[Bug 1688592]

2020-06-23 Thread Eric Riese
Reminder that there is still a bounty for this issue at BountySource

https://www.bountysource.com/issues/55506502-add-va-api-hardware-
decoding-support-on-linux

I got an email from BountySource that they're going to start taking old
bounties for themselves starting *2020-07-1* (reproduced below)

In my opinion the bounty was already earned when this issue was resolved
but I don't know who gets to be the arbiter.

```
Hi,
You are receiving this email because we are updating the Bountysource Terms of
Service, effective 1st July 2020.
What's changing?
We have added a Time-Out clause to the Bounties section of the agreement:
2.13 Bounty Time-Out.
If no Solution is accepted within two years after a Bounty is posted, then the
Bounty will be withdrawn and the amount posted for the Bounty will be retained
by Bountysource. For Bounties posted before June 30, 2018, the Backer may
redeploy their Bounty to a new Issue by contacting supp...@bountysource.com
before July 1, 2020. If the Backer does not redeploy their Bounty by the
deadline, the Bounty will be withdrawn and the amount posted for the Bounty
will be retained by Bountysource.
You can read the full Terms of Service here
What do I need to do?
If you agree to the new terms, you don't have to do anything.
If you have a bounty posted prior to June 30, 2018 that is not currently
being solved, email us at supp...@bountysource.com to redeploy your
bounty.  Or, if you do not agree with the new terms, please discontinue
using Bountysource.
Thanks for reading
Bountysource Team
[Bug 1841868] [NEW] Upgrade fails on systems with ubuntu-minimal package
2019-08-28 Thread Eric Riese
Public bug reported:
I installed Ubuntu originally with a server iso in order to have a
custom LVM configuration, then I installed the `ubuntu-desktop` package.
This is my laptop but I did the same thing on my desktop and encountered
the same issue with this upgrade from Cosmic to Disco. That upgrade was
rough. It got stuck so I did a force shutdown and several rounds of
`sudo apt -f install`, `sudo apt dist-upgrade` and reboot.
[Bug 1492144] Re: wpa_supplicant crashed with SIGSEGV in dbus_connection_dispatch()
I installed what debug packages I could find and filed another bug here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wpa/+bug/1495743
I marked that as a duplicate of this. Dunno if that was the right thing
to do.
I also created this bug:
realized I didn't have any better information than the original.
[Bug 872146] [NEW] apturl doesn't work with multiarch packages, i.e. skype:i386
2011-10-11 Thread Eric Riese
Public bug reported:
multiarch support, as added in Ubuntu Oneiric, makes it easy to install 32 bit
packages on a 64 bit system. The 32 bit versions are named the same, but with
':i386' at the end, so if you're running a 64 bit system, there is no skype
package in the repos, only one called skype:i386. Apturl flags valid package
names as invalid, with the following error:
Invalid url: 'apt:skype:i386' given, exiting
Invalid package name 'skype:i386'
Segfault when opening xvid file.
When run from terminal, I get this:
/var/lib/python-support/python2.6/gdata/tlslite/utils/cryptomath.py:9:
DeprecationWarning: the sha module is deprecated; use the hashlib module instead
  import sha
Segmentation fault
VLC plays the file well enough.
