I put subtitle and movie file together in a folder. I did what you suggest Sebastien, I've renamed the subtitle file, and It works. I'm using: xorg (1:7.2-0ubuntu11) feisty; xorg-driver-fglrx 7.1.0-8.34.8+2.6.20.5-16.28. I am a KDE user, and just noticed that using oxygen-gtk[1] (a very recent project that really does a great job on making GTK+ apps feel like Qt apps) fixes the problem. It brings along some weird behaviors on widgets (maybe they don't exist anymore with the last commit), but everything works fine and I see no crashes at all. Switching back to QtCurve causes the crash to happen. @Harald Unfortunately KDE is very immature when it comes to connectivity. Try plasma-widget-networkmanagement 0.1, it works for me. If you are not lucky on that too, try pon/poff via terminal (pppconfig can do it all). Public bug reported: When a window application is open, the desktop icons can get mouse focus but the keyboard event are send to the last window. I also see this bug. After maximizing a window I can no longer use its titlebar, the only way to restore "sane" behaviour is to unmaximize it from wnck-applet. I found that this problem didn't happen with the default configuration, but only after disabling wobbly windows from the desktop-effects capplet. Stephane, you could confirm this is the case also for you by following these steps: 1) launch desktop-effects and disable compiz. Quit desktop-effects. 2) Run the following commands to reset your compiz configuration: gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/compiz gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/gwd 3) Launch desktop-effects again and enable it. The desktop-effects capplet simply disables the wobbly plugin
(/apps/compiz/general/allscreens/options/active_plugins) if you choose
to disable wobbly effects. This is what's causing problems.
The way I found to disable the wobbly effect without causing compiz to
misbehave is to keep the wobbly plugin but change its configuration, by
emptying the two lists at
/apps/compiz/plugins/wobbly/screen0/{grab,map}_window_types. I'd also
like to disable the maximize_effect key, but doing that brings back the
problems described before.
There are at least two possible ways to close this bug:
1) Fix compiz so that it works correctly without loading the wobbly
plugin.
2) Change what desktop-effects does when you enable/disable wobbly
effects to emulate the behaviour I described above.

Hello, I'm having problems like this one on Karmic with the same camera. Using dvgrab directly (dvgrab -i) I can't do nothing. With kdenlive 0.7.6 I can't do nothing as well, but using kino 1.3.3 if I go directly to capture and press the capture button it starts capturing, but after pressing stop everything seems broken again (even capture). The differences from the three methods is that using dvgrab directly or using kdenlive, after connecting the camera goes directly to playing pause and on kino it doesn't do that. After more testing, if I change the order of the input sources, the problem only exists if I'm on any source that's not the first one.
