[Bug 1225811] Re: [Dell Inspiron 15R 5521] Can't toggle backlight brightness

[Bug 778538] Re: Unfocussed, maximized windows can't be resized or closed without focussing first.
Maybe this is also a compiz bug, worsened by unity and its way to place the close buttons of maximized windows on the top panel. This could cause confusion by not knowing which maximized window is focused. Possible fix: (Ubuntu Forums - July 24th, 2007) 1 - First I went SystemPreferencesWindows and turned on 'Select windows when the mouse moves over them', and set the 'Interval before raising' to 0.5, although I don't think the number is important. 2 - Then I logged-out and back in again to restart the window manager. 3 - Now when I mouse over an inactive window the window is highlited... clicking it focuses the window. This is nice, and I could get used to it, but not what I wanted. ...So I turned it off. 4 - Turning this on and off actually fixed the problem. source: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=3071659postcount=11 I turned on 'Select windows when the mouse moves over them' and it avoided the focus mistake issue, but I didn't try the turn on and off. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/778538 Title: Unfocussed, maximized windows can't be resized or closed without focussing first. Re: [Bug 79030] Re: gnome-video-thumbnailer uses all available CPU power when using bittorrent
Good news! The new option of adding a .part suffix at incomplete downloads, included in the newer version of Transmission bittorrent client, indirectly helped me with this bug: the thumbnails aren't regenerated anymore. But this bug still exists: gnome-video-thumbnailer should wait some bigger interval before updating the thumbnails, not doing it at every single second for every file of the folder. [Bug 446035] Re: iPod mounts as a normal disk in Karmic (gtkpod/others won't list the iPod), fine in Jaunty
According to a songbird forum, it's because the iPod isn't mounted at the right place. Here is a work around FIX, from the forum: It mainly involves using the terminal to unmount and remount the device to another directory. I believe the problems we are having is due to the migration from udev to devkit in ubuntu karmic. (First EJECT your iPod, then...) For example your ipod is the block device /dev/sdb1 so I would do the following. sudo -i #(this drops you into a root shell) mkdir /mnt/ipod #(you can use any directory really but this is easy to remember.) mount -t vfat -o rw,uid=1000,gid=1000,utf8=1,dmask=0077,flush /dev/sdb1 /mnt/ipod (this mounts a vfat filesystem on device /dev/sdb1 to directory /mnt/ipod owned by the user and group who's ID number is 1000, utf8 support is enabled and all changes are written to disk immediately. Substitute 1000 for the UID and GID of your user and the group your user is in) After doing this, gtkpod correctly reconize and load the ipod. source: http://getsatisfaction.com/songbird/topics/ipod_not_connecting_on_ubuntu_karmic_9_10 UPDATE: I'm also tested a second FIX: I added another gtkpod ipod repository, targeted to the correct mount point of the ipod. This also worked BUT I have to manually hit the Load iPod on gtkpod to make this easier fix work. -- iPod mounts as a normal disk in Karmic (gtkpod/others won't list the iPod), fine in Jaunty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/446035 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 465954] [NEW] Double entry for gwibber in indicator-applet AND multiple instances of gwibber are created
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: indicator-applet WHAT HAPPENED: The first gwibber entry in indicator-applet launches a new gwibber instance, that will be listed under evolution and empathy (creating the double entry). So, I'll have two gwibber entries in the indicator-applet: the last one that corresponds to the gwibber instance and the original first entry, and it gets worse: if I click the first entry, it will launch *another* gwibber entry, and another, and another... I just notice this because my RAM consumption jumped to the sky. WHAT I EXPECT TO HAPPEN: The dual gwibber entry should be listed as one. The first time I click it, it should launch a gwibber instance, and after it, future clicks should bring the *unique* instance and do not create new instances (just like Empathy does). $ uname -a Linux desktop 2.6.31-14-generic #48-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 16 14:05:01 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 9.10 Release:9.10 $ apt-cache policy indicator-applet indicator-applet: Installed: 0.2.0-0ubuntu2 Candidate: 0.2.0-0ubuntu2 Version table: *** 0.2.0-0ubuntu2 0 500 http://sft.if.usp.br karmic/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status $ apt-cache policy gwibber gwibber: Installed: 2.0.0~bzr476-0ubuntu3 Candidate: 2.0.0~bzr476-0ubuntu3 Version table: *** 2.0.0~bzr476-0ubuntu3 0 500 http://sft.if.usp.br karmic/universe Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status BTW, evolution should be able to hide itself into indicator-applet.
