I am having trouble opening some programs, like for instance Hexchat and
Filezille. (They are not snaps). That same message appears in my syslog.

[Bug 552643] Re: After trying to open a window, system gets stuck, but can still switch to tty

2010-04-02 Thread Enrique Moreno Tent
I cant take an snapshot since the system becomes unusable. Imagine any
kind of window in the desktop. The now replace it for a white square
(plain like that) of the same size. That's what appears.

And of course, Compiz is OFF.

[Bug 552643] [NEW] After trying to open a window, system gets stuck, but can still switch to tty

2010-03-31 Thread Enrique Moreno Tent
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

Im in lucid Beta 1. I manage to get to the Desktop without problems. I
can explore the menus from the panel and unfold the calendar, but when I
try to open the first window, ANY window, I get a big white box and
clicking doesnt work anymore, even though I can move the mouse for a
while. I can also go back to the tty, even thought I keep getting
messages of error every 2 seconds which makes it quite annoying...

[Bug 261611] Re: [Hardy]Activating ATI Radeon Xpress freezes gnome

2008-08-31 Thread Enrique Moreno Tent
Amazing thing! I pplied this command and the graphic acceleration worked
just once!

sudo /usr/sbin/update-rc.d -f atieventsd remove

I read something about the atieventsd not looking for a file in the
right location and handling the error not gracefully. The weird thing is
that after this success I made a 2nd reboot, and the problem came back!
Now the command doesnt work anymore :(

[Bug 261611] Re: [Hardy]Activating ATI Radeon Xpress freezes gnome

It worked fine in Gutsy, so I guess it must be something that was
changed in the new version of the distro by the developers, right?

[Bug 261611] [NEW] [Hardy]Activating ATI Radeon Xpress freezes gnome

2008-08-26 Thread Enrique Moreno Tent
Public bug reported:

When I activate the ATI drivers in System Administration Hardware
Drivers and then I reboot, when the GNOME login window was supposed to
appear, I get a black screen freeze.

I was able to revert to the system with ATI disabled using recovery
mode and the X fix function. But I dont know how to get my graphic
card to work. It DID work with gutsy before!

Im running Hardy Heron. I have a ATI Radeon Xpress 200M in a Samsung
laptop.

Linux shouldn't freeze so I guess this must be a fixable issue. Tell me
if you need more info.

(sorry for errors, this is my first bug report)
