[Bug 105438] Re: [needs-packaging] jahshaka

2009-05-08 Thread Eric from Waterkant
Now the development seems to run again, so we need a packaging!

Why? Most companies flood the market with small sdhc camcorders, these
devices did not use .dv files over firewire. For .dv i have kino and
kdenlive but these programs cannot handle the mpg files from the new
devices. There is no cinelerra and no jashaka deb package for ubuntu.

If i need a bit more video cutting, i have to look for a windoze
solution. But why when booth programs are available in source and rpm?
Please package them, i read many tries ended up in lib-hell and strange
version troubles.

[Bug 239413] Re: Four steps of brightness changing after pressing a brightness key only once

2009-05-06 Thread Eric from Waterkant
Linux calliope 2.6.28-11-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 17 01:57:59 UTC 2009
i686 GNU/Linux
ii gnome-power-ma 2.24.2-2ubuntu

Thinkpad T42. The brightness is switched down by gpm 3 or 4 steps, but
only 2 steps up. This happens in AC mode and on battery, every few
minutes the user has to lighten up the display. The osd shows the step
when gpm control the backlight down. Saves lot of energy, but is
extremly annoying. Thanks for tips to disable this completely.

[Bug 303429] Re: hd limited to udma33, thinkpad t23

2009-04-28 Thread Eric from Waterkant
Hello,
found a suggest that the modprobe.d/options file is no more processed in
jaunty. So i renamed it to .conf like the other working .conf files but this
did not help. The file or the option seems to be ignored, permissions are same.

My t42 is not affected by this problem, only the t23 shows it. The board
and chipset are companions, what maybe the difference?

[Bug 303429] Re: hd limited to udma33, thinkpad t23

2009-04-27 Thread Eric from Waterkant
Same procedure on jaunty

Linux atalanta 2.6.28-11-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 17 01:57:59 UTC
2009 i686 GNU/Linux

[2.766449] ata1: PATA max UDMA/100 cmd 0x1f0 ctl 0x3f6 bmdma 0x1860 irq 14

But now my suggested bugfix /etc/modprobe.d/options
#options libata ignore_hpa=1
options libata force=80c

did not work anymore. The disk stays on udma33, the options did not
exist under jaunty and when created they are ignored. Where to place the
option now?

[Bug 367237] Re: 9.04 Live-CD did not mount jfs

2009-04-26 Thread Eric from Waterkant
Hello

above happens with i386 livecd on a amd64 system. This is crazy cause a
amd64 livecd mounts the partition well, who can check this? Is there a
difference between amd64 and i386 jfs?

If this is my pbkac, the bug can be closed.

[Bug 367237] [NEW] 9.04 Live-CD did not mount jfs

2009-04-26 Thread Eric from Waterkant
Public bug reported:

This is a really messy showstopper, sittin here with broken grub and
initrd without chance to repair this.

Please try to mount a existing jfs partition with a live cd, tested with
8.04, 8.10, 9.04

ubu...@ubuntu:/mnt$ sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/ziel
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda1,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
   dmesg | tail or so

ubu...@ubuntu:/mnt$ sudo mount -t jfs /dev/sda1 /mnt/ziel
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda1,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
   dmesg | tail or so

But the jfs module is already started by the live cd.

That must be fixed urgent, now i have to use the windows way. Format all
and reinstall the whole system..
