher. Eventually I can no
longer type or use the mouse and the system will reboot itself.

An additional data point is that, when I first tun on the system, it
takes about 3 seconds to draw the Plymouth screen and, if grub asks me
to pick a boot option, about 5 seconds for the grub screen to draw from
the bottom up (which makes me believe it might be poor acceleration
support).

[Bug 917726] [NEW] When plugging back into an external display, the screen goes mental

2012-01-17 Thread Ellen Arnold
Public bug reported:

If I unplug my laptop from the external display at my desk, when I
return and plug back in, the screen often goes mental. There are
flashing black bands with sharp diagonals appearing at the refresh rate
on the screen. The only way I've found to resolve this is to restart
the computer.

[Bug 728636] Re: The style template for the web page used for announces does not interact well with the internal WIKI

2011-08-10 Thread Ellen Arnold
Hi all,

What's the status on this? My understanding is that this is being fixed
without the need for web team support. Can anyone confirm that please?

Thanks!

ellen

[Bug 728636] Re: The style template for the web page used for announces does not interact well with the internal WIKI

2011-06-08 Thread Ellen Arnold
Just had a chat with Kate, Steve and Matt about the best way to tackle
this issue. For the Alpha 1 release, Matt was able to clone and
redirect to the wiki page. As this was successful, we'll continue with
this for the remaining Alpha releases. There is concern regarding load
and access rights for higher volume releases, however.

Action plan:

Test if load is an issue and look into reducing access to the wiki. If
successful, we will continue.

*Steve to liase with IS regarding the load and access issues.

If either of the above proves to be an issue, we will create a template
to resolve the design issues before the beta release.

DEADLINE FOR THIS DECISION: July 15th

I will update as we receive more information. :)

[Bug 785681] [NEW] Unable to unblank screen, cursor still present

2011-05-20 Thread Ellen Arnold
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

This is ~ev filing this bug on behalf of Ellen. When her laptop blanked
the screen, she tried to unlock it; however, it did not return from this
state and only the mouse cursor was ever visible. Switching to a VT
showed that all the desktop processes were still running. Killing
gnome-screensaver did not fix the issue, nor did running unity --reset.
This issue occurs sporadically.
