[Bug 1948677] Re: No sound on ALC889 after upgrade to 21.10

2021-10-25 Thread Emmanuel DA MOTA
thanks to pavucontrol, now i can get sound to my external speakers
across reboots

In the sound section in the gnome settings panel, the dropdown list displays 2
outputs:
Headphones
Line out

the output device was set to Headphones because it was the setting in
21.04 and it worked.

Unfortunately, it's not possible to mute/umute something from this panel

I installed pavucontrol to unmute the Line out and set as the default
output.

hope this help
you can close this bug

i found a way to reproduce

- wait for an automatic update manager prompt
- apply the updates (in the dock, the update-manager icon is twisting)
- when its done, close update-manager
- then the error start to appear in syslog

[Bug 1134060] [NEW] network-manager selects a random connection, not the last used

2013-02-27 Thread Emmanuel DA MOTA
Public bug reported:

Having multiple wired and wireless network settings. Using 1 wired and 1
wireless at the same time.

At startup, NM connects to networks that i don't want. Ethernet and

I have to unckeck "Automatically connects to this network when it's

It should connect at the last network used. It worked like that before raring

[Bug 972693] Re: Error message for missing kernel modules gives wrong command

2012-09-26 Thread Emmanuel DA MOTA
When using a lowlatency kernel, you have to install the package : linux-
headers-lowlatency

i'm not an expert but it seems that the virtualbox dkms module needs
kernel headers

restart virtualbox with the command : /etc/init.d/virtualbox restart

and start your VM. No need to completely reboot your machine.

[Bug 779799] Re: notes:// protocol no more handled

2011-06-03 Thread Emmanuel DA MOTA
i'm not sure that it is related to the upstream bug as the submitter want to
open his mail located on the Notes server inside the evolution client that's
not what i want and used to do.
The feature that is not working after the upgrade to natty is when i receive a
mail in evolution which contains a notes link, clicking to the link should open
the Notes native client and the document pointed out by the link.

i found a workaround for this, you can check
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xdg-utils/+bug/788673

[Bug 788673] Re: unable to open link with custom url-handlers

2011-05-27 Thread Emmanuel DA MOTA
ok, i found a workaround

i saw that chromium uses xdg-open and xdg seems to take care about the
MimeType values in .desktop files

so i created a new desktop file for Lotus named
/usr/share/applications/LotusNotes8.5-url.desktop with this content

[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Name=Lotus Notes 8.5 Url
Type=Application
Exec=/opt/ibm/lotus/notes/framework/../notes-wrapper %u
Icon=/opt/ibm/lotus/notes/framework/shared/eclipse/features/com.ibm.notes.links.feature_8.5.2.20100811-1131/icons/notes.ico
Terminal=false
Categories=Application;Office;
MimeType=x-scheme-handler/notes
NoDisplay=true

note the %u instead of %F and the NoDisplay key

same thing for Spotify with /usr/share/application/spotify-uri.desktop

[Desktop Entry]
Name=Spotify
GenericName=Spotify
Comment=Listen to music using Spotify
Icon=spotify-linux-512x512
TryExec=spotify
Exec=spotify -uri %u
Terminal=false
Type=Application
Categories=Qt;AudioVideo
MimeType=x-scheme-handler/spotify
NoDisplay=true

i don't know if this is the right way to enable custom url-handlers
so, Are the gconf values deprecated?

[Bug 452044] [NEW] the file dialog does not display gvfs mounts or bookmarks when inserting an image in a mail or in signature editor

2009-10-15 Thread Emmanuel DA MOTA
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

I want to insert an image located on the enterprise network
1 - in a new memo
2 - in my signature

the network shares are available with nautilus, they are mounted and i
have some bookmarks to specific folders

when you click the insert image button or via the insert>Image... menu,
the dialog only displays local filesystems and bookmarks

As a workaround, i have to type a path like this /home/user/.gvsf/share
on srv/path/to/file in the location field

[Bug 273294] Re: Rhythmbox can not use smb:// as library location

2009-06-09 Thread Emmanuel DA MOTA
As Bastien Nocera said in Gnome Buzilla, i tried to remove
/usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstgnomevfs.so

I can import a folder and listen music from a smb share.

it's a good news but what about dependencies?
