[Bug 1853185] [NEW] Evolution dark theme + 'save' imposes dark theme in message

2019-11-19 Thread Eric Jones
Public bug reported:

1)The release of Ubuntu
Description:Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS
Release:18.04

2)The version of the package
evolution:
  Installed: 3.28.5-0ubuntu0.18.04.1
  Candidate: 3.28.5-0ubuntu0.18.04.1
  Version table:
 *** 3.28.5-0ubuntu0.18.04.1 500
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic-updates/universe amd64
Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 3.28.1-2 500
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/universe amd64 Packages

The problem is very similar to https://mail.gnome.org/archives
/evolution-list/2016-November/msg00063.html, which describes the problem
very well.

3)What I expect
I use the Evolution for OWA with a dark theme and "Inherit theme colors in HTML
mode" turned OFF. The editor works very well as described in the
aforementioned mailing list and sends messages with the white background even
though I am editing them with a dark background. When I save, I expect to be
able to reopen the email and continue editing without any changes. I expect
the saved copy to be exactly the same as if I was going to send it so that I
can open it on any other machine and send it exactly as if I had sent it
instead of saving it.

4)What happens instead
The problem comes in when I save the HTML message and then re-open it from the
server in another editor. This only really happens when I start editing on one
computer and finish on another because I am missing a file to attach or
something. It appears as though the HTML changes to match the theme are saved
to the server.

Thank you!

[Bug 63853] Re: Network stalls when downloading torrents

2006-10-11 Thread Eric Jones
I have the upload bandwidth capped at 3 KB/s and maximum concurrent
uploads capped at 1. These don't seem to affect the behavior and I can
now confirm this on two different edgy systems on different torrents.
All network activity ceases (can't ping, traceroute, etc) and I can only
get it back by restarting the network.

[Bug 63853] Network stalls when downloading torrents

2006-10-03 Thread Eric Jones
Public bug reported:

When using gnome-btdownload to download a torrent file, the network
appears to stall, halting all IP traffic until a '/etc/init.d/networking
restart' is issued. There are no apparent error messages in any log
files that appear to be related and I can only recreate this while
downloading torrent files. Anyone else seen this sort of behavior? It
wasn't present in Dapper.

[Bug 60599] Re: Seahorse won't gracefully exit in Edgy

2006-09-15 Thread Eric Jones
I can't seem to reproduce it now either despite not having made any
changes to the system. When it was doing it this morning, I was in the
process of signing keys and reuploading them to keyservers. So if you
can't reproduce it after signing something then it was just a fluke
occurrence. Sorry for the inconvenience.

[Bug 60608] Evolution doesn't properly report when a message is encrpyted AND signed

2006-09-15 Thread Eric Jones
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

If someone sends me an email that has been PGP signed AND encrypted then
Evolution reports the message is ONLY encrypted and warns that the
sender can't be verified. This only applies if the message is BOTH
signed and encrypted.

The sending program for the test was Thunderbird under MS Windows using
the Enigmail plugin. KMail was able to properly report that the message
was both signed and encrypted.

[Bug 60599] Seahorse won't gracefully exit in Edgy

2006-09-15 Thread Eric Jones
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: seahorse

I installed seahorse this morning on Edgy Ubuntu. If I click "Quit"
from the main menu or hit the "close" window manager button the
application hangs and has to be forced quit. This only seems to occur
if I've synced with a keyserver or done other operations. If I just
open the application and immediately close it there are no problems.
When it does hang, the following is issued at the command line over and
over again:

(seahorse:12473): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_tree_model_sort_real_unref_node:
assertion `elt->ref_count > 0' failed

The expected results are that if either termination button is pressed
then the application should gracefully exit.

2006-09-14 Thread Eric Jones
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: apt

The apt-get manual page accessed via `man apt-get` doesn't document the
"autoremove" feature.

The expected output is that `man apt-get` will return a page describing
every function available with apt-get including `apt-get autoremove`.

[Bug 60434] Rhythmbox doesn't notice changes in library

2006-09-14 Thread Eric Jones
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

My music library is accessed from Windows and Linux on a local NTFS file
system. If I make a change to a file name while in Windows and then
switch to Edgy, Rhythmbox reports that it can't find the original file,
but doesn't notice the addition of the new file name. I have "Watch my
library for new files" checked in the preferences which I would think
would catch this. The only way around it that I can see is to rebuild
the entire library or locate each song and import it manually.

The expected result is that with that option checked, any changes to the
library file system would be caught and integrated into rhythmbox's
library database. The actual result is that it doesn't seem to notice
when files are added/changed, only removed. This may have something to
do with the way NTFS reports file changes?

[Bug 32969] Re: Add libnotify support to evolution

2006-09-11 Thread Eric Jones
Indeed this would be a handy addition to the evolution package. The
only thing that has ever really been a shortcoming for Gnome/Evolution
is the lack of anything other than a "beep" that new email has arrived.
Ideally there should be a system tray icon like KMail has. If you leave
the room and don't hear the beep and come back in, there's no way of
knowing that you've missed an email other than habitually clicking on
Evolution to check.

[Bug 58545] Re: mp3 plugin causes very bad sound distortion

2006-09-11 Thread Eric Jones
I can confirm this in Edgy as well. The same process (removal of
fluendo) fixed the problem. It should be noted that this doesn't appear
to affect ALL mp3's just some of them. I haven't yet noticed what the
common trait is among the MP3's that it causes distortion on.

When trying to play the first MP3 after opening Amarok it said that MP3
support was not available and asked if I wanted to install it. I
clicked "Yes" and the program did nothing. It should have installed
libxine-extracodecs.

Steps to reproduce:
Install xine (without extracodecs package)
Install Amarok
Run Amarok
Try to play MP3 file
Click "Yes" when prompted to install MP3 support

Expected Result:
Package manager gets launched after obtaining SUDO authorization

[Bug 59921] Amarok First-run Wizard Fails to Change Library Path

2006-09-11 Thread Eric Jones
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: amarok

I am testing Edgy and have previously had an install of Amarok under
Dapper. When I installed the Edgy version and ran it for the first time
it took me through a First-run wizard. Since I've moved my music, I told
it where the new library should be built from and when the application
opened I found that it had not made the change and still had my old
paths in there.

[Bug 58010] Re: Text, Focus and Menu issue in Gnome on Edgy

2006-09-11 Thread Eric Jones
I have a similar problem although I can't relate it to Firefox. However,
I can confirm that intermittently I lose all keyboard focus. I can
click on different windows (OpenOffice, Terminal, Firefox, Evolution,
etc) and no keys will be working. If I wait another 2 or 3 minutes then
focus will come back. Since it isn't with any one application I don't
know where to file a bug report nor how to get a proper trace, but it is
a sever limitation.

I was having a problem only with the main Applications menu in Gnome but
I just deleted my user copy of the menu to restore the system default
menu and that fixed whatever was messed up.
